Could you actually see the kicker/punter/holder when looking between your legs?

Yeah. It was kind of like learning to pass upside down. Had to learn how to get the ball to spiral.

Did alot of practice just aiming for a square on the outside wall of the locker room.

Is Charlestown football back?  Do they/didn't they have a highly ranked line man? They haven't been really good since what, 1999?

The 5 star lineman they had last year graduated.  On the surface, it would appear that Charlestown already beat two of the top teams in conference.  But, while I can't speak for Brownstown, Silver Creek is not going to be good this year.  The signs have been there as these classes moved up through middle school and JV.

Hatchets play at Logansport today.

Latest I heard is the head Varsity coach has taken over the feeder programs and is putting in his system from the ground level. Numbers seems to be good. Supposed to have a pretty good class coming up.  Can't remember if they are 8th or 9th grade this year. Hoping for improvement in the next few years. Washington has never really had a good foundation at the lower levels.

How long of a drive is that?

Is there a back story?  Like brothers coach at each school or something?

I've done all three. None of them are easy in the least bit. And we're on our 2nd string kicker right now.

In the time I've paid enough attention to notice, so since about 1999, Washington has had probably 1 legit punter and 1 really good kickoff/fg specialist.

2nd string kicker?  Hell, in my day even having a kicker was rare.

Exactly. And we don't play have soccer... so sometimes we are scrounging.

Last season, Silver Creek's kickoff specialist was from the boy's soccer team.  The FG kicker was from the girl's soccer team.  He graduated, so this season she's doing both.  She does a dang good job on extra points, but she's not been given too many field goal chances.

Because the snap, hold, and kick is darn difficult in HS lol

Plus shitty grass fields in HS. Ughh

My old ball coach, before our 1st practice of the year, would always ask the whole team if anyone was willing to "try" kicking this year.

I doubt very many practice as a complete unit. When I played our kickers practiced on their own just dropping the ball to themselves for punts or using a mechanical holder for ep/fg. I had to practice snapping on my own time.
