  1. Does anybody know of there's an "expiration date" that you have to get the 2nd shot by? I got the first dose a few days ago, but I know there are issues with distribution of the vaccine. If it takes 6 weeks instead of 4 to get the 2nd dose, is that still fine? Not that I'm worried about it, just curious more than anything.
  2. I hate how so many people try to save outdated jobs. As a country, we sometimes actively try to prevent ourselves from moving forward. We see it almost every election. One person wants to keep something outdated to help save jobs and get votes, and the other person wants to do the same with another job. I would like to see more programs and initiatives set up to transition people from outdated jobs to new ones. If your work is going to get taken by a computer, robot, or something similar, offer grants to pay for training towards a new career. Provide incentives to help people get into STEM careers that can adapt with the changing times. Start focusing more on moving the country forward instead of just moving the country along. I think a big part of that starts with our education system which I think is terrible. I do think one positive from this pandemic is that it has helped show what jobs are vital and what jobs can be transitioned to something else. I think we've moved forward in a lot of ways, but we still have a long ways to go.
  3. I've seen that McGriff rumor, and I really hope it isn't true. I would like Mcgriff for his recruiting, but I don't like the fact that he's bounced around a lot, and his 2 year stint as DC at Ole Miss didn't turn out well at all before he was fired. The Saints defense was terrible while he was there (not that it was all or even much to do with him since he was just a position coach), and now he's on an Auburn staff that just fired their head coach. That's 7+ years in a row of being on mostly unsuccessful defenses or unsuccessful teams. I would be really disappointed if he's our new DC.
  4. 1) It will be interesting to see what Wellman's focus is. Injury prevention, speed/quickness, strength. What kind of ideas he brings to the table and how he goes about getting everybody better. I'm really excited about him having a full offseason to work with everyone. 2) I'm big on the Jason Jones bandwagon. I thought our safety play was miles ahead of where it was last year, he's our highest paid defensive assistant which I think shows how much we wanted him to come here. He's familiar with Allen's system, and he's had a year on the staff to get familiar with things. Then we can hire a good LB coach to replace Wommack. 3) I think a big part of it is our offensive line. Hiller is going to really have to earn his money the next couple years. We have a lot of talent coming back, and with Carpenter coming in next year, we should start to push teams off the line. Maybe not a team like OSU, but we should be able to run the ball better. I feel like our offensive line should have been better than what it was this year. With the talent we will have the next couple years, that needs to turn into a strength. I think Sheridan got lulled into having a passing offense because that was all we could do for the first 6 or 7 games of the year. I was disappointed with his lack of creativity to help make up for the deficit of our offensive line. The OL didn't help the play calling, and the play calling didn't help the OL. For the most part, I don't think Sheridan really moved the needle one way or the other this year. Overall, not great, not bad. Today was exceptionally bad though. No excuse for not running the ball more today with how well we were doing it and with Tuttle being hurt. This was his first year calling plays, so hopefully he can improve going into next year. 4) Hopefully everybody enjoyed this season enough that we don't lose anybody who will really hurt. Not sure what to expect from the seniors, but I would guess not many of them will be back. I kind of cringed today when they said Crider was going to finish his masters this spring. I was hoping he'd come back, but eventually you get to the point where it isn't worth it. If you already have your masters, is it really worth coming back? Otherwise, I'd love to see a couple more transfers come in that could contribute right away. Another OL would be nice, a DL would be great.
  5. I know it doesn't make sense for the NFL to do it because of a short season and tv revenue, but I love how the MLB has gone to playing every game the last day of the season at the same time. It makes for a lot more suspense, and a lot more games matter that way. I wish they could figure out something because if you have a late game week 17, it can be a huge advantage.
  6. Just got back from getting the 1st shot of the Moderna vaccine. No side effects so far. A couple nurses working are parents of kids I've had in class, so we talked a little bit. They said only about 30% of the people who are eligible have been getting the shot which is why the could get us in early than they expected. We're a small, rural area, so I'm not really surprised by that, but hopefully other places are higher. 30% won't cut it.
  7. We were told a couple weeks ago to expect it sometime in January or February, which I figured meant sometime in March. I was shocked when we got the phone call about it today. We're a small county, so not sure if that factored in to why I can get it so soon.
  8. That's my biggest concern. We just don't know what the long term effects will be. Hopefully nothing, but we're going in mostly blind. I think I'll get it just to help protect my grandma.
  9. Anybody here get the vaccine yet? I just got a call that said employees at our school can get the vaccine tomorrow. Not sure which vaccine it is.
  10. Really? A left leaning site is being called out as biased? With the sites that you post things from? Come on dude. Here's one you posted. Alright man, I'm out. Take care, and I know we'll have better conversations on the football board. One thing I know we can agree on is kicking some Ole Miss ass this weekend!
  11. I agree that it should start with the person who misreported it, but that doesn't completely absolve all the people who have tried using those handful of misreported deaths to prove their point. Whether that senator did or not, it has happened quite a bit.
  12. https://www.sun-sentinel.com/coronavirus/fl-ne-coronavirus-positivity-rate-florida-explainer-20201014-tfho3kvw7jaabmlv2d7gwndgii-story.html
  13. I was thinking that the 94% included people who were obese? I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered reading about it at the time. We're over 40% obese as a country, so that skews that 94% a lot I would guess. Figuring out where to draw the line in the sand between a Covid death and a non-covid death is really blurry. I think speeding up someone's death is still a really, really big deal. I think part of the confusion with how deaths are reported is that this disease is only a year old. Everybody is trying to figure out things as they go. Not sure where you're seeing that our death total appears to be lower than last year. That isn't true.
  14. Really? There's been talk about it since this spring.
  15. I don't think anybody has an issue with people questioning some of the deaths. It is when people question a handful of deaths and try to use them to prove a larger point.
  16. I don't necessarily disagree with you about the media, but that doesn't mean we have to jump off the deep end and find crazy articles on the other side of things. There's a middle ground that far too few people live in.
  17. Pretty much the whole time Florida has had few restrictions, so it makes sense that they should have high rates. I think it is pretty obvious Florida has tried to cover up some of their numbers. Don't care enough to link one of the 700 articles out there about it.
  18. And the people who claim it is up to 40% are the people from crazy websites who checked into the data. We're supposed to just take their word for it? Did you know that last year 40% of Purdue’s shots went in by luck? I went back through all their shots, and they banked in a 3, they had one that bounced off a guys hand, and other examples I won't get into. Just trust me that it's up to 40%. I have no doubt that there are deaths reported as Covid deaths that shouldn't be. Say it is 10%. That's still over 300,000 deaths. Even if it was 40%, that's still 200,000 deaths.
  19. Curious if you think the numbers in Florida are accurate? They've been trying to cover up their deaths all along. It goes both ways, and the overall numbers are generally in the ballpark.
  20. Don't worry, Florida not counting some will make up the difference.
  21. I would put Moore in my top 4. I'd love to get some more highly ranked offensive linemen. I'd love Jackson too, but with McCulley a year ahead of him, not sure he'll want to come here. There was some talk about Curry in a thread on the basketball board, but don't remember which thread. I would guess he'll end up at OSU. Maybe @Jackson Kellogs can provide some more insight here.
  22. I know we have our bowl game in a week, and we still have some spots to fill on the 2021 class, but I can't help but be excited by what we can do with the 2022 class. It has to be one of the better in state classes in recent memory. I think this section I took a screenshot of will be the biggest thing for our class. How many of these 5 can we get (not counting Durant since I don't know anything about him). If we can get at least 2 or 3 of them, that would be a hell of a start to the class. Anybody have any recruits they think we have a good shot with?
  23. Cast your vote. I have no idea if the fan voting is used at all in the selection of the winner, or if it is just for fun. You have to retweet it to vote, and Allen is currently in the lead.
