  1. I’m not calling you out, but you suggested we are adding an offensive dimension we haven’t had due to Ware and Malik’s abilities beyond the arc. Nothing in their history to support that. Others in the past in HSN touted Ware’s 3 point shooting. Not saying these guys can’t develop, but it’s all speculation at this point. Like my golf game, it’s the triumph of hope over experience.
  2. I don't get where Ware and Malik developed a reputation as three point shooters. Last season: Ware: 27.3% (15-55) Malik: 25% (2-8) Race: 27.9% (12-43) Most fans were screaming at the TV for Race to stop shooting threes.
  3. Originally committed to KU's 2024 class then reclassified to 2023. Sounds like he should go to a high level prep school: While Adams posted monster numbers during the high school season -- he even had a 50 point, 20 rebound game -- he wasn't always playing against the highest level of competition that Southern California has to offer. He's also not yet played a ton of high-level competition during grassroots ball in the spring and summer. Because of that, he is still a little rough around the edges. He can be a little loose with the ball, can improve his intensity at times and as a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeves, he can learn to not let negative plays impact him for too long. https://247sports.com/college/kansas/article/marcus-adams-kansas-basketball-national-letter-of-intent-212872385/
  4. He gone: Tauja Catchings said it is tough for her, too. But part of the draw of Overtime Elite has nothing to do with basketball. “Traditional school has not been easy for him,” she said. “With his goals (in basketball), there are things that Overtime Elite can offer from the business of basketball that you aren’t going to get in a traditional school.
  5. McCaffery's 16 year old son charged with misdemeanor for killing a pedestrian in a crosswalk. This is very strange. He's charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, but at the same time it's suggested that another driver waived the jogger into his path and it was an unavoidable accident. So why charge at all? Seems like it should be vehicular manslaughter or no charges. https://www.thegazette.com/crime-courts/teen-son-of-fran-mccaffery-cited-in-fatal-crash-of-iowa-national-guard-soldier/
  6. Although not a complete player, three-fourths is better than two-thirds
  7. Mgbako and Ware are both 210. We’ll need Sparks against a lot of the B1G front courts
  8. “Allen's best (former) quarterback (Michael Penix Jr.) is chasing a Heisman Trophy in Washington. Allen's last winning season was during COVID-19. Since then, Indiana is 6-18, its worst two-year run since 2010-11. There have been two -- two! -- Big Ten wins combined since 2021. That is the definition of hot seat, especially with the Big Ten changing before our eyes. IU hasn't finished above 10th in Big Ten total offense since 2019. The Hoosiers need to be entertaining, they need to score and they need to win -- right now. 2022 rating: 2” https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/2023-hot-seat-rankings-jimbo-fisher-among-seven-college-football-coaches-with-their-jobs-on-the-line/
  9. I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University. Wm F Buckley
  10. So this qualifies as racism today: “Diaz described several racist remarks players and coaches said to him. One teammate asked him why he didn’t play soccer instead of football,” The Daily Northwestern’s reporting said.
  11. "The hazing was well-known by many in the program, though the investigator failed to find any credible evidence that Coach Fitzgerald himself knew about it," Schill wrote in his open letter. "As the entire six-month independent investigation was confidential, I only recently learned many of the details, including the complainant's identity. I spoke with his parents on Friday and the student on Sunday." That led Schill to write an open letter to the university community in which he said that he "may have erred in weighing the appropriate sanction" for Fitzgerald and acknowledged focusing "too much on what the report concluded (Fitzgerald) didn't know and not enough on what he should have known." Fitzgerald, in a statement to ESPN, said he was "surprised when I learned that the president of Northwestern unilaterally revoked our agreement without any prior notification and subsequently terminated my employment," referencing the agreed-upon two-week suspension. Fitzgerald, who said in his statement Monday that the investigation "reaffirmed what I have always maintained -- that I had no knowledge whatsoever of any form of hazing within the Northwestern Football Program,"
  12. Looking for his 5th program: Perez (6-foot-5) transferred to West Virginia in late October after Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello was let go two weeks before the season starting. Perez committed to WVU within days of entering the portal in hopes to play this past season. The Bronx, NY native sat out the entirety of the 2022-23 season after being denied a waiver by the NCAA. Perez last played in the 2021-22 season with Manhattan, averaging 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Perez shot 40 percent from the field. Perez was named the Preseason MAAC Player of the Year. Before Manhattan, Perez previously played at Gardner Webb and Marquette. Perez has one year of eligibility remaining.
  13. The formula to beat PU is to have quick guards to blow past their guards (and harass them defensively) and pull up for mid-range jumpers (while Lurch plays drop coverage)
  14. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him do something for Seton Catholic and the Boys and Girls Club. He already does camps at the B&G Club
  15. “My biggest scouting miss” https://247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Desmond-Bane-TCU-NBA-Draft-first-round-pick-recruiting-154991891/Amp/
  16. How about this tournament stat line in four games against 3A and 4A schools: 32pts, 12 rebs, 7 asts, 4 stls, 4 blks Not rated by any rating service.
  17. Yeah, Bane is a great story. I lived in Richmond when he played at Seton Catholic. He was overlooked and doubted because of their schedule. Seton is tiny. They have fewer than 90 students in grades 9-12. This is Seton's schedule: https://files.ecatholic.com/11258/documents/2023/1/2022-23 V Boys BB Schedule Updated-1.pdf?t=1673387622000 Here are a couple of good articles about Bane. The Bob Wettig tournament his senior year was notable. It proved that he could dominate against good competition. Still didn't get any offers from P5 schools other than TCU. Many believed his decision to stay at Seton hurt him. With Seton being among the smallest schools in the state, their schedule was against mostly Class A and 2A teams. Some said he wasn’t good enough to play at Richmond, or any 4A school. Many believed he couldn’t put up the numbers he was putting up against those bigger schools. Entering Bane’s senior year, Seton returned to Richmond’s prestigious annual Bob Wettig Memorial Holiday Tournament, a 16-team tournament considered among the top holiday tournaments in the state. Their first-round opponent? Richmond, a program coming off its first semistate appearance since winning the state championship in 1992, was under a new head coach. Seton, and Bane, had all the motivation in the world. Final Score: Seton 62, Richmond 58. Bane finished with 33 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots. Bane added 26 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists, seven steals and three blocked shots in a 72-61 win over Hamilton Heights (3A), 36 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three steals and four blocked shots in a 68-61 loss to Bedford North Lawrence (4A), and 35 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, four steals and four blocked shots in a 61-57 win over Warren Central (4A). https://www.pal-item.com/story/sports/college/2018/03/17/march-madness-2018-how-tcu-and-desmond-bane-became-perfect-match/434658002/ https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nba/2022/02/17/desmond-bane-takes-twisting-path-nba-but-he-there-now-memphis-grizzlies/6806666001/
