  1. There are rescues that will let you sponsor a horse in every state. They normally ask for a monthly donation of whatever amount you would like. My daughter paid a little over 2K to save Damon from a place that was ready to send him off to slaughter (eating horse meat is prohibited in the US, but both Canada and Mexico use them as a food source). She had him shipped to a barn in Oswego, Illinois that she pays I think it's $300 per month to pasture board him. They feed him grain, hay, and any supplements she provided. He stays out in pasture, but there are run-ins for them to get in out of the rain. She goes out there every day. She doesn't have to, but she does... Her horse has a bad high ringbone in his ankle, so he can't be worked hard, but she does bareback ride him occasionally, and plans to go on short trail rides this summer. You can see how much she loves him...
  2. Yes they do...a LOT of shelters, off the track thoroughbreds, and horse rescue places. My middle daughter (the one in Naperville) rescued her horse from a kill pen in Louisiana... Here's a pic of him socializing with other horses at the barn she stables him at...he's the big guy in the middle...
  3. Did you get a pic with Marla Collins? 😍
  4. I agree...It's sad how rude some people have become...
  5. Shoulda said, "So what are you? A Queen?"
  6. It's a different world...I went to kindergarten when I was 4 (born in October, school started in August) and I walked the 5 blocks from our 1st Avenue house in Terre Haute to Woodrow Wilson Elementary school every day by myself... They'd lock my Mom and Dad up for that today...
  7. "Purdoobie" sounds like something you'd roll out of weed fertilized by cow dung...
  8. Three things about Archie... I think he's a good coach who has a specific idea on how to build a team and a program...In retrospect, it was not the way a blue blood program can do it because the expectations are too high and success has to come sooner rather than later...No latitude for the egg we laid last year... I think he'll get another P6 gig eventually...he may take another mid-major job first, but I can see a second tier ACC/SEC/B12 school giving him another chance (like Georgia did with Crean)...And I think if he's given long enough, he'll produce results... I think one of the reasons for the silence is he felt betrayed. I remember when all of the rumors were going back and forth, and one was that after CAM's meeting with Dolson, he felt like he'd get another year...It'll be interesting when he breaks that silence...
  9. Three teams that the "in limbo" could greatly affect are Ohio State with Washington and Liddell (that's 32 ppg total laying on the table), Maryland with Ayala and Wiggins (30 ppg total), and Rutgers with Harper and Baker (24 ppg total)...
  10. Speaking of Ryno, here's a pic from 1984 sporting an official Ryno jersey my wife had bought me...She's always been good about keeping me stocked up on Cubs/Bears/IU gear... I think this was taken at the St Louis Zoo...
  11. Didn't know where to put this, so I'll put it here... ESPN keeps a pretty accurate running tab on comings and goings in each conference...Here's the skinny on the B1G so far... When the dust settles on who is staying in the draft, we should be able to start seeing some prognostications on how the conference season will go...
  12. Shawon is my favorite Cub of all time... There were so many expectations placed on him...He never quite got to be what some people imagined, but he always hustled and played hard...
  13. The straight through 11 hour drive for a face to face is pretty impressive... Apparently Woody thought so too...
  14. Article on GA Issac Green This kid looks like an up and comer...
  15. I love minor league baseball...When I was in Chicagoland Kane County had an A team (Cougars) in the Midwest League. A friend of mine (Insurance guy) use to rent the right field pavilion 6 or 7 times a year for clients, and he'd always invite our family. All you could eat ballpark food (Burgers, dogs, brats) and free beer... The Cougars were an A's affiliate at the time...Fun times...
  16. I'd have been better with Machado giving Edson the Fernando Vina treatment ala Albert Belle... Going for the lower legs 30 feet from the bag is a dirty play any way you slice it... Too bad pitchers like Bob Gibson aren't around today...Machado would definitely be paying the price for that chicken crap play...
  17. That's embarrassing...a lifelong Bears fan too... 😯
  18. If I'm not doing something family oriented and a B1G game is on, I'm watching. I also love "Big 10 Basketball in 60" for games I miss. Out of our conference, I probably watch 10 games a year.
  19. Well, I'll rule out the Bears Bobby Douglass and Cade McNown...😁
  20. In Texas, if they're out with their parents at a restaurant, and they're over 18 they can... 😉
  21. That struck me a little...until I realized that any children born out of the frenzy in Dunn Meadow after RMK's firing can legally drink now...
  22. I didn't ignore anything...He had one good year shooting the 3 sandwiched by 2 mediocre years...And there are a lot of things in play...Maybe B1G coaches defended him differently...Maybe the injury to his hand was a big factor...But the fact is, in actually his last 16 games last year he shot 33% from the field overall and 21% from 3... Now, I'm not relying solely on statistics here either...I watched a lot of those games, and he absolutely killed his team in some of them... I've said numerous times that I hope he can recover his confidence and be an asset to this team...Coach Woodson will assess that in practices and early games... If he can't, we do, thankfully, have other alternatives...
  23. No, I saw it... Look, we all want the kid to get his stroke back and be a dependable shooter in Woody's offense...If he is, I think we'll be top 3 in the B1G... No one wants him to fail or "expects" him to fail...I'll be happy as hell if he shoots 40% from 3...
