According to a guy I talk to at Home Depot, he says they are busier than hell, because all the guys are coming in to get supplies to work on their "Honey Do" lists.

HD, Lowes, Tractor Supply were all very busy here yesterday, and looks like they have been for quite a while.

There was a time I was worried my son would not be able to get it! What little did I know he has two degrees, one in construction management and the other in Architectural technology! He makes me look like a fool!

"You can't do the job right, unless you have the right tools". That's what I always tell the wife.

Like you guys, I take pride in fixing something myself. My Dad instilled the concept of trying to fix it yourself when I was 8, when he had Mom's wringer washing machine in parts on the basement floor: "Son...you might as well try fixing stuff yourself first, because the repair guy isn't gonna charge you anything extra if you F it up". Good words to live by for the last 60 years or so.

I do all my own repairs, maintenance on vehicles, even built the last 4 houses for us. I'm the epitome of "jack of all trades...master at none".

With my parents living through the Depression, one of the life lessons my Dad passed on was "Why pay someone X dollars to do something you can do for yourself!" One wonders what "Life Lessons" are going to come out of this CV virus?

  3. Dang, what a cad I am. (old England slang for an unreliable person)

Re-realized that I get my dozen or so project updates on Monday from Sherry. Don't really know her other than the weekly updates, but about a week and a half ago I found out she lives in WuHan!

Just sent her my personal well wishes!

Thanks here for helping me keep it real!

Spain may catch Italy in total number of cases.  Likely won't pass them in deaths, but total cases a possibility.

And the strange thing about Spain! My friend talking to her friend in Spain, is that the people there are actually of a nature where they are really following the lockdown guidelines! Instead of going to spring break and such!

A bit of good news...Italy's number are definitely decelerating the last two days...here's my charting for the last five days in Italy:

               Total cases-deaths- -Recoveries - Active cases-death rate

               80,589            8,215          10,361            62,013 10.19%
               86,498            9,134          10,950            66,414 10.56%
               92,472          10,023          12,384            70,065 10.84%
               97,689          10,779          13,030            73,880 11.03%
             101,739          11,591          14,620            75,528 11.39%

You need to build a spreadsheet that adds in the differences fields so we don't have to calculate in our own heads that after averaging about 6000 new cases the last date was 5000!

Now I'm staring to sound like my bosses boss since we started telecommuting! OMG I've turned into one of them!!

On Russia, heard this one the other day:

    Putin going through Customs

    Q Anything to declare

    Putin - No

    Q Occupation?

    Putin - No, just visiting

On the survival side, my friend is scared, she has friends in Milan, Spain and France and the first hand accounts she hears she says are scary! Thing is Russia is somewhat of a closed country so they are behind, but it is coming! And yes the numbers are probably not reality! Haven't actually heard any stories of testing so who knows if it's propaganda or just don't know!

Back on the humor side when things started to become clear in Russia one of the jokes was,

Finally Russians can go visit the Museums and historic sites because all the Chinese Tourists are gone!

Absolutely,  Now, Russia, there is a country you can believe.  Only 4 deaths in Vladland.  :coffee:

Talking to my best friend today, even she complained that the government in Russia had failed in that they had issued a stop work policy without issuing a stay in place policy! She said the parks were FULL of people! I'm worried about my friend and those around her!!!!!!!

My boss is working on one of our 7 COVID-19 wards in our hospital and my other MD faculty are being called in to staff wards in the coming weeks. I

God bless you your boss and all of you on the front lines!! In the mean time, my bosses boss is piss..d we as first time telecommuters aren't feeding him the Power Point Presentations and Excel spreadsheets he is demanding? I guess in perspective, doing what is needed now to help the company come out on the other side is also important!

Social Distancing Scorecard map! I must be helping Georgia keep from getting a D because I probably am cutting out about 90 miles a day during the work week!

    https://www.unacast.com/covid19/social-distancing-scoreboard

So Thursday I had to go in to the Pharmacy to pick up some meds, and it seemed to me like it was business as usual?? All of the businesses seemed to have normal amounts of traffic!

I guess my perception wasn't wrong, my county scored an F!!!!

We are staring down the potential of30% unemployment.  How many suicides, new drug addicts, addicts dying of od's or withdrawal because they cant afford the drug or treatment.  The increase in crime rates that would likely result putting innocent people at risk.  I know it cant be quantified but I would alot.

And for me this is also a constitutional issue. How long will we go letting our rights be violated.  For example, my wife cant work because if she gets reported on her massage license would be permanently revoked.  But her job is low risk and she has 15-20 clients a week and complete control of her workspace. If 2 consenting adults, her and a client, assume the risk and book an appointment, why is that a problem when you still have millions of people interacting in close proximity at grocery stores everyday?  Ive noticed people are not social distancing and asked to do.

By all means have precautions in place, educate, and consider putting the draconian measures in places that are having the problems.

Ahh the problems of trying to find a one solution fits all! Not to be political but the BIG government solutions are not solutions for you or me!

  12. People,  I had a somewhat friend live with me for three years plus. Only because otherwise he would have been homeless! He would utilize the emergency room like his primary doctor because they couldn't refuse him! He never paid any of his ER bills!

Read somewhere, maybe here but at the begging of this I read that ER was complaining about how hypochondriacs were overwhelming ER! If you think you have symptoms, call your Primary office, or tellamed!  If you don't have access to tellamed, PM me and I will give you my access! Stop overwhelming the hospitals!

Right there with you. Growing up in Gary, Indiana. I can remember walking our neighborhood on race day.  And never missing a moment of the race. As EVERYBODY, had their radios turned up for them and everybody to hear.

Ahh the days of AM radio before TV became popular!

    I wonder about people sometimes...

Have to entertain yourself somehow with all of this lockdown!

That brings back memories. Used to have a civilian job driving all over Ft. Benning in a truck. At least twice I could tell there was an Apache practicing their targeting on me. I just thought I'm glad I could help them practice.

Well, let's put it like this... I drive a Nissan (Maxima) to work every morning, and between semis, duallys, and pick-ups, I'm the rare exception.

But they all drive them like they're Ferrari's...

It's pretty much the same here in Georgia and I drive on a two lane highway! We probably have a few more cars. But Trucks are the majority.

I guess I don't work for 1 of them. I spent hours last night and this morning reaching out to some of our clients that owe money but are big enough to endure and was able to get several invoices paid, only to find out that we will all be laid off and therefore will not be getting paid. The cherry on top is that no commissions will be paid to me for my sales. Big picture we will find a way to survive and as long as Ayden is OK I can handle the rest but not the news I was hoping for today.

    Praying for all involved!

And here they finally decided to shut the plant down for two weeks.

    There will be an end!!

Talking with my vendor program manager in Wheat Ridge CO today, they have 11 direct Chinese employees. Two of them have been on lock down in WuHan, one of them I get weekly tooling updates from. They are now thinking come end of the month they will be allowed to go back to the office!

Actually kind of upset that this post seems to have been completely blown by!! I am talking about people at ground zero! People I communicate with on a weekly basis!
