UC isn’t going to let a Brian Kelly situation happen again. Short of someone like ND/Texas/Bama/etc giving him a blank check, they’ll pay him. Only place he’d really want to leave for is OSU, and I think they’re pretty set. He’s a Columbus native, so it’s impossible to be closer to home without being at OSU. The fact that OSU had a choice between Fickell and Day as an in-house replacement for Urban is the definition of “embarrassment of riches”.

Indeed they do. When my kids were little, if they fell asleep on the couch or the floor, Addison would be right next to them. Wouldn’t be asleep, but sitting in what we called her “Sphinx” pose: belly on the floor, paws flat, head straight up. And when one of us came back in the room, she’d look at us as if we said “You are relieved and may leave your post” and trot off.

One of our Bostons grew into the role of an alpha female. Might have only been 20 lbs or so, but didn't have "little dog syndrome". She knew how big she was, but didn't care. She was in charge. Fortunately, she never had to put it to use, but I have zero doubts that if someone ever broke in, they'd wind up with more than one chunk of flesh missing. Just hypothetically, going 8-4, 7-5, 9-3, 8-4 with a 2-2 record in bowl games would get you unemployed at a place like Georgia or Texas. Indiana has never had 4 straight seasons with bowl appearances. I think Allen is completely capable of records like that and would turn us into a perennial top 25 program. And for the short/medium term, that's a perfectly acceptable outcome for me.

And beaten Saban twice doing it. No question that Saban is #1 of this generation. But like Ric Flair's famous saying goes, "To be the man...you've gotta beat the man", and Dabo has done that twice. That said, I think the only active coaches with national titles are Saban, Dabo, Brown, Orgeron and Jimbo. Anyone I'm not thinking of? Has never had a losing season as a head coach, never failed to make a bowl game and his biggest "crime" is being in the same division with Nick-f***ing-Saban. A hair away from a national title in his own right, and it's pretty commonly accepted that he had more to do with Auburn's 2010 title than Chizik did.

Just a mini-project for today. The kids are constantly leaving the light in the basement bathroom on, so (to quote Tim Allen).....I rewired it. Hooked the fan and the light to a Lutron motion sensor which is on a 5 minute timer. And since I had to plug the hole where the separate fan switch used to be, an auto-on night light. It's not a smart switch or anything (didn't see the need), but the convenience will be worth it. Edit: And as is my personal policy, it went back together with a screwless switchplate cover. My wife says I'm mildly obsessed with switches and outlets, and she's probably right, but I like how much cleaner they look.

It would take less firepower than that to occupy Paris.
