By the way Rico, in acceptance of your challenge, can't wait for my order of Skyline,  Gold Star and Steak and Shake chili cans from Amazon so I can tell you MY chili is superior!!

Remind me to NEVER ask someone from Cincinnati for food advice! It may have something to do with coming in a can?  As for my choice between the  two Skyline easily! Although the Skyline had a definite nutmeg flavor which I don't care for. The Goldstar was just NASTY as far as I'm concerned I ended up pulling what was left of the dog out and eating it while throwing the bun with chili away! The Steak and Shake is way better than the SL GS versions!

Somehow, I thought we already did this one! However, going back through the previous pages which I enjoyed very much, here is the Best Resteraunt Buffet in each State!

Have to say the GA choice is only a block away from my cardiologists office, I wonder if he would recommend it? 😄

Actually have to say, this is one of the more interesting lists yet! I am a huge fan of ethnic cuisine, and it seems many of these selections are ethnic, not your traditional American buffet selection!

Some degree of subjectivity is involved in articles like this, but they're straight up wrong on their Kentucky selection. Because the best grilled cheese in this commonwealth comes from my kitchen.

Cast iron pan. Medium high heat. Let warm for 5 mins. Preheat oven to 450.

Thick cut Sourdough. Spread cream cheese on the inside of each piece. Fill with one slice each of American, Swiss and Mozzarella (or Muenster/Havarti for a more sophisticated audience. But let's get real....90% of the time you're making grilled cheese, it's either for kids or drunk adults, so sophisticated can take a hike.)

Cover the outside of each piece with butter....the real stuff (get outta here with that margarine #$&%). Griddle each side until golden brown. Place skillet in preheated oven for 2-3 minutes.

Cut. Eat. Pairs well with damn near anything.

Caution: can be habit forming. Not good for cardiovascular system.  Eat more than one and you may not #$&% for 3-4 days.

Sounds like a great grilled cheese! If only the writer had known. Tell you what, send me one and I will vote you best in the nation!😎

  5. Got home after the holidays and realized I didn't have anything cooked for the week. So I now have some Chili in the slow cooker for overnight! Thought came to mind, can you overcook chili? I mean it always seems the longer it cooks the better, but again can you overcook chili?

As I type this, a funny family anecdote comes to mind. Was going to heat up some leftover chili in the microwave and commented to my brother I was going to nuke it. My brother being  an IU grad in physics and having worked at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories for the Atomic Energy Commission said where I come from Nuking takes on a whole new connotation!

Drroogh has been doing a fantastic job with this thread.

Not sure if we have done this one yet :

The Most Expensive Restaurants in Every State

Thanks mile for the input during the Thanksgiving doldrums! Unfortunately, they are way out of my price range! 😕Really do appreciate though, everything you do here! I think of you as a close friend!

More in my price range. Most charming old fashioned diner of each state!

This has got to be the best list yet, as each state has a link to a whole new list for each state.

So once again in the discussion, under the many California links above is In-N-Out. Flying out tomorrow to have Thanksgiving with the Grand Kids. I am going to have to highly suggest we stop at In-N-Out so that Grandpa can experience one of California's most famous foods. Or maybe if we can find our way to Pink's! Kind of like when I was in Chicago for my Son and Daughter-in-laws wedding, going to Portillo's!😀
