This all changes with the statement...depends who the coach is. new or same. depends WHO. You can't ask any of your questions or have them solved without the who is. i know you didnt want that in but it doesnt matter until you know.

Well sadly it's a rebuild either way.  How sad

My original thought was with how lacking we are do we take best player available and hole for the best?  I was looking at some of the statistical leaders in the country.  2 guys in the top 10 of 3 pt % are averaging 9 points a game.  Same for assists leaders.  I know we need scoring in a bad way.  One of the top scorers in the nation, also shoots 29% from three.

I'm almost of the notion,  bring in talent and let them figure it out.  Just has to be spread out across the floor.

  2. For now, I'll make some assumptions.

Cupps, Galloway, Reneau and Sparks are back.

Other than that no clue.  I even give it a 50/50 that one of those 4 are gone.

I'd ask Leal to give it one more run.  And I wonder, what's the point of bringing in new freshman if we run them off once they finish up their sophomore year.  I'd be OK with Gunn coming back.  I think with the right system he could actually thrive as a guy off the bench.  He has to accept his role however and lean into the coaching.  Stop with the 18 foot jumpers.

  3. I woke up thinking about this.  The intention is how to rebuild, not who is the coach, ok?  However I do understand that will make a difference.   Get a new coach, expect at least 1 guy to follow from that previous school,  maybe more.

How to hit this portal?  Clearly the need is guards and one more big. Do you go best player available or target guys with specific skills and characteristics?

Can we get another late highly touted freshman decommit?  I know we have so many question marks that it's hard to answer.

Also have to factor rerecruiting your own guys.  Who do you ask back?  Do you want an Indiana kid, going to be a junior, in Gunn.  Looking like Banks is out.  And Gunn has been getting more minutes.  Is Cupps even a high level B1G player?  And the word is Leal is done with ball.

I paid the bartender's rent back in the day.  He loved me.  We had a lot of fun their back in the day.  So dumb

I'm not as knowledgeable on IU Baseball but I can't remember a road series sweep of a team like Baylor in a looooooooooong time.

Don't know anything about Baylor bats but I'd assume being in the south they have some advantages.  Win 2 and I'm impressed.  Sweep.  I lean up in my seat and start looking at schedules, weather, and making road trip plans.  This team is legit.  @btownqb has been saying it for 8-9 months.

See? I don't get this line of thinking at all...

I mean, @Hoosierdave I'm not trying to tell anyone how to think, but #1 you're kicking dirt on the "corpse" before it stops breathing, and #2 I would never, under any circumstances, root for IU to tank or lose to achieve some sort of perceived advantage in what may or may not be a coaching search...

I really just don't get it...

I get the logic, I just don't support the idea.  Play, fight, win.  Show some friggin pride.

Almost every game at Carver for the woman's is sold out and ticket get really expensive.  As much as i do not like her personally, she is good for women's basketball in general.  There are so many young kids here in iowa that want to play basketball now because of her.  Still don't like her myself.

Can't remember what happened a few years ago that stuck in my crawl but she hit a game winner or something and instead of celebrating with her teammates she jumped up on the scorers table and was like the douche bag popping bottles and celebrating by themselves with no friends.

She has improved from an optics perspective in that regards.

truly believe Crean or Miller could have gotten those results with those players.

For sure.  And look how the defense has progressively gotten worse after CMW laughed and said what's a pack line?  Huh.  Trayce set our all time block record and we got worse.  Granted a healthy X likely would have kept things similar from year 1 to 2.

Again, though, you ignore the first 2 years and why we terminated Miller...

Hey, I'll be the first to say this year has been disappointing and hasn't met what I expected of the team. And that's fine. Any coach can have an off year...Beard, Pearl, Musselman have all had bad seasons...it's the way college basketball has always worked...Kids graduate/leave and new kids take their place...

We always look at Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State (while holding our noses) and wonder why we can't be like them...One word...We don't have stability. And firing up the coaching carousel every time we have a bad game isn't a recipe for success....

I'm looking at his body of work.  Literally he's doing the same thing he did in New York that got him fired 10 years ago.  It's wild.

You and I and a dad at the ymca could have gotten the same results the last 2 years.  And remember how under utilized Parker Stewart's three point shooting was?  Probably chose to forget that.  We should have been better that year too.

In the market sense, volatility is defined as changes in out-of-the-money SPX options. There is even an index that tracks it: VIX.  This article goes into a little bit more detail, but basically, if the weighted average price for puts goes up while the weighted average price for calls goes down, there are more hedges being created indicating a potential move down.  The opposite is also true.

Clear as water, clear as mud or somewhere inbetween?

My next day at the firehouse, I shall devote some time to YouTube and reading about this.  I was really trying to figure out how to drop some mo ey into the ai machine that bezos dropped like 50 million in.  I think the growth potential is crypto like.  But it's not public yet.

Mike Woodson is NOT going to quit, or retire for that matter. I think some of you overlook that the guy got off of back surgery and 6 weeks later led IU to a Big 10 championship and was the Big 10 PoY. That's not to say, as @Artesian_86 iterated, that because he's "IU Royalty" he shouldn't be canned if the situation warrants (it doesn't), but it does show a toughness that you can't overlook. He's mentally tough and he's a competitor...Quitting isn't in him

Why did we fire Archie Miller? Because he could not beat Purdue or get to the NCAA tournament. Yet we get a guy who accomplishes both of those tasks in his first two years, and because we have one down year, we're ready for Dolson to go back to the donors, ask for another $12.5 million dollars to cover what would be essentially admitting he made a mistake. He's not going to do that.

Out of respect for CMW I won't post what I just posted to you.

I think there is an exit plan in place.  Not sure what that looks like but this is clearly not working and CMW is not a teenager.

I'm fine if CMW can stick around.  Great man, great mentor.  Loved by all.  I want that to remain.

I see 2 scenarios.   CMW stays 1 more year and May comes in as offensive coordinator and declared coach in waiting.   Pay May the 3 mil or whatever it takes, drop a few mil on NIL and instantly fix this trash.

Or, even less likely,  CMW exits gracefully into the office and we let Pearl bring 4 or 5 guys over from Auburn,  again have instant reload.

The optics are so bad right now.  Look at the women's game last night.  The fans are not the problem.   It's the coaching and the product on the floor.  We don't need to be reminded every day of how bad this has turned.

As part of an NIL deal here in iowa, she has her own cereal that you can purchase.

You have no idea how big of deal she is in Iowa.  She is a HUGE draw for anything she does.

Oh.  I was like no way that was at Assembly last night.  Iowa corn feds can eat that crap.
