    That NW game though 🤦‍♂️!

Would be pretty nice to be 19-9 (10-8) right now with another road win.

That game could go down as what was symbolic of restoring IU basketball.  We might see it this year, I can guarantee we see it down the road of IU getting back to the IU brand of winning.  Just have the feeling, that game will become legendary.

I have put plenty of blame on the players at times this year, but this near collapse belong to CMW. Bad call to stop shooting the three. Killed our Mo.

This team stuggles playing clock/possession.  It's going to be important if we want to get back to culture from 20 years ago.  However, this team struggles with that style of play.

To me, that's just micromanaging. These guys spend hours upon hours practicing and playing together, both during the season and in the offseason. No way they need 30-60 seconds to be reminded of what to do in late game situations.

Furthermore, IU does not have the personal that have been good under pressure.  Call a timeout, sets up the extended defense.  Problem was, needed to move faster.  Lesson learned by team.  Hopefully, it's part of the journey as the tourney is in reach.

There were more 3's made in this highlight from one game then we have made all year. #24 on Cupps team is a player. Hit a bunch of 3's then i thought he was going to lay it up and he threw it down with 2 hands. Sneaky athlete. Maybe we bring their starting 5 here.

This kid was a made a priority.  IU went hard after him, even with interest from the kid that went to MSU.  They see this kid as a team changer.  No coincidence the next two recruiting classes have stud pgs who are winners and leaders.

Yes he has screwed up so many times CMW sends him to Finland to recruit maybe his most important future player.

The rumors is being spread by a user that goes by Chris something.  He talks so much that what he says become real.  He has fabricated time after time and everyone over there jumps on it.  Don't know how that happens.  Its damaging when he does this.  Heck, we signed Stevens according to him at one time.

We'll see.  I think he's going to have lots of trouble getting the right players.  This season needed to be huge.

I think they are coming, and will.  We have the recruiters and network.

Look at how quick recruiting changes for Kentucky after down years.

We already have a few real good commitments.

Think about it, we were maybe a few months possibly away from the kid at Auburn who will be the top draft pick.

The next two classes have point guards who are winners.  Banks, just watch film on him - I don't know if we have had a kid like that in a long time.

They don't want the big names coaches who have been available.  Mile told the story many times of how we could've had Pitino.  Cal was rumored to have wanted the job badly while at Memphis.  I've had people in Evansville tell me that Pearl would've crawled from Auburn to Bloomington.  Scott Drew reportedly had interest. The problem is that the administration doesn't like the big name coaches that have been available.

We have the right coach and staff.  We need the players.  This year is about the future, not the present.  Although, it would be nice to finish a few of these games.  We need one triple threat playmaker - just one.

Prefacing this with I am a Woodson fan…

My reaction is, when your strength is TJD and you count on him down the stretch, it comes down to:

    -Making FT's

-Playing through non called contact in the B1G

-Playmaking by wings to take pressure off

I want him to.  We need players.

But I also expected a coach with NBA chops and an all star staff to play match up ball better and make adjustments quickly.

Hes not going to go zone.  The Defense kept IU in the game.  The choices were Kopp, Stewart, or Jordan G to guard.  They went with a ball handler if they needed one to play against pressure.  And i'm not calling him a great ball handler.....who do you have with your 2nd, 3rd and 4th pgs out.

So don’t take me wrong, I’m not already advocating for Woodson to be fired.

That said, the incompetence within the administration is to blame. Not the fans lol. Pitino wanted the job. Unless there was a hooker issue, he would likely still be here and playing for number 7.

This fan, me, sees that this coaching staff is taking a bunch of role players, one score first pg, and TJD and have them in every game playing as hard as we seen the past 20 years.  Next year three years, the kids signed up to come in are change makers and the growth of Bates, etc..... it is going to happen.

I’m sure everyone noticed that Wisconsin went to Johnny Davis every time late and we never adjusted and Stewart laid down defensively.

OSU scouted that and literally did the exact same thing.   Branham took the Davis role and IU had no answer.  No adjustment other than to let Race switch over which was ill-fated.

Every team we play will do this because we ain’t adjusting.

I think what you described is that other teams have playmakers down the stretch where you can put the ball in their hands.  Soon, this will be IU.  Coach will get it done.

He was absolutely phenomenally terrible on D.  Just killed us.  Nobody hurt us more than he did.  The staff should never have allowed that to happen.

They needed him in there as a releif ball handler.  There was no other option that was available.

We used to recruit them all the time.  Knight recruited these kids all the time. We stopped and started recruiting athletes and have been doing it now for 22 years. One thing I will give crean. He had one or two classes where he recruited these kids and thats the last time we were worth a damn.

I think this a little bit of a myth.  Recruiting was not as in the publics eye with AAU and ratings; however Knight recruited elite athletes who had skill and an edge.  They were still top 100 recruits, Mr. Basketballs, and from all over the country.  And, most were recruited by other blue-bloods.

It is also well documented, that kids stopped lining up to play for him and he stopped making recruiting a priority.  As the game changed, he hired Mike Davis to open up recruiting in the south to adapt to the needs.

I want to think that we are going in the right direction, but in what way are we really any different this year? Suspensions, injuries, multiple game losing streaks when we need to be building momentum. Our defense is better, I guess. We always seem to have a nice recruit, but never in enough in numbers to build a team set at more than 1-2 positions. Woodson set a goal with the team to defend our home court, but in the last month we lost three games. I don't like Coach Woodson, I love him.  He has to overhaul the line up this off season and figure out how to get the stink off of this program. Blah, blah, blah....it will be beyond awesome if we don't have to have this conversations on this board year after stinking year.  I hate sports.

This team is in the position to win everygame- missed free throws and a non existence 3pt game hurts.  Not to mention, your best on ball defender is hurt.

Culture and the future is the name of the game.  They have a stud pg coming in, they will be able to develop differently in the offseason.

Like with Archie, could they get some wins showing zone from time to time?  Unlike Archie, this is not a packline gimmick defense and with the right pieces will be the cornerstone.

Woodson's offese is similar to Villanova and once they get the right pieces, and the kid from overseas could be a big piece, I beleive the foundation is there to take off.

They have a coach on the sideline who ran the Princeton Offense, they have a coach with Izzos playbook, they have a coach who changed thr NBA offensive look.  They know offense and now its all about foundations for the program.  A major issue, who has won before on this team?  That is the question....all transfers never won, IU players left from Archie never won.

Need shooters and a couple of scores

True!  With that being said, that on4 foul on that Jay was saying should not of been a foul - towards the end.  The continously missed threes, and thebiut of bounds ball were momentum changers.  In addition, still don't understand that and one.

I know Jalen Haralson had some staff members at his game, but I honestly feel like Woody is more focused on the season and isn't prioritizing going and seeing guys. Also Jalen is one of the few guys we are recruiting in state. Kwame is in Florida, Miro is in Finland, and many others are all across the country. Archie and his staff had plenty of time to go watch guys cause the tournament wasn't much of on option with him.

There was a circulation not to long ago, where Coach was out recruiting and Randy Wittman joined him yo watch a game.  Can't get better than those two evaluating talent and talent seeing two Indiana stars and former NBA head coaches at their game.

thanks for the info.  that actually bothers me more than curfew/drugs.  sounds weird maybe, but not supporting your teammates and not taking responsibility for your mistakes is huge to me.  i would hope that is reflected in plying time and roles on Sat.

Same with me!  All I can go by is what I see and first impressions when the tv cameras are not rolling.  That is my only inside look this year that wasn't done by a marketing major or position.

...for more rumors about who will play Sat...if there are gonna be more repercussions, etc.

Not a rumor, and not sure if this is the correct space for here.  Pre-game during shoot around at NW it was interesting.  You would think only 2 players were suspended, maybe 3.  Stewart and Durr were sitting together in full warmups on the bench with no enthusiasm.  Bates was on the other side talking to Rob.  X and Lander were fully enganged in warmup with energy. To me, I was thinking no way X, Lander and maybe Bates is out.  Made sense at the time that maybe it was true with Steward and Durr.

Occasionally, Stewart would have a ball roll his way and he would get up and chuck a long 3.   Again, this was during shoot around, not during the team warmup before opening tip.

So, back to your question - based on engagement with the team, one has to think others took notice, which can be linked to playing time.  My first impression of these players live was from what was mentioned above.

The extent was, he told me he was getting shots to numb the pain because he couldn't walk. After 2 weeks lets hope the training staff is good enough to have him close to, if not 100%.

I hope it is good.  But, that doesnt sound great.  Unless you get true rest, it might play throughout the season.  Nagging injuries without rest can take a toll.

I was just listening to Assembly Call and Jarod made a lot of interesting points about TJD. Basically, if you throw away all the cupcakes, we learn that TJD's offensive efficiency is not exactly stellar. Our Big Ten opponents know what he wants to do and where he wants to go. That said, he asks would TJD serve us better in more of a complimentary role where he's the second option?

It's a legit question. Forcing him into being the first option has not looked good lately. The last 2 games I actually found myself wanting the outside shot from cold shooters rather than watch TJD force up another bad shot that doesn't make the defense work.

There has been a constant that we've been tip toeing around in the last 3 years: a stagnant offense that primarily looks to play through TJD. I'm not saying TJD is the sole problem (he's talented as hell), but perhaps how TJD has been used is the problem. Is it a coincidence that we beat Purdue without him on the floor?

I honestly think we may have had a better shot last night if we had XJ and no TJD. There's gotta be a way we can be more effective with him on the floor...especially when the old 'plan A' is blatantly blowing up in our faces.

One thing that is missing is, before the Purdue game, he was injured.  We don't know the extent.  Stats have changed a little since then.  He might be grinding it out.
