  1. Seems like the last few years, when it gets bad at IU, it gets real bad. They can't beat anybody. 2017, 2019, 2021 and this year. Always have key injuries: '24 - X, '21 - Franklin, '19 - Romeo, '17 - OG and Morgan. Not an excuse. Need depth and a system. The difference this year, it is 2/26 and we have been out it for at least two months. Even when Archie was here, we we're at at least on the bubble for most of the year. This year, not so much.
  2. ?? UK had 7 players in the NBA All Star game this year. They last won a championship in 2012. IU hasn't been a consistently good program since the 90s. But Calipari is the poster boy for mediocrity and doing less with more than anyone in the country.
  3. I agree. Bringing in Matta and even Fife (not Woody's guys) indicated it was Woody's job BUT with conditions. Regardless, Dolson has to think about that when setting up the buyout amounts and the extension. He's the AD.
  4. Thank you. I am probably in the minority here, but I think this is a good thing. Although Queen seems like a very good player, him coming here would be more of the style we've been playing and I think everyone would agree, it's not the best offense. Now if Malik transfers, we're in trouble. I would take Queen 9/10 ten, but we need guards not more bigs.
  5. This season has stunk no doubt about it. But they were/are not going to fire Woody after one down season after two seasons of decent improvement. This will be a a key off season, but I swear people really need to focus on other things on day-to-day basis. Coming to a forum every day to over dissect every issue, calling for Woody's head etc has to be exhausting. Like my mom used to say, go outside and play. Go to a friends house. Take a break from the day to day complaining about IUBB. Some people are still bitching about Crean and the Zone. Some of these fans were not even alive when IU was a top program (haven't been since the 90s). I don't think anyone is accepting this season or mediocrity, but college sports is a total different landscape than it use to be. Some teams simply are not going to be very good because of roster turnover or portal issues. Each season is going to be different than the next more so than it used to be. Does that give Woody and excuse? Do I think Woody is the greatest coach? No. But I also don't think he's what a lot of people are saying. I think you just have to ride this season out, hope they win a few here at the end then flush this season down the toilet. That being said, he can't afford another season like this one any time soon.
  6. Our offense would be decent if people could make some open threes and there are a lot of them to be had. You think other BIG programs are running sophisticated offenses? PU's? They throw it to Edey, he makes his stuff or gets a foul called or he throws it out to open guys. Not rocket science. Last year they couldn't make the open three, this year they can. Our offense is not very good because we don't have guards (the healthy ones that is) that can 1. Create their own shot. 2. Shoot. And because both X and Newton are hurt we're playing a FR PG that wasn't projected to be starting or playing big minutes and a two guard who is a three. Not saying Woody doesn't take blame (leaving an open scholarship, overloading at four) but this roster was thin at guard and got thinner when both X and Newton went down basically for the year. Now I am of the opinion that Cupps shouldn't be playing as much as he is regardless of the situation. He'll be a good four year guy but his in over his head both offensively and defensively, but he's fighting and will get better as a result of this.
  7. I actually do because I think he knows he screwed up this season trusting what was already on the roster.
  8. There are "three" issues I have with Woody this season: 1. This^^ Starting the same guys no matter how well they are playing or the matchups (and automatically starting Cupps just because he's the only natural PG behind X, and I do think Cupps will be good). 2. Leaving an open scholarship and overloading the roster with forwards (Sparks and Walker, only needed one) via the portal instead of loading up on shooters/guards. 3. Not pushing the team to play faster and/or playing with smaller lineups. Lots of things have gone wrong (lack of shooting being the most obvious), but I think these are my biggest complaints if I was making a list to send to Woody.
  9. You can't say year 4 looks worse until you see the roster, imo it will probably be better. And "luckily made the tournament"? You are either in or not. So is it "unluckily" not making the tournament when you feel like you should have made it? This season stinks, no doubt about it but let's not starting poking holes in the other seasons just to make this season seem worse than it already is. This season has gone about as bad is it could under the circumstances.
  10. I also had to laugh about the NYK betting ad. That's Twitter these days. Filled with bots and ads in the replies.
  11. They play better when they pick up the pace and get into their offense faster. If you're not a very good shooting team you have to beat/challenge teams with pace which will also get you more open looks. Their bigs can run, they need to start running. This team isn't as bad as their record. Gunn is starting to turn a corner a bit. I would like to see him play more. Woody needs to change things up. If he really wants to be the coach for a couple (or whatever) more years, he needs to make more adjustments earlier in the game. When they cut the lead to one point he should have started pressuring NW and gone with a smaller lineup. When you don't have shooters to bail you out you can't take the entire shot clock to run your offense; puts a lot of pressure on the bigs to make every basket.
  12. What are terrible take. I couldn't agree more. Get lost if that's the way you feel. Everyone is disappointed with this season. Woody will either turn it around or be gone. Not much more complicated than that.
  13. This rumor seems to have been debunked by the same person who started it FWIW.
  14. I believe we have a couple of capable QBs. So I don't think it will be the end of the world if QB1 goes down imo.
  15. Not sure it really matters that much. Most coaches are gonna wait and see what other jobs open up and use those as leverage.
  16. I agree with Derek. Some people's mindset is they are done with Woody after 2.5 years. Seen enough, you can't fire him fast enough. Same people think they are good fans because they don't accept mediocrity. But to have a great program, you have to have a great coach and great players. But what really good coaches or players (without real strong ties to IU) read that stuff/hear this noise and want to come to IU (when they can go anywhere)? You can count on two hands the programs that make the tournament every year. IU isn't one of them and hasn't been for 20 years. That is the reality. No amount of social media trolling or forum complaining is going to change that. The best way for IU to get better players and coaches in the future is for Woody to do as well as possible while he is in the position. If the fans run him out the door after one bad season, that is not helping the program. If this year ends bad and next year is also bad then this issue will take care of itself. The fans don't need to push the issue. Our job is to support the team so players and coaches will want to come to IU. Furthermore, this team goes into the year as a bubble team at best. Four new starters. We are locked in with two games with Purdue. We had no chance against Purdue this year. They are up and we are down. Plus, we kicked their a** last year (so they are not looking past us). We have injuries, they don't. We have the last two years NC teams plus Auburn. Last year we had Kansas & Xavier on the road. Plus UNC and Arizona. Very few top programs schedule like that. We schedule like a top 10 program. Only go after top recruits like a top 10 program. But have been a bottom half of the conference team (except last year). We probably need to adjust our ego a bit. Also: IU Fans (in the off season) We have to play multiple marquee games in non-con because we are Indiana. It is great that we are. Crean was a fill in the blank because he didn't. I love the schedule. I can't wait until we add Kentucky too. IU Fans (during season): We have to fire the coach because he gets blown out too much. IU has already played 4 games against top 5 opponents. Other teams: Houston - 0 Purdue - 1 UConn - 0 Arizona - 0 Auburn - 0 Tenn - 1 UNC - 1 Iowa State - 1 Marquette - 1 Only top 10 teams to beat a top 5 opponent: Purdue & Iowa State Let's bring this back to reality a bit. #WoodyQuitPlayingWeirdLineups #GetGuardsThatCanShoot #GoHoosiers
  17. You're probably right. I am very sorry if I jumped to conclusions @Indykev. Please accept my apology.
  18. You said "5 years from now lets hope he makes an impact." What did you mean by that or what are you insinuating? So he's only going to help when he's a senior? Please explain.
  19. Since when in football are we expecting freshman to contribute immediately? People bitch and moan about players transferring and the portal but still expect freshman no matter what their rankings or offers are, to be one of the best players on the field or the court. Very strange in my opinion to expect that. It used to be players had some time to develop. Not anymore I guess.
  20. My guess is most teams loses are no different. Regardless, I think this team's bigger issue is the first half, not the second. Specifically the last 10 minutes of the first half; leads tend to shrink and deficits seem to grow. They seem to start decent enough then fade not a coincidently, when the bench gets more minutes (Woody does the NBA shift). This has been very obvious watching and statistically.
  21. I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure he's dealt with a lot of injuries. One was more serious than has been discussed since people just assumed he wasn't playing because he wasn't good enough.
  22. I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but I am pretty sure Leal was hurt most of last year? I also think he has dealt with a lot of injuries during his time at IU. I don't think he should be playing starter minutes, but I do think he's earned the 10-15 minutes a game that a guy with is talent should be able to contribute and think he'll probably get it.
