I cook pork and chicken to temp. Smaller cuts of beef I do by sight. Any big cut like a pork but or roast I do to feel. The probe should have no resistance when it’s truly done.

We’ve had a lot of success with Brussels sprouts, asparagus, and zucchini on the grill. You can do them on the grate, on some foul, in a basket, or on a skillet and get great results. We do a little olive oil and any seasoning you want. I’ve seen but never tried tofu burnt ends. You cut the tofu into 1” cubes and season. Then put them on the smoker (or grill indirect) to start. Then toss them in a combination of sauce, rub, brown sugar, honey, etc. and let the sauce carmelize.

I made a bird house this afternoon. A few weeks ago we were at an event that a blue bird group was at and they talked about these houses. The screws are a little sloppy but the birds won’t mind. It’s a pretty quick project. I just used a cedar fence picket from Menards.

Did Ellis really not have any P5 offers? Outside of that top few in 2013 the offers were pretty slim. I thought I’d noticed the competition for recruits had improved so it’s nice to see something quantitative.

The transfer portal could change recruiting in a positive way. I could see a lot of negative recruiting turning into “best of luck, but if anything changes we’d still love to have you” for this reason.

I agree on your thoughts about Woodson and would add that this is a big part of Tom Allen’s success. Bob Knight has been mentioned here a few times. From what I’ve gathered a lot of the reason he could do what he was successful with his coaching style is because most of the players knew he did care about them as people. Players had the same complaints about Wooden in the 60s and 70s. This really isn’t a new thing. Something I haven’t seen here is that most people don’t think the leaker was a player. It sounds like a situation where players tried to have a conversation with their coach and someone else tried to use it to their own advantage.

This list seems like it may have been made entirely to take a shot at Michigan and I like it.

The composite takes into account the 247, ESPN, and Rivals rankings. In his case he is 4 on 247, 10 on Rivals, and 18 on ESPN. It looks like his composite is pulled down by ESPN. I’m not entirely sure how the scores are combined, though.

I did some “research” on this looking at the 247 top players in Indiana. 2020 6. Caleb Murphy (West Washington) - IU 7. Kyle King (New Pal) - MSU 20. James Bomb (Bloomington) - Miami 2021 4. Zen Michalski (Floyd’s Knobs) - OSU 9. Austin Booker (Greenwood) - Minny 10. Luke Collinsworth (Brookville) - Cincy 12. Aaron Steinfeldt (Bloomington) - IU 17. Jaelin AVD (Moorsville) - Purdue 19. Zach Richards (Moorsville) - Purdue I’m not too concerned. Obviously rankings aren’t always perfect, but the recruits from the southern (very tough to get agreement on where the region even is) end up all over the place.

Here is a quick summary of transfers by grade. Nothing too crazy there, but I’d be interested to see what it is like looking at transfers involving mid majors, majors, and different conferences.

Coach K retiring after this season. Lots of coaching news this morning. I predict his replacement will be a former player.

It’s funny to see IU ranked ahead of MSU here. I remember sitting in Memorial Stadium a few years ago and hearing MSU fans talk about how it was a small but ‘nice’ stadium. I’m still mad about it.

As summer comes up I’ll mention a new game changer I found. An oven at a low setting (about 170 max) will keep things food safe while stopping the cooking process. This means you can rest food indefinitely in it. As you pull things off the smoker they can wait there until you’re ready to serve it. It isn’t new, but I just discovered it and it made things MUCH easier.
