  1. We are even seeing a relaxation at places here too, NEVER thought I would see the day.
  2. Literal dream to me. Hate getting all dressed up for dinners. I have to wear that crap to work, don’t want to get dressed up for dinner. Something about beach/island life that really sets you up in a good mood. Glad you guys are living it up! Not sure I’ve ever stayed in a place that beautiful and I’ve stayed in a lot of killer places!
  3. Duude, I could stay there for 14 extra days if I had to! I do remember that feeling though when we were getting tested before leaving from Italy. We didn’t want to have to pony up for another 14 days of lodgings. And our places were all awesome, but not THAT awesome!
  4. Yeah, I know that things were going downhill for a lot of people before the virus, but the fallout from this will be wide-ranging for years if not decades. I have several people in their early 20s working for me and they often report a lot of anxiety and depression about the future and how things are right now. I think young people today are going to have a HARD time of it in the latter half of this century.
  5. Man, I am much quicker to sentimentality as I get older too. And this story is really cool. I’ve followed Jamal on Twitter since they started doing this a few years ago. Was super sad when Wanda’s husband died - think that was shortly before last Thanksgiving.
  6. Overdose deaths reach record high during pandemic Ready for this crap to be behind us, but also understanding that we will probably see another big spike in the next couple of months.
  7. I haven’t, but the more eyes on this the better.
  8. The crushing of the spirit piece is what I was alluding to about “back in the day wins,” but you said it much better. People hated coming to IU to play and when they stepped ont he floor, we usually made them pay. Also, this does seem to be a team that really wants to see each other succeed.
  9. LOVED having Fisch calling the game while I was watching it. But the drunk uncle running the video camera needs to be relieved of his duties. That beatdown felt a lot like the early season beatdowns of long ago. 100% worth the $10 to watch. As much as I loved watching the starters romp, I think I enjoyed watching the bench the most at the end.
  10. That’s one of the key questions. Why is it that some people are struggling with ongoing symptoms and others aren’t fazed at all? Can we predict which type of patients might struggle long term? And if so, are there effective treatments for them? Lots more questions than answers at this point, but the more data we can get the better. Glad that you have recovered quickly though! Wonder about what? Vaccinated people can still get COVID, they are just more protected against hospitalization and death. My wife and I and most everyone we know have managed to get through this so far w/o getting COVID. And we live in an incredibly dense city, ride the subways and buses, etc. But, I’ve never told myself that the vaccine is a magic bullet for me not getting infected. I go about my life, but I’m also careful. Mask on indoors for shopping, subway, etc. and mostly dine outdoors with some indoor meals in the last few months.
  11. He was one of the dominant voices of my childhood, no joke. Grew up listening to him with my grandparents and then continued to listen as I got older.
  12. I’m a sucker too. Will just cancel the day after. Don’t want to pay $10, but I don’t want to miss the game more.
  13. Yep, you and I rarely (if ever) agree in this thread, but your last sentence nails it. Beyond long-covid symptoms/issues there is the ancillary fallout from increased depression, drug use. Not to mention the way the disease has hardened/increased the political divide in our country. It’s a F^$king mess. I’m fine with the new normal for now, b/c I know it’s necessary, but I would prefer for this to be over this time next year. It won’t be, but I would prefer it.
  14. It really has become a life-changing pandemic. I’m getting so many emails from people from everywhere in the US about long-COVID. I’m the contact person for my boss who is one of the PIs on the big NIH long covid study, so people trying to reach my boss reach out to me. People are desperate to get the word out about their lingering, and often debilitating, health issues after recovering from COVID. We have a friend who is a doctor and was one of the first in the region to get COVID. She is still not back to work full time. Her life has changed so drastically.
  15. Xavier saved that game with his end to end bucket towards the end. Not what I was expecting, but I’ll take it.
  16. Nope, that would suck. They need to close this out with authority.
  17. That pass from Race to TJD for the slam. Jeez…
  18. Shooter, we haven’t needed a cardiologist in so long - b/c we have sucked so much.
  19. I’ll take a Kyle Hornsby type on this team for sure.
  20. Kopp and one before the half was nice. I was wondering if he was going to do something.
  21. Enjoying this team a lot more than last couple of seasons. Race looks much improved. Thought Xavier struggled in the beginning, and was pleased to see him sit for a bit before coming back in. Tamar is the real deal.
  22. I went ahead and got Sling for my Roku, so ready for the game tonight! Time is crawling though, am thankful for a 6pm tipoff for sure.
  23. That’s pretty impressive numbers. Would be a huge development.
  24. Man, that’s horrible. I remember the WKRP episode about that concert.
  25. Was just reading about this. Brutal and unnecessary, but honestly surprised it doesn’t happen more often. It should never happen, but crowds sometimes act in ways they shouldn’t and it’s hard to reverse.
