  1. When we were going to school in Bloomington, we had a cat that we tried to harness/leash train. He would just flop around and embarrass us so much that we gave up.
  2. I’ve actually seen a lot of what you mentioned in the media and have heard it from friends. The “they look just like normal Europeans, this isn’t the Middle East or Africa” kind of comments. I totally get what you are saying and to some extent agree with you. But I also understand why people feel that way. European and North American people tend not to care that much about the developing world (sh*thole countries) when stuff likes this happens. My wife even got in trouble when she was a teacher in Carmel many years ago, when she taught about Rawanda. Parents came after her big time for exposing their kids to it and wasting their time. I am LOVING how Apple, Nike, and other big companies are stopping sales in Russia. Apparently they don’t even get the new Batman movie this weekend.
  3. She knows him as well as any American I feel like. And it is a very sobering article.
  4. Finally got to sit down and watch the game. When XJ is on, he’s a beast. I get the Green comparisons, but we XJ is better by far. Good to have Rob back, we will need him for Rutgers. I actually liked it when Woodson refused to call a time out and told them to “figure it out.” Felt a bit like the Knight days, though Knight took it to the extreme a bit too many times. Next game is a season maker or season killer. They had better show up and jump all over Rutgers. If they do that, then I’ll be mostly okay with this season. If they choke it away on Senior Night at home, then it will feel like Archie-ball all over again.
  5. Ugh, that was so bad. One of the worst letdowns I’ve seen for IU.
  6. Was my wife’s birthday last night, so we were out at dinner, but I taped the game AND am actually going to be able to watch it tonight. Haven’t read anything in depth about it, but sounds like it was a wild one. Always less stressful when you know the outcome though!
  7. Season two of Euphoria ended last night. This is an extremely well done and well filmed show. The subject matter can be tough, especially if you have teens or pre-teens at home, but man it’s a wild ride. The acting is incredible, but it’s production values and filming really put it into the next level.
  8. Russia may very well turn this thing around, but it’s looking like Vlad miscalculated. Blowhard tyrants often do.
  9. It does not seem to be going well for the Russians. And the people of Ukraine are winning over the rest of the world.
  10. I’m not surprised there are older people like that, but I mostly know younger Russians. If I asked randoms on the street here in Brighton Beach, I’m sure a lot of them would be pro-Russia/Putin. They tend to be older and more conservative.
  11. Met my wife for dinner in Manhattan early this evening, and after, as we were walking back to the sub, noticed that the Empire State Building was lit up with Ukraine colors.
  12. Saw Crue on Shout at the Devil and Theater of Pain. I think it was the latter that had the insane revolving/upside down drumset for Tommy Lee.
  13. Saw this on Twitter a bit ago. Incredible bravery in the face of overwhelming odds.
  14. Love that you used War Pigs and Born in the USA. Always cracks me up when certain politicians use Born in the USA at their rallies, and I’m thinking “I don’t think this song means what you think it means.” CCR‘S “Fortunate Son” is another one. Like, “Dude, have you listened to these lyrics?” I keep waiting for confirmation of this, b/c it would be huge.
  15. Sorry to hear that. She shouldn’t have to deal with a**holes, but they seem to be everywhere these days.
  16. Am glad you said this. Russians can’t help that their leader is a complete dirtbag. It’s not like they can actually vote him out of office. They just have to wait for him to die or be taken out of his misery. And I have a new employee (twenty-something Asian girl just out of college) who just moved to the city. We started talking about neighborhoods and safety, and it was truly heartbreaking to hear her share her fears. What a world we live in.
  17. The Russians I know do not support this. They are just as horrified as the rest of us - maybe more.
  18. Evans will always be one of my favorite Hoosiers.
  19. People just can’t help themselves in these threads. Let’s blame this on Obama and - checks notes - Greta. Bombs raining down on Ukranian citizens as we type, but sure why not get your ignorant shots in before the thread is closed.
  20. Chilling indeed. Dude is a madman. Saw on Twitter that Mo Creek is still in Ukraine.
  21. I’ve taped the last four games, b/c we were busy or out, but I haven’t watched them after seeing the score. Would like to actually watch and enjoy an IU game again. Tonight does feel like a must win. Hope they realize that.
  22. Bad, dark day for the Ukranian people. Putin has been tryin g to sell this to his people, but I don’t think they are buying it. I hope he ends up regretting this, but it’s hard to tell where everything goes from here. I mean, we know what history says, but the world is so complex now.
  23. Ha, yes another 1.5 or 2 miles with the pacing during the game. It all adds up! Steps are definitely the key and consistency helps. I noticed once we started WFH that I gained a little bit of weight, since I wasn’t walking as much to the sub here and at work. Losing that automatic 45 minutes of walking M-F was a big loss to my fitness.
  24. Exactly, just steps alone can be huge. We went into Manhattan today via the sub. Had breakfast, walked to a bookstore, then did some shopping. Got home and decided to have some drinks on the terrace - it’s 54 here today! Checked my watch and it said 5.17 miles of walking and 11 flights of stairs.
