  1. Just got home from the game, and you could tell how much it meant to everyone, including the fans in attendance. AH was rocking tonight for a game against…. RUTGERS!! They’re definitely a very well coached team and didn’t give up after being down 14 early. That was a gritty win, and I’ll take it.

  2. Philly -2 seems like a lock, almost too good to be true. But then again, I’m not buying that Mahomes is just playing on one leg either. Not stating that it’s rigged at all, but he only limped when making a bad throw Sunday night, as in that was his built-in excuse. He looked fine on that run that resulted in a game ending penalty as well. I think Mahomes is great, if not potentially the best 5 year start of any QB to ever play. I’m sure he was injured to an extent, but I also believe that they played that out a little… you know, just in case Burrow came in Arrowhead and won again. I think Hurts has had a helluva season, and think Philly did a fantastic job putting the right pieces around him. That being said, that 2 point line is Vegas screaming for folks to throw heavy money on Philly. I do want to at least throw a hundo on a small same game parlay though… just can’t decide if I want to bet the line.

I don't think we had one ayer who I thought played real well.  TJD had the numbers but I just didn't feel he played as good tonight as he had on the past 5 games.  He turned the ball over and missed a lot of inside shots and didn't notice him on the defensive end.  Besides TJD no one else played well at all and a lot of no shows.

What is bad is that Maryland didn't really play well either but they played harder and with more energy. To me besides Purdue the rest of the big ten is filled with a lot of average to mediocre teams. When the second place team is 7-4 you know you don't have many great teams

To be fair, though, you’d think that someone other than TJD would show up more frequently. I mean, he can’t possibly put up 30/20 performances consistently. I agree that Maryland played with much more energy. Playing at home will give you an extra boost. They’re tough, and winning on the road is difficult.

  4. I know that they’ve had 8 different guys missing multiple games, and haven’t been able to have any consistency with rotations etc., but…. they’re still very poor when it comes to free throws, perimeter defense, and decision making with the ball. They lack effort, energy and enthusiasm. They get lost entirely too often on defense and I seriously can’t see where any adjustments are being made. I’m not hating on Woody, but this is a direct reflection of coaching. I think it’s easy to recruit kids to IU, but it’s becoming difficult to see any sort of identity.

  5. I was fortunate enough to be coached by two HOF coaches in my high school playing days in Indiana and one in Florida.

I’ll never forget what my baseball coach said, and it’s stuck with me over the years as a coach. “If you boys can show up every single day sporting the 3 E’s, you’ll never lose, in practice or on the ball field. ENERGY, EFFORT AND ENTHUSIASM.”

When I was young, I kind of blew it off. Once I became an adult, it hit me. It’s easy for the young fellas to get up for a big home game, but they have to harness that energy, bring the effort and be enthusiastic about it on the road as well. That’s what it takes, and that’s what we’ve been lacking for many years now. Hopefully Woody can bring this to fruition.

  6. I liked the resolve, and the fact that they didn’t wilt away when down 19 early on. Yes the officiating has been hot garbage, but I feel like it’s been atrocious all over. Hopefully we get JHS back soon, because even though X quietly had a decent game… JHS provides a spark on both ends. Arizona has a solid team and would like to play them again in March. Lots of ball left to be played, and I think the guys will get much better as the season progresses.

For the first time in my life, I looked up the actual NCAA rulebook because something was bothering me about that buzzer beater.

Rutgers got hosed - the OSU player who hit the shot could not be the first one to touch the ball since he was out of bounds of his own volition.

The NCAA also added an exception this year for players whose momentum carries them out of bounds, which still wouldn't apply because the OSU player was just nonchalantly out of bounds on his own; there was no momentum to carry him out.

  8. TJD was the obvious MVP of tonight’s game, but what we saw from Trey, Bates and Kopp was terrific. Kopp is really starting to play like the guy we thought we were getting last season. Trey’s motor was on full display and that step back got me out of my seat. When Bates is knocking down shots like he was tonight, it’s a thing of beauty. Nice team win and even though I thought we got lazy on the defensive end a couple of moments with a big lead, it was a fun game to watch. I really like the unselfish play, and seeing all of the guys make that extra pass.

  9. Bottom line is… they played with a higher level of energy than we did, brought the fight to us, and we didn’t knock down open looks. If it weren’t for Miller Kopp, we lose by 25+ today.

Yes, not having JHS mattered, but we have to be able to step up when guys are out. He won’t be the last one to miss a game this season.

  10. We definitely don’t deserve to win, but man… the officiating has been horrendous. Miller Kopp was the only one who showed up ready to play today. Race just can’t take 3 pointers because he’s open… he’s open for a reason. Rutgers was the tougher team today, and we couldn’t hit open shots.

The thing about JC... they have 3 elite 3pt shooters and really good, veteran guards.

    That will serve them well.

I don’t honestly remember, but I do believe they shot near 50% from 3 pt last night. It seemed as if they couldn’t miss. Madison’s guards are pretty decent ball handlers, but JC defended well, and extended their perimeter defense. They trap a lot in both their press and half court. Madison started out alright, but are missing some guys due to injuries(my sophomore son being one), and just wore down. Like I said, they should be solid. Let me know when you guys play them. If for some reason we happen to be off, I may come out that way and watch that game.
