IU has 122 years of history and is .634 during that time, so set the expectations where you may.

I did a little digging around on the website you linked and found some pretty interesting stuff. Not sure how this website calculates it’s ratings or how credible it is, but thought it was worth the share.

Not surprisingly, their ratings have us as the best defensively, but we do have the 4th best net rating. Interesting to see OSU, MSU, and Wisconsin below us.

Also, I know several people on here were criticizing TJD for how offense last night. Personally, I agree to some extent with those complaints. However,I don’t think he (and Race) get enough praise for their defensive work… it kinda goes unnoticed.
I don’t want to make this post too long, so I’ll only add a bit more. TJD leads the conference in several defensive categories: blocks, blocks/game, block percentage, defensive rating, and defensive win shares. Who’s second in those last two categories? His running mate Race.966A4F2F-1D17-4774-AC8F-EF022C5432BA.jpeg.2d42174b42f58051eba96ade358fc992.jpeg4AEDD398-3173-480E-BC7A-F748F3D57F3A.jpeg.b9ffc79de60df467e54105a1593468ab.jpeg

I like Kopp.  Nice kid.  Plays hard.  And played hard last night when called upon.  Should he start, No, But i also don't think we run our offense enough to get him tons of looks.  We're always looking for TJD and then from there.  I am also weary of starting Galloway though.  Smart kid who plays hard but is still very raw.  Plays out of control at times.  Stupid fouls and trying to go 100 all the time.  There are times for the 100 and there are times to slow it down and find the right thing, that takes time to develop.  But Galloway need more minutes, maybe just not starting.  I would sit P Stewart and give him about 5 minutes a game going forward and give those to Galloway

I agree with most of this. I wish Kopp would contribute more but I feel the same way about him as you. At this point, I think Galloway has earned the start considering Stewart’s performance and “extracurriculars”. I know Woodson seems pretty set on his starting 5, but after last night I’m hoping we see a permanent change.

Just caught wind of that on twitter but didn't really read more since our game was at the same time. Tough to have that hit when you're trying to get an NCAA bid. Any news on how long those guys are out?

No official news yet. They obviously won’t give details on what happened and during the post game Woodson mentioned having to make a decision on the way home about what he was going to do.

Kind of telling that Duncomb couldn't see the floor tonight.  If he can't play tonight it shows he is not developing very fast.

Well part of that is because of who he is behind at his position. We don’t want 4 post players on the court at the same time. But yes you’re correct it doesn’t seem that he has developed as quickly as some of us would have liked.

In the end, it very possibly costs us a NCAA bid.  It's not that we lost.  It's WHY we lost that is cause for concern.

That’s understandable, but I don’t that’s likely. I could be wrong, but at this point I’m not worried about that.

I will miss the nameless jersey's, but I want to win in all legal ways.

Besides, imagine if we could have bought a Calbert Cheaney in early '90s. That would be AWESOME... in fact I would not mind having a Chaney, a Watford, and a Yogi jersey. (Jury is still out on a TJD jersey)

It would make IU and the players a lot of money - there is no way this is not happening long term.

Maybe a solution would be selling jerseys with names on the back and keeping the in game jersey without names on the back?

Didn't watch the Illinois game, but am curious...does Cockburn draw more double teams than TJD?

We didn’t really double a whole lot… but part of that was due to their ability to really space the floor with shooters. I could be wrong but it felt like a lot of their 3’s at the end of the game came from kick outs from the post when we started to get desperate and more aggressive for steals.

  8. I’m pretty sure this has been mentioned previously, but I think it would have been hard for him to live up to expectations had he came to IU. I mean most IU fans have unrealistic hopes/expectations.. could you imagine what those expectations would have been like if a coach with Stevens’ reputation became coach? I certainly wouldn’t want to be in that position if I were him.

  9. This will be a close game, win or lose. I’d be shocked if it were a blowout either way. Looking at their conference games, the only double digit differences have been a loss @ Purdue and a win @ Nebraska. Don’t let their record fool you, this is a decent team.

  10. I’d like to see TJD be more of a passer/playmaker out of the post. He’s got a good drive when he faces up from the short corner/wing. But when he’s going up against the Cockburns and Edey’s of the B1G he has to realize he’s not going to be able to bully them down all the way to the block. Instead, he settles for 8ft fading/leaning hooks that are really tough shots to make. If he can’t get lower in the post I’d like to see him pass it out and look for a better shot. In fact, that may be a key in getting Stewart and Kopp more shots.

It doesn't take a genius to look at that and realize it's faulty.  Apparently, no one in the NCAA appears to understand or care.

Honestly it probably has to do more with admitting they’re wrong and that NET isn’t any good than anything else. Knowing the NCAA, they’ll probably be too stubborn to make a change to it for the foreseeable future.

I did not watch most of the Nebraska game, but some may have been our 3 point defense at the start of the game.

Our 3 point service was particularly kind to their shooters:

"Welcome 3-point shooter. You are valued here at Assembly Hall. As requested, we found a wide open shooting location where you should not have disturbances during your shot. Let us know when you have finished so that we can pick up the ball to inbound it..."

Yep, can’t really complain about them shooting as well as they did when about 3/4 of their attempts were wide open.

  13. Personally, I think the only true rivalry we have within the conference is Purdue. I think “rivalries” need to have some sort of fan-driven aspect. Outside of Purdue, what schools would our fans not get along with? That’s how I look at it. To consider something a rivalry it has to go beyond just how good the teams are.

The good thing is that PF is typically associated with runners and Indiana has a great XC and Track program. I would imagine PTs from those specialties would be helping as well.

Yeah no doubt he is in good hands. I just hope he can recover and play a role heading into the end of the season

I think you are 1000% spot on. I think as our team gets better Woody schedules better. I’m sure the non conference had to be close to 70-80% done when he took the job.

I specifically remember CMW getting a little upset about a question(s) on the schedule early on in the season and him basically saying he’s not in charge of the schedule and he just plays who is in front of him. That being said I’m sure he’ll have more of a say in future schedules now that he is here and established.
