Any idea why you think Woodson isn’t changing style up to date? The offensive scheme is awful with our personnel. I think we were all under the impression he was going to go back to a more modern style offense once TJD left and the likes of Ware and MM commitments (length that can shoot).

noticed this as well. He’s been active on the bench too. He’s going to be a special player. A positive twist to this is Woodson saving his legs for the big games

You’re correct..but for Army, we must remember they were very important players in their system.

Kind of like a FGCU...we should beat Wright State but there's no guarantees. Regarding Walker, never understood the transfer. Guard play was more pressing than getting another raw athlete who has athleticism but little scoring ability. We have little depth at guard and if any one goes down....yikes. However, this is the roster CMW constructed so we roll with it. As for Gunn and Banks, I am rooting for them tremendously but will repeat what I said last week...They have shown very little in their 1 + years to prove that they can be a force consistently and against quality opponents...hell, Robbie Hummel said as much yesterday regarding CJ's scoring ability at the college level.

Not complaining… Discouraged yet cautiously optimistic because I think it’s a simple change. I’m hoping we see positive changes that are addressed…play a 3 guard lineup and insert Mgbako at the 4.

This isn’t ‘81 nor is it preseason. This game counts. Losing to Army would’ve been a catastrophic loss and if we found ourselves on the bubble could very well be what keeps us out of the tournament. Luckily, crisis’ adverted for the time being but many questions loom.

LOL. I’m fine. Sounds like you may need to lighten up. Again, I agree that players need to play, I don’t think the whole 2nd unit needs to play together…which Woodson’s sub patterns have now suggested for 3 years.

A ton of teams take threes against us. A lot of it is due to over helping and that’s a schematic issue because we haven’t seen a change for 3 years. I’m not sure I understand it when you have a big 7’ shot blocker in Ware waiting behind you.

Margin of victory? With all due respect…we nearly lost that game. It was tied with 3 min left. Had we lost to Army, we would’ve been trying to dig ourselves out of a bottomless hole. The worst defeat we took in the KenPom era was back in 2008-2009 to I believe IUPUI who was #214. For comparison sake, Army is at #327 truly an awful team…yes, they are below Chicago State. The 2nd unit is not it. I’m not against playing those players but we cannot play all of them at once. We have zero scoring and individuals who are constantly lost on the court (some who have been in the system for now 2 years). Woodson needs to try and shrink the bench. This all goes back to the off season. We needed an additional guard or two…not more length or raw players who may be able bodied but are not able to score.

Hoosiers don’t look good. Certainly some of it is on the players but a lot is on coaching. I’ve said this and will repeat it. Woodson’s stubbornness in not adjusting schematically to this team’s strengths will be a pitfall this season. Hopefully he sees it…also, the NBA mass substitution pattern. Despite stars/rankings… Our second unit would lose to just about anyone in the country playing together. Please don’t put them in against stiffer competition…a recipe for disaster (Already has been in our first two games). lastly, stop with the over helping…it leads to a 3 point barrage. We’ve seen this for 3 years now.

You’re spot on. For this team to be successful you need to get Mgbako playing to his ability and position him where he needs to be. I was literally about to mention the defensive assignments at the 4 but you beat me to it. It’s a huge difference in college…another reason why he should be playing the 4.

The team’s deficiencies are clear and it goes back to the off season. Woodson needed a guard or two and a shooter…he didn’t address the team’s needs.

Your last paragraph is spot on. What makes anyone think this team will be remotely good if we’re playing the exact same scheme with less an All American and NBA guard. He’s not playing to this teams strengths. For the love of god…please stop with the mass substitutions. They just kill us.

Army lost 4/5 starters. In the Portal era…teams have new players every year.

I like Woodson but I’m not ready to anoint him as though he’s brought back the program…he hasn’t. A second round loss with an All American and NBA guard is hardly impressive…and so far his stubbornness is mind boggling

We say this every year. It’s Year 3 of Woodson. It’s time to put up or shut up. Make the second weekend.
