  1. Georgia Governor just ordered the closing of Bars and Clubs and also barred any gathering of 10 or more people unless they can maintain a distance of 6'. Did not lock the state down, guess I'm still going to work tomorrow.

That being said even our A.... director, admitted probably within a week we will be shut down. 5 of 11 assembly lines were shut down today because of no shows. Even though the company has said they will pay 2 weeks for Virus related missed days, we all know it will be more than 2 weeks. Praying for all the people on the line that make less than McDonalds employees!

Mr. Spillman had a joke about toilet paper.  Went something like this.

Little old woman walks into to the store and asks what kind of toilet paper they have. Clerk says we have top shelf premium and is our most expensive, and we have our store brand which is ok and more affordable.  Woman asks what's on the bottom shelf, clerk says that's our cheapest called John Wayne toilet paper, its rough and tough and doesnt take shit off anyone.

I remember the first mission trip to Russia, they warned us to bring some TP with us. Turns out their TP was more like Crepe Paper than Charmin. Thankfully it's gotten a lot better over the years!

Just heard about business owners who are taking out lines of credit. In order to pay their employees.

Remember the story of my Grandfather who owned a pipe fitting business in Gary when the depression hit. Kept hoping it would turn around, but refused to stop paying his employees until the money ran out!

Hopefully and praying we don't have a huge amount of similar stories amongst this outbreak, but I have my doubts.

  4. Went into town today because I needed to pick up a med at the pharmacy and send out a care package at the post office. Here in rural Georgia it seemed like everything was business as usual, including being able to find TP?? Ended up having to go a second time because when I went to open up a can of my survival food, the can opener didn't work! Uff DA!

The only problem I have with this is that all the data is wrong. We don’t have enough tests to really know how many people actually have contracted the virus. So you can analyze the existing data all you want and it just doesn’t matter because the data is simply not complete enough to give any true understanding of what’s going on.

There was a story about some statisticians and engineers investigating the damages done to returning aircraft during WW2 in order to try and figure out how to increase the survivability of planes. Finally a pilot spoke up and said you people are idiots, you are only looking at the planes that made it back!

I'm go ing to give IUFLA credit for the story because I believe he posted it elsewhere! (correct me if I'm wrong)

  6. I live on top of one of the southernmost ripples left behind by the glaciers. It is pretty much a 400' mound of rocks with a little bit of dirt on top. I have three sink holes in my yard, the biggest being about 8' across and about 3' deep at the deepest point. When I mow I have a self sharpening blade because of all the rocks in my yard. And yet because of the local in the woods with several islands of trees in the yard, when I get done it's probably the best looking yard I ever had. Still have to figure out how to control the sink holes though! Not a green thumb in spite of my grandfather being dean of botany at Wisky.

  7. I've missed several pages of this thread so SIAP. But I just wanted to interject among all of the medical, financial and unfortunately political news, I've not seen anything about developing a plan to support the emotional needs. SO many people are emotionally weak in this day and age heck it seems like 10% of the people at airports (prior to CV) had support animals! Are we going to see an uptick in Suicide? What about after we come out of this, how many people will have some form of PTSD? I know I am all for "all hands on deck" battling the disease, but there needs to be some people smarter than me working on the emotional side. All I can say is the partisan politicians and media are only making things worse and they need to STOP!

That's a great question.  Players that were not allowed to play their freshman year, are exempt. Not their fault the rules disallowed them from a full four years.  Then there are others, whom I will have to think long and hard on. Like Cody, and Eric. Guess, it will come down to how much they contributed to our program before leaving early.  Then.... there is Noah Vonleh, who quit early on us, who for sure will never get a vote from me.

On the flip side. Some, like Dean Garrett who did not start out as a Hoosier, but was a great contributor.  As well as Keith Smart, who actually won a NC for us get votes from me.

So does that mean 4 year Yogi get's punished because Noah was on the team? Just playing, mile love you! But, like I said I'm so confused!

  9. Update on my co-worker who's son just got back from Germany, and opted to self quarantine so as not to put our boss a blood cancer survivor at risk. He was ordered back to work today! Told you some managers are a....Holes! He self quarantined in our ME lab! Our plant is still running even though other plants around us have shut down and today Detroit automotive shut down. At least tomorrow they will require all employees have their temperature taken with infra red thermometers before they enter the plant?

So I have a co-worker in a VERY difficult place tonight. His son was at school in Germany and also visited Italy. His son arrives back in the States tonight. They have no idea what the quarantine policy will be. The other side of the story, even if he could see his son, that would be a very bad thing as our boss is a blood cancer survivor with no immune system! Being Manufacturing Engineers we can't stay home and do our jobs. Myself even if they shut the plant down I will still be managing  the tooling program being built in China and can actually do 90% of my job from home but I still need direct access to the company server in order get to the product designs! Difficult times ahead!

Update so my co-workers son was not quarantined, but in the best interest of everyone, my co-worker is self quarantined to make sure his son doesn’t develop symptoms. Also there are now two fairly significant plants within a few miles of our plant that are now shut down because they each had an employee that exhibited virus symptoms! We are full boar and why are you behind? Some managers are complete..........

SO everyone is stressed right now so I thought I'd bring this here. Even though this was done in seriousness in one of the hardest hit places in the world I had to laugh.

My Russian friend has a friend that lives in Milan Italy, where masks among other things are hard to come by. This was her attempt to make a home made mask!

Showed it to my boss who is in one of the highest risk categories being a blood cancer survivor with no immune system. Later someone was talking to him about things and I commented I could make a mask for him! He laughed, and told me to GTH!

    It will happen in GA

We have staggered shifts, some start at 5, some at 6, myself at 7, and the office people that pretty much bring nothing to the table except demands start at 8 AM! The 8ers could care less about YOUR destress time at lunch! Can't tell you how many times just last week, they tried to bring me their problems to me after 11!! Their lunch starts at 12!

Ohio governor just announced mandatory closure of all bars and restaurants for an indefinite period of time.  Restaurants with carry out, delivery, or drive through may be open for that...just no regular sit down.

Oh crap, hope this doesn't happen in Georgia,  then I'll have to find some alternate plans to get away from the idiots that have NO RESPECT for personal time at lunch trying to get away from them!!!!
