They were talking about this on 1380 AM "The Fan" out of the Fort. Apparently 1380 used to to be affiliated with ESPN but they are now hitched to Fox. The guys said it was due to ESPN messing around with all their radio shows through the years.
1380 flipped from ESPN to Fox 2-3 years ago because of politics. According to both the Arbitron and Eastlan ratings, their listenership has dropped significantly since the switch, so I guess it didn't work out as they hoped.

Trying to get orientated to the direction this thread has turned.

What is so cool about them
I don't know, but I can tell you that a lot of kids in NE Indiana who play basketball at a high level love Michigan. It makes no sense to me, but that's the way it is.

Word is he has committed to Notre Dame

I think they should reach out to Dakich.

I personally think the narrative about avoiding taking in a player with multiple years left is a bit extreme. I would agree with that narrative if the player in question is a low 3 star 2023 recruit or a below average portal player. But if you’ve got a true impact portal player or one of these recent 4 star 2023 recruits I say we give it a shot.
We’re worried about not having enough spots for some of the 2024 studs that we’re recruiting, but the reality is we will not land all of these guys. Also, we can expect a handful of players to leave every year (portal, NBA, etc) given the new landscape of college basketball. There is much more flexibility in constructing a roster than ever before, and I think we should take advantage of it rather than handicapping ourselves.
100% agree. Get the best guys we can get, for exactly the reasons you stated, and if guys from the 2024 class really want to come here and are worried about not having a spot, maybe it's time for them to think about committing.

What was the UK coach yapping about?
I’m guessing it was that we hit 6 of their batters in the game.

Btw... WVU is/was easily considered a Top 20-25 team this season.
They're RPI T25 as well. WVU was in the mix to host all the way until the last weekend of the year.
I wasn't expecting a win, and certainly wasn't expecting 12 runs against their very good pitching.

My final regular-season computer ratings. For this week, I thought I'd just post the rankings of teams that made the tournament:
1 Wake Forest 2 LSU 3 Virginia 4 Kentucky 5 Alabama 6 Vanderbilt 7 Florida 8 Clemson 9 South Carolina 10 Tennessee 11 Arkansas 12 Duke 13 Oklahoma St 14 Oregon St 15 West Virginia 16 Campbell 17 Miami FL 18 Stanford 19 North Carolina 20 Iowa 22 Arizona 23 NC State 24 TCU 25 Texas 27 Indiana St 28 Dallas Bap 30 Texas Tech 31 Auburn 32 Coastal Car 33 Oregon 34 Texas A&M 35 Washington 36 East Carolina 38 Boston College 39 Maryland 41 Northeastern 43 Connecticut 44 Indiana 45 Oral Roberts 47 Southern Miss 51 Xavier 53 Santa Clara 54 Sam Houston St 60 CS Fullerton 63 Oklahoma 65 Louisiana 68 Charlotte 77 UNC Wilmington 79 Troy 88 Penn 93 Lipscomb 97 Army 100 Wright St 101 San Jose St 103 Samford 104 Ball St 127 Rider 140 Nicholls St 144 E Illinois 159 Tulane 173 Maine 198 George Mason 210 Central Conn 245 Florida A&M -
Have not updated these for a couple weeks, but with the poll discussion above and the end of the regular season here, I thought I would post an update. Again these computer rankings are similar in formula to the NET or Pomeroy in basketball, so much more predictive than the RPI. Will try to post again before the NCAA Tournament.

Fort Wayne was rated the #2 minor league market last year and has been in the top 10 in 8 of the 9 years of the rankings. The Komets are the second oldest minor league hockey team in existence. The Tin Caps, high A farm team of the Padres— Tatis started his pro career here- have annually won the designation of having the best minor league stadium in the country. The Mad Ants are the new team on the block, having been in existence since 2007. They have split some of their home games with other cities to generate statewide support for the team. An old high school buddy has been their play-by-play guy since the outset. I don’t know if he’ll want to make the drive down for games or not. Ft Wayne just hosted the Division III National Basketball Championship for the second straight year. They have hosted games in the Women’s tournament. They have hosted games in the NCAA Volleyball tournament. They have a huge basketball facility that hosts multiple AAU tournaments every year, just finished one this weekend that Flory Bidunga’s team won the U-17 bracket. The city has an awesome youth hockey program and holds tournaments hosting teams from all over the country. We have hosted professional golf tournaments in the feeder league levels. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the FW Curling Club. We host competitions every year drawing teams from throughout the US and Canada. Every member of the Gold Medal winning Men’s team from Sochi have competed at our club. Kory Dropkin, who just won the World Mixed Doubles Championship has curled at our club several times. We have hosted the Women’s Olympic teams from China and Scotland.
I’d say FW is very entrenched in the world of sports!
Steubenhoosier, you should work on Fort Wayne's Chamber of Commerce. 🙂 I have lived in Fort Wayne my entire life. Been to many, many Mad Ants games. The G-League overall doesn't draw a lot of fans. Honestly, it is not a great on-the-floor product. Very sloppy, selfish play at times with guys just trying to showcase their individual talents at the expense of team success. That being said, Fort Wayne supported its team as well as any city in the league.

Here are my computer ratings through yesterday's games. Another new #1 national team (also will note that South Carolina was #1 for a few days in updates from last Monday to this Monday). So, perhaps there is no really dominant national team this year?? Indiana continues to trend upward.

Saw that someone had claimed, perhaps on Twitter, that James was on the sideline dressed in street clothes for the spring game/scrimmage. So perhaps this is true.
