Wright says Walker should not play unless it’s an absolute necessity…i.e., foul trouble

Listening to Ant Wright’s halftime podcast. Says there’s zero reason to play Banks and Walker together. Further says pick one or don’t play them. says Woodson needs to shrink the bench.

There is zero reason to play this lineup all at once.

Yup and against inferior opponents who were buy games. I was simply inferring the obvious…which many games will be lost to quality opponents if this alarming trend continues.

We won’t know till probably the Uconn game…though he looked to be walking better in the handshake line and nobody was helping him into the locker room. With that said, some times this team plays better without X (no, I’m not saying X isn’t good) I’m simply stating that Cupps can fill the role more than adequately and we may see some brighter spots. of course,hoping X is healthy and is playing on Sunday.

I get your point but I think your first sentence says it all. We’re not. There is no Isaiah Thomas on this team.

True and realistically we’ve only had 2 championship caliber teams (‘07-08 & ‘12-‘13).

While true, nothing suggests in the first 5 games that this is a championship team or even a tournament team. Quite the opposite in fact.

With the transfer portal and NIL, today’s college game is different than before. Most teams are in similar situations and have players being integrated into new systems. We’re not at some sort of disadvantage because we have players adjusting to a new system. Quite frankly, this is going to be a perpetual thing we see almost every year.

You may be right…but I think that was towards the end of the year. All I know is that he likes the mass subbing, it’s been glaring for some time now. It took us completely out of rhythm last night.

Woodson’s mass substitutions have been a head scratcher for 3 years…so I’m not entirely confident he’s going to stop doing them. I’m of strong belief that Woodson needs to shrink the lineup and asap. If we have Anthony Walker shooting threes against UConn like he did yesterday (coaches need to give him red light)…it’s going to be a very long day.

We’re slow on our rotations and over help. I mean, we have a big 7’ waiting to clean things up at the rim.

He isn’t wrong. Could things change? Possibly…but right now, Indiana is not a good team.

I said this multiple times when the Walker transfer happened…and there were a few that were hard pressed in justifying the transfer (a better version of Geronimo). Please…as if this team needed another Geronimo 2.0….except he might be worse. And then you have people that claim Woodson was going hard after guards but they just chose elsewhere…spare me, there are thousands of collegiate guards/ shooting guards who would literally crawl to Bloomington to play. I could pick one or two from each team we’ve played so far that I rather have as a scoring threat then Walker. We also have an open scholarship. Better hope X isn’t out. Woodson built this team in the summer and basketball is typically won with guard play…well…we don’t have it.

So why did we get Walker again?

Gunn may have the worst quick shot I’ve ever seen. He constantly over shoots the basket by a solid foot.
