I think they said Leach had a heart issue.  Someone said heart attack.  Either way, devastating.  My MIL just got moved yesterday into an intensive rehab.  She's had a rough road, starting with an aneurism and then a stroke during brain surgery to remove an arterial malformation.  She's walking with assistance, brushing her teeth.  Talking ok, can still read.  Definitely praying for those hurting.

Keeping her and your family in prayers.

If Goff is a hit... Cousins and Carr are fine QBs. I understand that wasn't the point you were trying to make, though.

And to answer your question, I am not sure.

I just think you can get you guy if you  really want to other than a top 5 pick or reaching. I had to stretch to get to Goff,  maybe Lawrence some day

DEs get me just as excited. I don't think J Chase is in this draft. I mean rushing the QB is still the name of the game defensively.

J Chase is probably my favorite player not on the Colts. Or at least WAY up there. I told everyone, literally as that LSU run was happening.... Burrow isn't the prize on this team. Those two WRs are.

Some of my favorite football memories as an adult was watching Mathis and Freney pin their ears back and just get after the QB once the offense gave them a lead. That was a thing on beauty.

Only one position on a football team can totally change the culture of that team.  Free agents make decisions they otherwise would not if they believe in the QB.

Does Von Miller sign with the Bills if Josh Allen is not QB?  Why, all of a sudden, with Joe Burrow,  are players interested in the Bengals after a 40 year stretch of Cincy being the last place a player would consider.

If the Colts have the opportunity to draft one of the top 3 QBs in the draft, they have to absolutely take it. Sure, it could be a miss, but it could be Patrick Mahomes.  Mahomes may ultimately only win the 1 SB, but he will have made the Chiefs relavent for 15 years, much the same Manning did with the Colts.

Or, they could continue to kick the can hoping a 3rd or 4th rounder can turn into a game manager capable of winning it all the one year the planets perfectly align.

I am not saying a 3rd or 4th rounder and I do agree with the statement about free agents. Do you think guys are going to Minnesota to play with Cousins, I don't but Cousins with a Jefferson and Cook and Thielan well now thats another story.  I just don't think you need a Mahomes to win a SB and I think many players were Made by Manning etc.. but many QB's were made by great WR's also. In this NFL you have no chance without a dynamic WR. Look at the guys Mahommes and Allen get to throw to.

And it won't let me go back a page and quote your long paragraph about the Colts.

We made a mistake letting go of Wentz. It never made sense at the time, and it doesn't now. One of the few times I have been very frustrated with Irsay.

Pittman looked a lot better with Wentz under center as well and the buying of time allowed him to come open across the middle so much more.

  6. Over the past year I have changed my thinking on what it takes to be successful in the NFL as a team. I am no longer convinced that you need a top pick QB to win. I have seen more misses than hits at the top of the draft. I think you need to use your first pick to get the best WR in the draft. Every team in the hunt for the playoffs except for Baltimore and Tennessee have stud #1 WR or more. I got into lots of arguments last year about where Pittman should be ranked and I still say he is not a #1 on a playoff team. I cannot think of 1 team that has a shot at winning the SB that he would be their #1.  The Eagles have Brown and Smith and now all of a sudden Jalen is an MVP candidate. Tua gets Waddle and Hill and he is near the top in passing stats and has the Dolphins right there. Those 2 QB's would not be successful with the talent the Colts have on offense. For 3 years I have been screaming for play makers and Pierce might get there Paris has flashes, Pittman would be a great #2.  I think you need a more than serviceable QB get him a couple of weapons and give yourself a chance. Lastly as much as people ripped Wentz I think that he covered up just how poor the OL was last year and with a gun shy statue for a QB this year we are seeing it on full display. Wentz covered up a lot of flaws on the offense.

Very sad indeed. I read about this last night. Prayers going out to him and his family.

Very sad. I really like watching him coach. His coaching tree is pretty impressive. Prayers needed does not sound very good. I heard a report that said his family has been called in to spend as much time as possible with him.

Who cares where they are from. I'd love a few international players, they usually have big time experience before they even enter college.

If the staff thinks they can help our team I don't care where they are from. we could recruit the 5 aliens from space jam if that helps Indiana basketball.

I never said self defense. And if the person who made the call wasn't the one allegedly assaulted then anything could have been said.

If the charge is accurate then physical and photo evidence will show it.

I guess my frustration lies in the fact that this is a headline now and in 2020 in a lot of people's minds an arrest is guilty regardless of outcome.

I agree and maybe he walked in on wife with another man and choked her out I don't know but the initial reports do not look favorable for Beard. I wholeheartedly believe in innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately our society convicts in the court of public opinion

Teams aren't identical. Teams have different deficiencies and concerns. I'm assuming you've seen Purdue play? Do you really have concerns about Loyer or Smith making open 3's? I don't.

IU has been a poor shooting team for 5 years. Our guards and wings have struggled mightily historically with making open shots. It's a really valid concern.

I wouldn't be concerned about that with Purdue. With Purdue, my question is how do Loyer and Smith handle things when they face a defense that pressures the ball with long, athletic guards and wings?

I get that every team is different. No I  do not have concerns about Smith or Loyer shooting. My point is that he said our ceiling is sweet 16 but IMO I think sweet 16 is closer to our floor. If we shoot poorly sweet 16 but if we shoot average I think we are a title contender. Hence my comment on him saying we are a pretender. I just dont see it that way in my honest opinion.

Quoting all of you because it's easier, and will say I haven't watched in slow mo so what I'm about to say may make it even more obvious it was a missed call or may make it clear it wasn't.

The rule in question, and that is quoted, would allow the play to be legal if he were back in bounds before the pass left his teammates hand. In that scenario, his teammate was the first one to touch the ball upon him returning and it's legal. @mrflynn03you watched in slo-mo, was he back in bounds before the pass left his teammates hand?

The second issue no one has mentioned, and I'm not sure this is true in college but fairly certain it is in high school, is you can't just "hang out" out of bounds. It's a technical foul to do that. Does anyone know if that rule is also in college?

This play helped establish that rule. Washington Catholic
