I sure hope you're right. The few times I saw him play, he made cuts at the speed of molasses. I can cut faster than I saw him cut, and I'm an old fart. Hopefully that was a small sample size and not representative of his overall play, but I didn't see him being anywhere close to JHS talent.
His Dad is a helluva coach IMO. If we have an ass't job open up, he should at least get a look.
They are so very different but both are winners. GC not flashy but gets the job done. Like Braden more athletic than people think. I hate saying comments like that because people put race into the equation and that's not my point. He just finds a way, like most freshman if he can defend he will get significant minutes. 4 years of Cupps and he will be a fan favorite. I will be shocked if not.

I followed IU football because I had a friend who's dad had season tickets. If not for that then I probably wouldn't have. I listened to almost everything on the radio, IUBB, IUFB, pacers and colts. Other than that it was Sundays sports pages. My dad had cable so I got to watch a little more when I was at his house. Trading cards was another way to keep up.
I grew up in the country so cable wasn't an option. I think we got satellite in 1999. I think people who didn't grow up rural or broke don't realize how little options there were.
Sports broadcasting as we know it today is probably only about 10-15yrs old.
I did not become Colts fan until I went to IU. Grew up watching the Cowboys and Bengals and Jim Harbaugh made me a Colts fan

If that’s the case, no reason why Cupps can’t be an immediate impact guy. Don’t have to be a 5 star kid to make an impact.
He may not get 10 a game but will be an impact player from day 1 IMO. There is a lot that goes into getting minutes as a freshman but he has the tools the rest is on him

How many IU games were televised back when most people only had 3 channels? Notre Dame was on TV every Saturday.
They were replayed on Sundays as well. I grew up in a time when there was little to no NBA basketball on TV, I watched IU basketball, ND football, The Cowboys and the Reds. That was about it. I don't think I realized IU had a football team until I was in high school and deciding where I wanted to go to school

Yeah it's not ideal. All depends on who we land. I like.our guards coming in but they probably wont make a huge impact immediately, and we definitely will need more frontcourt help.
I was one of the biggest proponents for Braden Smith I really wanted him in an IU uniform. That did not happen but having seen he and Cupps play a bunch I think Cupps is on just another level than Braden and that is in no way a knock on Braden. Cupps is going to surprise many. Kid is a legit winner and big time play maker.

These are games we have to win if we want to finish at the top of the B1G. Iowa is a good team but we can’t just win our home games…have to beat good teams on the road.
This is a must win road game at a place that we have struggled, well that the case with all Big road games but we need a win.

Mine is the exact same. I was raised with IUBB and NDFB as mainstays in our house. I was a Bears fan until the Mayflower trucks arrived, Though I am a bit pissy with the Colts the last couple years.
We can wear our matching reversible jackets, that all these young uns just don't understand

I think where people disagree with you is that we don't think the overall roster is good compared to you thinking it is good.
I agree the roster is good enough to keep you in most games. Not good enough to blow anyone out. That's why there is no margin for error. The top teams can overcome the things that have the caused the Colts to have the record they do.
This year the Vikings have won 10 1 score games, they are good in many offensive positions but the defense is why those games are close. The Colts lack studs at positions that you need to win consistently.

Pacers with another big road win at Miami 111-108. Hailiburton with 43 point on 10/16 3's and the game winner with 2.6 seconds to go.
Wonder if Wally is rethinking his douche bag comments

Very cool gesture. I know people will get into the NIL stuff. How about this. Kid knows he has extra and is being nice at Christmas time...and from what I keep hearing this kid just works and works and works.....Hoosier personified.
Lot of adults could learn from tjis young man. To whom much is given much is required

Saw a post on another board where Sisley had 36 points, 19 rebounds and 9 blocks in a double overtime win tonight.
Here is that stat line
36p; 23r; 4a; 2s; 9b; 5t. 5 of his reb. were off the offensive board. 12-24 FG; 2-4 on 3s; 10-14 FT.
Thru 5 games: 28.0 ppg; 12.4 rpg; 3.8 asst; 2.0 stl; 3.2 blks. 60% FG; 43% on 3s; 81% FT.
24 games in the '21-'22 season: 19.9 ppg; 9.2 rpg; 1.6 asst; 1.2 stl; 1.3 blk. 57% FG; 40% on 3s; 76% FT
Kid is special and really likes some of the things In the IU program. Still very early but it's nice to be out in front before the Big Dogs come sniffing around Santa Claus

Yeah, we were cheering for Messi too. Just for the history at stake. I hated how they were hinging greatest ever on one game.
Mbappe though is just insane. Late in the game he almost took four dudes. I might have to start tuning in to him and Messi on the same pro team. Insane.
It was impressive. We do not watch soccer but about 4 years ago Ayden starting watching Messi with Barcelona and we went to University of Michigan just to watch them play. Pretty cool experience

Houston with a nice bounce back win. Winning convincingly on the road at UVA. That’s what great teams do….very tough minded team. Well coached.
My early season pick to win it all is Houston. I have not had the opportunity to see UCONN play yet

That last 45 minutes was incredible. Ayden is a huge Messi fan so it was fun to have a rooting interest.

Well.. do you think CAM is equivalent to CMW?
Of course not but neither one of them are on the court. I just see some of those same things that plagued the program under CAM
I am most disappointed in the defense against good teams. I do believe this team can turn it around but I was fully bought in this team was FF caliber I am wavering on that at this time

When our overall talent improves and we continue to develop our system, along with our roster make up.
1.25 years into CMW.
We heard that for 4 years with CAM. I just do not see the same issues with some other programs that have plagued us for the majority of the last 20 years.

The data is slim, but this team did improve during the year last season and was playing at its peak at the end of the year.
I agree but are we good enough to be a top 5 seed or playing in Dayton again? The road will not be easy and I am not convinced we win every home game. When do we start winning the games that we are not supposed to.

The calendar said it was December of 2001. Fresh off losses to Marquette, Southern Illinois, Miami, Kentucky, and Butler everyone on Peegs said cancel the season. Total loss. Sure glad the boards don't dictate a season.
If these things were happening in early March gang I get it but let's some development go on. Kind of like last year. Nobody was playing better in our conference at BTT. Just let it ride itself out. Not saying some along the way micro discussion isn't warranted but big picture....3 months of hoops/development is a long time.
Big difference IMO because we have seen this movie for the past several years. I am just pulling for a different ending

Pittman is #2 in that group.
Only to you and him. 2 of those guys showed how to ball out and one can't get open Pittman and Thielan made plays when he had to. Pittman is at best a number 2 on a good team. Just how it is, and I like the guy but don't let my blinders get in the way

Without a proven QB, I don't think the Candidate pool will be real strong. Maybe not a bad thing. I think we get the D coordinator from SF, but that's just a guess. I don't want a retread that has not won big. If not a big name a top level asst is fine with me.
