So a before and after pic. She did a very good job.

Still dont understand why I'm losing my hair!!!

And it took CV to figure that out? I actually started cutting my own hair years ago, because the only barber in town was an old school southern racist! Sometimes the worst of things create the worst hair cuts!

Hope she doesn't put a gun in that holster,  you may need some bail money!  Lol

Yeah, even the cap gun that goes with that holster could be a problem in California where she lives! Heck, just the holster could be an issue in California!

  3. Homemade masks!!

Thought I would share this article I received today about the best materials to use if you have to make your own mask.

    https://www.designworldonline.com/cdc-weighs-diy-facemasks-for-the-general-public-heres-the-science-behind-mask-materials/

And speaking of making homemade masks, my daughter yesterday had to make a Target Run! She decided if she had to wear a bandana , she might as well go all the way with the look! That's my girl!!

There are tons of clinical trials ongoing right now for drugs and treatments and a bunch for this drug. It looks like a clinical trial in Sweden was halted early by the DSMB b/c of seizures and vision problems. Vision problems are a common side effect.

I talked to one of our docs who just came off the ward. He's not too hopeful about chloroquine and says there are too many side effects including cardiovascular problems. He's a cardiologist and won't use it.

I also don't think it's necessarily political. But I do think there are really desperate politicians searching for a silver bullet to get us out of this mess. I would love for a drug or treatment, any drug or treatment, to show promise and a quick cure/solution. I'm sure we all would. But in reality, I think it will probably be a menu of hard choices and difficult personal choices over many months until we come out of this.

And you said I was the expert? Face it, at this point nobody is an expert! Anybody that comes off like everybody else is wrong, like the press or politicians is the biggest idiot of them all!!

There is the old story of a meeting about product failures. I believe it was Coleman but I could be wrong, very wrong! Anyway, supposedly the meeting had digressed to finger pointing and the CYA! Finally the CEO stood up and walked to the door and stopped. He turned back around and said unless you all start trying to figure out how to solve the problem you are all fired and walked out the door!

This is probably not a good time to be listening to anyone who is not a doctor or a medical specialist. If the media (or politicians) are getting information straight from qualified medical professionals, then that's great. If not, then good to be skeptical.

Yeah, don’t listen to me either, I was in the medical device field! I know practically nothing about pharmaceuticals!

Lostin, you are on the ground in NY. I'm hearing the hospitals are overcrowded and that is partially because Corona patients can'y get hydroxy chloro-quinine from their Dr. Why would you want to overburden the hospitals by bringing in all these people unnecessarily? If you are not high risk, let the family Dr prescribe it. I'd be pissed if I was a personal physician.

When you hear advertising about medicine, you hear the reward vs risk! All medicine and medical treatment come with risks! That is why you get to hear the auctioneer litany of risks at the end of the advertising.

I think you are actually much more of an expert in FDA research than I am. The research we do is mostly Quality Improvement (QI) and patient safety. I'm "around" clinical trial stuff in our department, but not as familiar with the ins and outs.

My staff do have to deal with the IRB, but not really big clinical trial stuff. We do have a Rapid RCT Lab that has to register on the Clinical Trial website, but my division deals more with process changes over drugs/devices. So, I might be speaking from a position of relative ignorance. Would not be the first time. 😛

And I was hoping you were the expert !

Agreed about the delays. That's why I am angry that our so many leaders (both federal and state level) chose to undermine the severity of this. Delays of 1 to 2 days are bad, but inaction on the order of 1-2 weeks or 1-2 months will really turn out to the be the   Rwdisaster after all of this is over.

Those two governors had better change their tune quickly - they could save countless people.

Lostin, I don’t disagree with you! But you and I having experience with the FDA we need to realize it is no where near that simple! I used to be a certified ISO13485 auditor!  Rapid change in the medical device and pharmaceuticals is not a good idea!! Streamlining the approval system is much needed!

I have never and will never believe that Oswald shot Kennedy. Kennedy was the head of the snake and he got axed by those who hated both him and his brother. You kill his brother first and you have the most powerful man in the world to deal with. You kill the President first and Bobby becomes insignificant. And for the record I do believe the government was involved.

I don't  know anything about the assassinations' other than what I saw on the news at the time. I do remember my High School math teacher telling stories and maybe that's all they were. Said he used to be a cryptographer and every year he had to take a lie detector test with the FBI to insure he wasn't giving away state secrets. The only thing he ever said about the Kennedy's, was when the Bay of Pigs was going down Bobby was running the show because JFK was out chasing woman!

And people forget he was ready to be a Hoosier until Auburn's checkbook came calling.

Yeah around here they still talk about the SEC especially the Cam Newton story and how they can get away with that stuff!

It's crazy, isn't it? I work in healthcare research and actually run an innovations and delivery science center. This kind of "well, let's try it" trial is unprecedented, but we can all agree that we really don't have a choice if it's showing even a glimmer of promise.

Who knows, this may end up being one of the positives to come out of it! I know in medical device, when you want to get something approved you go to Europe or Australia and others because their medical approval  bureaucracy is no were near as restrictive as the FDA!   It's possible some of that bureaucracy gets cleaned up!

A good friend of ours had left NYC to stay with her family right before all this started. She's now hospitalized in Atlanta with COVID-19 and they just started her on hydroxychloroquine regime. She's in her 30s and healthy, so hoping for the best.

Hope all goes well! Keep us posted on the medicine trial, will be interesting to see how it turns out. (praying for the best) Having worked in the Medical Device industry before, this Live Patient trial  going on is unprecedented!

According to a guy I talk to at Home Depot, he says they are busier than hell, because all the guys are coming in to get supplies to work on their "Honey Do" lists.

HD, Lowes, Tractor Supply were all very busy here yesterday, and looks like they have been for quite a while.

There was a time I was worried my son would not be able to get it! What little did I know he has two degrees, one in construction management and the other in Architectural technology! He makes me look like a fool!

"You can't do the job right, unless you have the right tools". That's what I always tell the wife.

Like you guys, I take pride in fixing something myself. My Dad instilled the concept of trying to fix it yourself when I was 8, when he had Mom's wringer washing machine in parts on the basement floor: "Son...you might as well try fixing stuff yourself first, because the repair guy isn't gonna charge you anything extra if you F it up". Good words to live by for the last 60 years or so.

I do all my own repairs, maintenance on vehicles, even built the last 4 houses for us. I'm the epitome of "jack of all trades...master at none".

With my parents living through the Depression, one of the life lessons my Dad passed on was "Why pay someone X dollars to do something you can do for yourself!" One wonders what "Life Lessons" are going to come out of this CV virus?
