  1. KL’s shot is horrible, he’s out of control too much (poor handle) leading to too many turnovers, and gets beat off the dribble too much. Tamar shoots it much better and is better on D, so I disagree.
  2. I wonder how much of the excitement is the “hope” for more fundamental basketball due to having an ex-IU legend and NBA coach, not so much the results just yet. Until this past game, our FT and 3 pt shooting were terrible, our halves have been inconsistent, and we’re turning the ball over like crazy. I’m cautiously optimistic based on what CMW is done so far off the court, but I’m still seeing the same issues we had before. CMW deserves time though and I hope it shines through as we get into Big10 play.
  3. In all seriousness, I’ve never understood the people on Leal’s back about his defense. I’ve felt his positioning, help D, rebounding/blocking out, effort, and IQ on that end as a whole are much better than most.
  4. Thanks! CAM didn’t break Lander. He just wasn’t ready. Agree completely with you. He’s sloppy with the ball, can’t shoot yet, and is below average on D. He has potential, no doubt, but I’d rather see Rob play due to his D in closer games. I would almost guarantee that CMW knows that KL’s night could be much better, but he wants the kid to have confidence so he’s not going to out him in public.
  5. I’m glad we have CMW, but it’s awful tough to compare him and CAM. Totally different situations (leftover roster, transfer portal, etc.) for the two. Now, do I believe that CAM could have come in to the same situation and done the same thing, no, but I’m fairly certain CAM took it seriously as well. Just didn’t work out for him. Little early to be crowning CMW as Moses isn’t it?
  6. I think Lander needs to understand his value is getting to the basket and feeding open guys, similar to X. He’s not a good shooter right now and needs to understand that. Still think he’s a below average defender, but he’s also just technically a freshman. If he keeps working there’s a lot of potential there.
  7. Lander can’t play D either. 🤷🏻‍♂️ He got some minutes.
  8. I slightly root for Al and Brunk bc they wanted to be Hoosiers. AF obviously didn’t, and Hunter wasted his opportunity so I couldn’t care less about those two.
  9. I don’t know if liked the call or not. I don’t think the play started intentionally, but it ended intentionally … if that makes sense. Because of that I THINK I agree with the ejection.
  10. If that damn Clif Marshall was a better SC coach Trey would have landed on his feet!
  11. Ok, makes more sense then. Was just basing my opinion off of what he looked like in the game up to that point. Should have dug a little bit first.
  12. My take. For whatever that is worth. *St. John’s is tough and will be a tournament team. Good W. *Great first half all-around - sub-par second half all-around. Felt like we got out-hustled, especially on the boards in the second half. But they toughed it out and got it done. *XJ needs to be able to stay on the floor. He’s def a catalyst. Rob had a bad stretch early on, but I also felt like he had a solid stretch early or midway through the second half when XJ picked up his third or fourth (can’t remember). My guess is Lander is going to keep getting opportunities unless Rob picks up his game, but I can see why KL doesn’t play much. His shot is poor and he can’t keep his man in front of him. Feel like he’s reckless with the ball too. Still young though. *Big game from Kopp. What we need moving forward. *Race seems to be bipolar. Is really good for most stretches, and then has really bad stretches (with turnovers, poor shots) sometimes. If he can reign those bad spurts in, his game will improve even more IMO. *TJD - productive as usual. Only nitpick is that he always misses a few bunnies during a game. FT shooting has gone backwards it seems. *Hope TG is okay. *JG may have had the biggest spurt of the game for us. Hit a couple big shots just after STJ closed the gap. Brought a lot of energy on D as well. *TB is going to be REALLY tough as he gets more experience. Solid now, but has out of control moments sometimes. Expected as a freshman. *3 pt shooting is a ?? still. Felt like Stewart hit one early, then disappeared. *FT shooting is really poor. I’m with others, why did we run X off screens to get the ball late? *Defense was inconsistent from half to half tonight, but got it done when we needed it against a good team. Really confused at our inability to recognize a guy on the other team killing us and not being able to halt that a bit. Champagnie is really tough, but we didn’t seem to treat him any differently from tip to buzzard. *Thought the officiating was pretty poor, but what’s new? *Still feel more optimistic about this team and this staff being able to improve, but also see a lot of resemblances from the past few years. Hoping that changes. On to the next one! Better to win and learn, than learn from losing. And doing it against a good team is even better, more reason for optimism.
  13. Got lucky. Not good enough. 2nd half was pathetic all around.
  14. Anybody want to bet we give up an open 3 here?
  15. Bardo is dumb. We can’t make FTs. Why would you let the clock run? Foul immediately.
  16. We aren’t smart enough or capable of not leaving the hot hand wide open either. Our D is a good shooter’s dream. We don’t make adjustments and allow the same person to kill us ALL night. How many does Champagne have to get before we keep it out of his hands? 100?
  17. I’m happy with the two we have in this class so far so please don’t take this the wrong way, but I kind of feel like if CAM was still here we’d be talking about how two 100+ ranked recruits aren’t where we want to be or the type of guys that will get us over the top. No?
  18. Illinois lost without Kofi on the road at Marquette by 1. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Don’t think that says much.
  19. There are certainly things that make you go 🤔.
