  1. I am all ears right now but someone in favor of this hire help me grasp something...

If this was Dolson’s guy...or even let’s say he was Dolson’s 3rd or 4th but he was high enough that it wasn’t even worth looking at proven coaches still in the tourney he could’ve interviewed and offers big money to which wouldn’t be a gamble at all...if Dolson believes “This IS our man who’s gonna do it...”

Why is he worth a measly 6 years 22million?

To me with him not being on anyone’s radar besides many people saying “NO WAY” it’s hard not to take this as “We just went with our boy for a bargain price...that’ll do the job if not oh well.”

I’d actually have felt a bit better if they had over paid him even just to show “this is how confident we are that we have OUR man.” Because that’s what’s being sold...no most programs wouldn’t hire him but he’s perfect for IU...”

Well if he’s so good for us why is he worth peanuts?

Completely agree. If he can convince TJD to come back, and most of Franklin, Lander, Race and Geronimo to stay, then maybe he can get off to a good start and build some momentum. He's going to have to figure out how to add to that as well though, which is maybe an even bigger concern.

More critical than ever for a coach to get off to a good start though.

And if he doesn’t it’ll tell you all you need to know for what’s ahead in recruiting. These are the “easy sells.” These kids have every reason to stay for any coach who turns their crank. If he can’t sell them we’re screwed. If he DOES it doesn’t mean he’s gonna kill it in recruiting, but if they mostly or all leave, we are screwed.

Nobody is saying he should just hover around the three point line and avoid contact.  It’s just about having a versatile game where he can face up and hit a jumper reliably.   That doesn’t mean he can’t be a physical presence who kicks butt inside.  As we’ve seen recently, having bigs who can hit a jumper can really open the floor for wings and guards and allow for space.  Last year, without any bigs who could shoot, the defense would just pack it in on us and stymie our offense.

Agreed. There’s NEVER a negative to a big body that can hit from outside. Too many old school mindsets always assume if a post can shoot well they’re just a stretch 4....I do agree there are too many kids who think they’re guards when they’re posts...and you gotta scout that, but more skills on any player at any positions is never a bad thing.

He really was. Would have been nice to seen him get that title. Unfortunately young people now just see him as a fat prankster on TNT. He was amazing in his prime. He would abuse most of these kids in the league now. 6’4 maybe and dominated the board and scored any way he wanted.

I’d argue inch for inch the best PF ever...inch for inch anyway

If Zion reaches Barkley level he will truly be an all time great. Barkley, for his physical build, was an absolute freak. His athleticism, his skill, but more than anything, is drive are unparalleled IMO outside people like MJ, Kobie, LBJ. Sir Charles was a beast and and player of the highest order. Way above, IMO, opinion guys like Reggie, Karl Malone, or Ewing from his general time period. All those guys were great. Make no mistake. But I always found Barkley on a different level.

Barkley was SO dang good. Wow

I’m starting to wonder if we will regret the Brogdon signing. I mean he really does need load management! May have to think about trying to sit him some along with Vic for a playoff run.

This is exactly why we went with Middleton. GREAT guy and if we could’ve had both absolutely, but for the price he was too much of a health risk. :/

One thing to note on that, and it's certainly not the biggest deal in the world, the more important part is playing the game in your arena with your sitelines, etc., but just to note that when the Lakers and Clippers play each other the visiting team cannot use their locker rooms, coaches rooms, etc.

They have to use the visiting locker rooms and operate as if they're a true visiting team.

I’m learning unique stuff but that makes complete sense

Congrats to Vinsanity. Today, he became the first NBA player to appear in 4 different decades: 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.

One player drafted in the same draft as Carter (Tyronne Lue) has won a title as a head coach, and Vince is still playing. Decent draft too: Dirk, Pierce, Jamison, Rashard Lewis, Bibby, Jason Williams, Cuttino Mobley...

Him still playing at his age is nothing short of REMARKABLE.

I did not realize that the Pacers had the most home wins in the Eastern conference the past 10 years

Also made the playoffs in 20 of past 30years. Maybe they don't have any titles but are the model of consistency.

Yes they are. You’re hard pressed to find truly BAD years for the Pacers.

Why does former Pacers always torch us it seems. Hill and Matthews lit us up. If Bird was still running us he’d probably trade Vic for both.

Hill has really stepped his game up this season in the absence of Brogdon. Donte has blossomed well also. There was talk that Donte’s defensive improvement and potential was another reason the coaching staff leaned more towards keeping Middleton over Brogdon. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I really like the upside of Donte!!

I think it came down to I think Middleton give them a better chance to win this year and thus lock up Giannis long term but I think in the next couple years Brogdon will be the better player and perhaps an all star.

I know a big question was Brogdon’s ability to stay healthy

I know what you mean. He is on my fantasy team. Do you think they made a mistake in resigning him instead of Brogdon?

I’ve gone back and forth many times on it. I’d honestly say it’s almost a push. I slightly lean towards wishing we still had Brogdon. I know the fan base is very split over it. They can see both sides.

Just to clear things up for everyone, Kyrie and KD are not on the Knicks.

It was a bad trade made worse by the fact that they didn't even land their two targets.

Exactly. I can’t stand the punk so much he makes my brain not work. :))
