Yeah, the ball was off of Iowa and the Race screen should've been an offensive foul. I don't think anyone is saying the refs got every call right...

But I don't think the refs were a major deciding factor in the game. I'm not shy on calling our refs when they're one-sided, I just don't really see it at all in this game.

EDIT: Wait, you're arguing with me about a play you haven't even seen because of what the radio guys said? The story all week has been they've hardly shown replays of controversial calls in the building....

They were showing it in indy. You can hear Grant Hill talk about it and the crowd after the fact.  And, yes, thr last three minutes I had to listen to it on the radio - I listen to professionals communicating; and, our guys are as objective as they come.  ES and Don Fischer are the best at  communicating controversial calls.  Let me also say, I was kind of watching a grainy video while picking up my kid, of course parked :)

Ha, after a few beers I was trying to explain the “it’s okay we lost this, b/c it might have pushed us into the 8/9 seed if we had won” and my wife was like, “Can you just take the dog out, I have no idea what you are talking about.”

But, no reason to hang our heads with this one. We competed until the end and should have won, w/o that ridiculous bank at the end. Fran definitely should have been T’d up that one time, but I think the officials were worried about Francon levels.

We still need shooters. Like now. Frustrating that I don’t feel confident if anyone other than XJ is shooting from three. Kopp and Stewart need to step it up like now. You were brought here to do one thing. Do that thing.

Kopp caught fire towards the end.  Stewart needs his confidence back.  Maybe a restart with the tourney or as X said....back to the lab.

I would expect the team shooting 32 threes to play through less contact, wouldn’t you?

I am looking for a replay, was listening to radio.  They were saying after replays, very light contact, maybe a foot in the restricted area, and it was a foul on Iowa or play on.  They are usually spot on with looking at replays and talking about the play.  I did watch on the tube, the foul on Race on the screen - one of the worst calls I have seen.  And, of course the ball going off of Iowas hands out of bounds and two refs wouldnt reverse the call.

Not sure you need to upgrade

    slight improved by everybody

A true off-season with this staff could be awesome.  XJ is one of the most improved players during season in a long, long time.

Regardless, TJD or a replacement if he goes is priority #1.  Being a rim blocker/defender is cruicial for this D with applying pressure.

The problem is Iowa has shooters, IU does not..hence how the game was won

Ball can only be scored as a bucket if you have a possession.  Refs took three key ones away that second half.  A key bucket at the end was waved off which shouldn't.

  6. To me these were the problems were:

    1) Outbounds call that went wrong way

2)Foul on Race when he was pushed over on the sceen

    3) The charge called on TJD with very little contact and the other player having a foot by or in the jail.

Stinks, these were horrible calls and gave, took points.

  7. Love it.  Woodson:  we knew they were going to start making shots.  NOW we got start making shots.

Hopefully the 2 FT get Kopp going.  PS only need one to drop.  BATES!!!! huge.  TJD keep playing like an All-America.

To do that with X on the bench.  This team can go at it the next 20.

Probably a rumor started by the same people who guaranteed Keion Brooks would transfer to IU and that Brad Stevens was a lock to Coach IU.

So many more and, and, that could edited.

It's amazing how things like this spread.

What's even more amazing, the fake rumors say it is coming from Fife.  That would be a career killer with the reputation of leaking locker room info.  Fife wouldn't do that, you would assume, period.

His ranking came from dominating Curbello a couple of times in AAU. They saw what they wanted to see but only got part of the picture. Like I said many times CAM did a huge disservice to KL

KL has the ability.  Pregame warmups he is the quickest player on the floor.  We know he can see the floor in a way most college players can't.

The question has always been defense.  Never watched him play HS, it seems as if he grew up in a zone like defense? On-the ball defense is not an instinct to match if the ball was in his hands.

My gut feeling is that either Race will be back or TJD, but not both. No insider info, just my opinion.

I don't know if this means anything, but wasn't Race a reclassified recruit?  Didn't play his senior year of high school?  Only say that because technically, next year would of always been his Senior year if he didn't forgo senior year of HS.  Now, I could be wrong on the whole reclassification and my little tidbit.  Or, even if it is a tidbit .....

Something that hasn't been mentioned was that absolutely joke of a technical foul on Parker Stewart.

First, that stuff happens all the time in games. Second, what Stewart did to Gillis was basically nothing and was the same thing Gillis did to him.

Finally, Hummel says on the broadcast that it was a case of "getting the second guy". Well, then what was the replay for? Because in the replay you can clearly see both guys bumped each other.

Someone needs to put together clips of calls and make it go viral.

So the problem is our recruiting. We are recruiting very very soft kids. That has never been through any hardships in their lives?

My last add to the conversation before I have to go.  I don't care what your past is, confidence and mental is under the iceberg and the majority of reasoning for play.  You don't have to be soft to not be  confident.  Rob is tough as nails, the way he fights on defense, especially undersized, I want him on my team. There is no giveup in him. I would hire him in a heart beat.  Shooting is a different game, its like hitting in baseball.  Sometimes the best who are overthinking it have struggles.

Thank for trying, but Woody had said all summer if our guys are open, I want them to shoot it. This statement was just way out in left field and the reporter never asked about it. Made my head explode when i heard it. Makes no sense.

Correct, it's hard to break a habit or a mindset that has been instilled.  I do beleive once you are coached not to do something it's hard to do something with confidence.  From day one Woodson has given the green light- players can't just go. It takes time and confidence especially when struggling.

Like Trayce, the kid is allowed to shoot, he can make it in practice, but games he doesn't feel comfortable.   Same with Zeller.  Two terrific players!

  14. Talking about the topic.  A friend just forwarded me a podcast Archie did with Goodman before the season.  It was a really good listen.  Archie did say that he doesn't know what Kopp would bring to this team.  Archie also acknowledged there is a talent gap to be upper big ten.  You have to find it and listen.  I would consider Archie an expert with the B1G and current IU roster.  It was objective and reflective.

Todays game, is why Kopp was recruited.  Shoot that 3.

With that said, I appreciate Kopp bringing some fun back to the team.  The kid has such a bright future and he is a leader.

So, I have a question maybe someone on here can answer? Something woods said in an interview, before the last PUstinks game. Woody said he had a conversation with Rob before the game and told him it was ok to be good again. Can anyone explain that to me? I mean who told him he wasn't supposed to be good? How did that statement motivate Rob ?

Not at all saying this is the reason.  Last Archie was quoted in numerous of interviews that they don't need offense from him, just defense.  He didn't want him looking for his shot.  This was a quote across the season.

Thanks for sharing. I also want to say when it's not very interesting it isn't a shot at your post....our staff has consistently put the guys in the best situation for looks all year. Kids just haven't made them. Stats like this prove that...again thanks for sharing!

I agrre with you.  This staff is special, they are respected for what they do and Woodson has been hired as a defensive coordinator, is was an offensive innovator, and he has experience in the big apple.  The dude won't fold, he is going to get us back.  There is a clear awareness, my guess, for what we need.   Got to bet they have some tricks up their sleeves.

No coach, no coach wins without talent.  Talent isn't always the stars. Sometimes talent fits your system, your look, your environment.

For the most part I think folks would agree the coaches that lead these teams are really good coaches, but I am sure in our case we only get these open looks because the defense intentionally does it.

    /s

I don't know about that. D's sag, however they still closeout.  They leave TJD open; however he doesn't add to this stat since he doesn't shoot.

They need the players.  They lead the nation in open 3's and also probably missed 2 footers down the stretch.  Free throws are practiced everyday.

Need the players, need the players.

What is it about indiana that players go there and just stink it up for spotless coaches, and flunk out for coaches who aren't spotless?

Don't know how to answer this, except every recruit is a future All American in IU fans ideas, including me.  The truth is, this roster has one maybe two kids that were top recruits over a few years span.  I'm not talking about the last move up 50 spot ranking rivials does after kids decide where they are going.

We have lost our last 4 games that TJD played 34 or more mins. We are 4-6 in those games in conference play. We are 1-2 in games in the B1G when RT plays 34+ mins.

Coach has said time after time he is going with experience.  This I don't get, and might explain lack of time for some of the soph/frosh.  At somepoint you have to think of next year.  The kids getting the final minutes are experienced and have NEVER won at the NCAA level.  Not at IU, Pit, NW, and other places.

Go with the future, those are the kids that will save this program.

And, recruit the heck out of JUCO and uncommitted kids at this point.  Strategy might be to wait for coaching changes and portal - but, why wait?
