  1. I hear beer sales were beyond expectations this past season 🍻
  2. I can’t argue with that. What was his draft stock looking like? Maybe he is being told a second year of putting up the same stats shows more consistency and increases his draft stock to a level that’s worth coming back? Also maybe with NIL it makes sense for him.
  3. You can’t keep someone at IU if they don’t want to be here. He could have played more in 2021 but “injury” kept him off the field. I don’t blame him in the sense that the Oline over the last few years wasn’t gonna help keep him injury free. I would say he made the right choice for himself based on the results.
  4. Agreed, of all the transfers this should be the least surprising.
  5. It’s not gonna stop from what I was told. We should not underestimate how much Allen and the staff lost a good chunk of the players this year. Keeping Bell around isn’t gonna help the situation. But even with him staying there are a lot of players that frankly don’t trust CTA anymore. Honestly, maybe that’s the best for Allen over the next couple years. Bring in transfers that haven’t lost faith in him as a coach and as a person.
  6. Agreed but the thing is it never would be. The only way he gets bought out is donors. Donors pay his contract and donors would have to buy it out and then pay the next coach. The smallest of portion is actually paid by the university directly and I believe the donor would pay for that as well long term on a buyout.
  7. As a Kelley grad I would love to see a true cost benefit analysis of how bad keeping Allen around could hurt this program. Take his salary and review the cost to buy him out vs the cost to keeping him (transfers, stalled recruiting, impact on attendance, etc…). Is CTA leaving at this point, no. But I would have preferred a true review of if keeping more detrimental in the long run. The BIG is about to bring in the most money of any conference, two more high caliber teams about to join. This is a critical time for IU football to get it right, not sink into depths below mediocrity.
  8. Not sure I understand why this matters. Lots of things are hidden in particular when it comes to athletics. The contracts no, but who donates to help pay for them and buyouts, that’s not easy to find.
  9. I’ll just say people should really stop considering IU a public university. Donors pay the salaries and buyouts, not IU. Plus the university barely gets any funding from the state nowadays. It may be on state land and started as fully state funded but state funded universities don’t exist anymore.
  10. Real question, and I openly admit am no football coach: Did the line get better or did it look better because we had a mobile qb until he got hurt? It would be nice to know what some of you are seeing can be aligned with coaching and not a change in offense with the QB change.
  11. Fair but at this point even with potential injuries and I am a big fan of competition breading success
  12. Hard time seeing him play next year and scarily maybe ever again. This team is gonna need a lot of new bodies and QB and Oline clearly priority 1
  13. I think it’s pretty clear the team was behind Tuttle. From what I have heard CB did a few things that I would not consider as supporting the team. I just would like to get a few more data points to back up what I was told. But in the end anything he did if true I put back on the coaching staff for allowing him to do so.
  14. I would love to know what the current players think of him. In particular how they felt he acted both in getting the starting job and when he got benched.
  15. This article has a lot of truth to it. It’s always interesting to see what gets out and what does not. If Allen wants to be successful he needs to fire Bell asap and try to find lightning in a bottle again on offense like he did with DeBoer. Can’t change the past but the most important note here is CTA has lost most of this team. He seems to continue to have blind faith in the wrong people. It’s still shocking to me how he allowed Tuttle to be treated. I said some of the stuff in here months ago, there was a reason Tuttle was voted captain by the team. Yet I sadly find myself realizing that wouldn’t have changed much with Hiller still around. Just a matter of time before all these QBs got hurt, it was just as glaring a problem in 2021.
  16. So is this moving to Dexter, MSU is bad to start things off, change to offensive scheme, or a mix of it all? I think a lot of us felt with this bad Oline dexter made the most sense, why did it take the coaches this long.
  17. I don’t disagree. To me all the more reason to start him the rest of the year and see what you got. Get him time now and build toward next season. Tuttle isn’t coming back and CB isn’t the answer.
  18. Agreed, those bubble screens I never want to see again.
  19. At least these coaches finally realized QB is an issue. There are a lot more issues but Connor has not been cutting it. Jack last week had solid stats and now Dexter.
  20. I told my wife I have no idea why Williams is not starting. Put him in and boom
  21. Usually you have to pay double for that kind of action Cotton
  22. I think Deboer has just as much to do with it. Man he can get the most out of his offense with Penix that’s for sure.
  23. I would say the opposite, Jack wants to be here but wants to go where the coaches will give him a chance. This young man knew the risk and went out there and did a heck of a job before that terrible Oline got him hurt. The players voted him captain for a reason, the issue isn’t the player.
