We had a tornado touch down a mile from our home this evening.  Thankfully we have no damage. I was one of those idiots who stands out in the driveway trying to see it. The most dangerous storm I faced though as Mrs. Keet yelling at me over the phone from the basement to get inside.

I would be that idiot, too. It's on my bucket list to see a tornado in person. Preferably far from my house though, or anyone's really. I don't wish that devastation on anyone.

When the blinds were slapping uncontrollably against the window as the F2 passed by 200’ away I just rolled over and said to myself if it’s time it’s time?

Guess I'll throw it in here. Was on the phone with a client just outside of NYC about 15 minutes ago and apparently they had an earthquake near NYC?

As Maedhros posted, 4.8 in NJ. My daughter lives in Midtown Manhattan and I can confirm she definitely felt it! Said her entire building was shaking violently. Thankfully she was working from home today so didn’t have to deal with subway or trying to get home. Her office building, in the finance district, was evacuated. I told her to watch out for any water issues and stuff because the infrastructure of a lot of NYC is awful, and it wouldn’t surprise me if a couple old pipes shifted. Otherwise she’s good! Just glad she wasn’t on a subway when it happened!!

A) Glad she’s alright

B) I hope she’s able to defend her home against all the giant mutant rats that were awoken and released.

I'm hearing a lot about all this rain in TX. 20 inches, massive flooding, etc. Where's our Jim Cantore on the ground report @IUFLA? Have you started building an ark?

I put it over in The Derby thread...like a good HSN poster 🙂

Unreal....and we had an all timer here in Indy in the month of April with just under 8 inches for the month.

Crap down in Georgia I remember us getting 9” starting Friday into Sunday. Needless to say the waterfalls nearby were quite an experience!

This tornado went pretty much right over my house before touching down less than a half mile further down the road.  Not hearing about any significant damage.

Edit.  Not my video if you are wondering.  The Fouls family was hunkered down in basement.

Glad you are okay. We had a warning in our area, but nothing happened that I know of. Sounds like we are in for round two tonight.

Anyone catch the light show last night? Seeing an Aurora is on my bucket list. Didn't think it would make it this far south, but then I saw pictures from St Louis and South Carolina. I'm going out tonight to see what's still there.

Here's the NOAA map for tonight...

I saw it in all of its glory when I was stationed in Greenland in 87-88. I was moonlighting driving a taxi (Volkswagen Vanawagon) for the NCO Club and had it full of Danes and Greenlandics with their alcohol low level lights flickering...saw it as I passed the end of the runway, stopped the cab, and got out to take it in...didn't make my fares very happy...they'd seen it hundreds of times...but shuttling them to a place where they could get antifreeze in -20 degree weather, they still tipped well 🙂

Honestly I didn't even know it was a possibility. Friend got some beautiful pictures from Lake Monroe. I'm keeping the eyes open tonight for sure. If understand the timeline it starts around 10 I believe.
