I don't know if we will get Ware or not. What I do know is it's a swing and miss from the staff if we don't land him. There is no "we didn't want him anyway" or "he wanted to take too many shots" or "his motor isn't good enough," excuse to try and make the miss feel better or to pretend we didn't strike out on this recruit. It would be a complete swing and strike out. Let's hope for the alternative. Typically you need a big piece to commit first to get the dominos falling. Ware is the piece.

You and I agree here but original question posed was a fair question and not far-fetched because of some of the points you made above regarding Brand, McRobbie, Herbert…etc…we haven’t always been committed.

I agree with your statement and maybe I’m misunderstanding but in regards to Sean Miller and Xavier, Travis Steele was fired.

I think it’s a fair question. At this moment are we committed? With the recent changes in admin, I’m cautiously optimistic and think the university is committed…but for the majority of the last 20 years, that has not been the case.

Listen…I’m a CMW fan and have stated that and I’m excited to see what he can do this portal season before asking questions but let’s not pretend that he inherited a mess from Archie. Hell, he inherited an All-Big Ten player (at that time) in TJD and helped develop him into a first team All American. Did he inherit a great situation? No…but neither did Sean Miller. Very rarely do coaches inherit a good situation when they’re coming to a school who fired their previous coach. Again, we had a nice win against Xavier, but they made it deeper in the tournament…good for them and by many accounts they seem to be sitting pretty next year. I’m hoping with Woodson’s coaching ability and connections that we get there next year…it will be year 3.

Was he not a first year coach for Xavier? Xavier went from NIT for 4 straight years to 2nd weekend. That’s all I’m saying 😂. Im hoping CMW gets us there next year!

I lol’d but then quickly realized their first year coach took them farther in the tournament and are predicted to be top 25 next year in just about every pre-season poll. But hell, at least we beat them early in the season before they got their system in place.

I understand what you're saying...but as of this moment, there's a lot of uncertainties. I'm cautiously optimistic we have a strong portal...I mean, we really have no other choice.

Certainly not trying to “sound the alarms” but it’s imperative we have high impact transfers this portal period. We need to be winners this off-season. As much as Cupps, Newton and Sparks could be solid additions to the program, not all three, if any, are drastically going to move the needle for next year, which leaves us where we are regarding the portal. It would be a tough pill to swallow if we had a down year next year. This program needs consistency… and in a positive way. We need high level players that fit our program and I believe Love is one of those especially with the right coaching from Woodson.

I was about say the same thing. How does anyone know if we won’t be a championship caliber team next year? I trust Woody to bring us talent to complete at a high level.

Let’s not forget that transfers aren’t only the player’s decision. It can also be the coaches’s decision. Not sure how many are in the portal now but I know at least several hundred players have put their name in the portal. Of those, there’s probably 40 maybe 50 percent whose decision was made for them.
