Thanks.  This is a good development but speaks to a larger point.  There’s an inefficiency in the market we can exploit if we make a point to get our foreign contacts going.  We should get one of our (many) admins focused on that primarily if we aren’t already doing it.   The international-izaton of the game is accelerating and is no fad.  Four of the very top players in the NBA are Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, and Doncic.

You aren’t getting that caliber of a guy because they have so many options over there.  But, as we’ve seen with Arizona, you can get quality college players overseas.  IU has as much to offer these types of kids as anyone and not everyone is beating the bushes hard enough over there.   We’ve got the manpower and budget to pull it off.

Yes, this is something I've harped on for a while.  Probably every team in the B10 has had a foreign player that was a starter or ccontributor over the past decade, while we've had essentially none.  As you mention, it's a fertile recruiting field overseas - one with players with more experience and fundamental skills than a lot of HS recruits.

I can't remember a more impressively built freshman than Jakai. Dude looks like he is a 25 year.ild man that has been lifting hiw whole life.

I am excited for him to get healthy, and see what he becomes. He seems loaded talent, potential and and a really competitive mindset.

Those two look like what NFL linebackers did not that long ago.  No doubt today's S&C has come a long way.   Whether or not it improves BB ability or prevents injury - I have no idea.

As far as being muscled up, remember Jim Rowinski at pu?  Not a bad playeras I recall.

GC is another guy I’ve been observing over at the Mike Woodson camp. We’re going to grow to love this guy. Other fan bases will grow to hate him.

I'd be overjoyed to have a Jay Burson/Aaron Craft type on the team - and Gabe could very well be the guy.  I think McNeeley would be another guy our fans would love and others would hate.

FWIW, the Hysterics guys have a great interview with Gallo this week. Just finished it. He's still one of my favorites! And I think he'll be an even better player this year than last.

He might just be our sleeper outside shooter this year.

Fingers crossed.  Considering the improvement he showed last season, despite being limited during the summer due to the injury, I hope he can use this (healthy) off-season to improve just as much (or more).

That's a Duke beat writer, FYI. And the guy he quotes saying it is Duke and Rutgers says flat out that "no one knows".

Not saying it is us, but people saying it's not us seem as credible as the similar group of folks saying Mac Mgbako was going to KU based on..... nothing.

It's funny how beat writers always think the team they cover leads for a recruit, lol.  And then follow up with a disclaimer that they really don't know.

Maryland guy: Maryland leads for Queen

Rutgers guy: Rutgers leads for Harper

Kansas guy: Kansas leads for Mgbako

Watching the Aaron Torres podcast and he said he is hearing it is Duke or Rutgers

Probably read what those writers were 'hearing'. 😉

Oh no I work at an amazing company now. It’s great. Just saying my experiences at several other large corporations was that they would basically suck you dry…overwork you..tell you they value you, value work life balance, but when you actually needed that time or you took a day off your boss was calling you chewing you out or making you feel guilty for taking time away or trying to get you to come back early from vacation or come back early from Fmla when my little girl was born. Being salary employee you felt obligated to be there…all the while they would have HR seminars touting their work life balance initiatives…it was so bad that they wanted you to volunteer on your days off for things like Habitat or other things but do it outside of work hours…but make sure you wear the corporate T-shirt.

I tell people to be careful…work hard, do your best, but don’t you ever sacrifice your family or happiness because you are expendable to them. We all are replaceable and often times they will make monetary decisions no matter how long you been there to cut those who have most tenure to save money. Just be judicious and mindful because I wasn’t. I thought if I sacrificed and made them lots of money and was always there they would value me more than just an avg employee…and nope…that isn’t the case at a lot of places as I learned that multiple times. I’m not complaining but just warning those not to make the same mistake I did.

Thank God he opened a door in my life and put me at a great employer and making more now than ever before…all the while encouraging me to leave work early, use my time, don’t answer my emails, and they even feed us. Big change and I’m greatful! Just know that like work ive been on some teams and played for some coaches that are on both sides of that spectrum…some valued you and some didn’t…so can’t blame a kid for looking out for himself.

It took me (too many) years to accept that the company will do what benefits it and as an employee, you do what benefits you. "Loyalty" isn't much of a factor.

Washington was 16-16 last year overall and 8-12 in the PAC which was good enough for 8th.  Does Paul change that?

From the player's standpoint, it may be some see it as an early exit into being an income earner with little emphasis on individual or team success.  Just mercenaries.
