We also need to setup a poll to determine who is "The Truest Fan" on HSN. I'm pretty sure that I am but I wanna give everyone a chance.

i feel like Scott has done a pretty good job over the last few years on judging which of us are fans.  i am so bummed i can't find the old picture from this site that said "Rejected by Scott!"

Guys! What are we doing here???

I came here to read some more beating of the dead Fire Mike Woodson horse and all I'm seeing is an argument about Leal & Gallo's comments. What gives?

honestly though, i do think it's relevant.  not necessarily their comments but Woodson's.  along with numerous obvious issues, his media comments just don't do him any favors.

Care to explain what shit they have to put up with?   I bet for the most part treated very well by fans and they are big men on campus.

Any negatives they are dealing with in regards to fans are probably the same shit all players in the past have put up with as well, except now they are getting paid 6 figures.

yeah.  gotta agree.  i mean my son plays basketball and while not at that level, he gets $ for his college, attire, food, etc.  these guys get a lot more than that.  while it would be rough to read bad stuff about my kid, it kind of goes with playing on a national stage, right?  if they get flack for anything it is on social media and they don't have to read it.  i guess like Barkley always said - i am not a role model?  sorry it comes with the limelight.

  4. i don't care personally what the players or coach say about true fans.  i think it is a bad move for them though.  i don't see anything good out of being combative with the fan base especially when A.) you have underperformed and B.) it wasn't like it was brought up.  again, if a reporter asks you about it, 100% absolutely support your coach or if you're the coach, support your players.  i would expect nothing else.

What Woodson, Leal and to a lesser extent Galloway don't grasp is that their actions on senior night overshadowed what it was supposed to be about...those that graduated and have played their final game at IU (XJ and Walker).    Instead of the focus being on them and their accomplishments, it was about true fans and not true fans and drawing a line in the sand.

thought that was an absolutely terrible move by all.  just not the time and place.  no way that can help with the fans either.  just don't bring it up unless asked.

I’m perfectly fine with what the players said last night. Honestly, it’d be damning for Woodson if they didn’t. And I understand their perspective. They are the ones putting in the literal blood, sweat, and tears.

But I reject the “true fan” garbage from Woodson. That’s like my kid saying “if you loved me you wouldn’t discipline me”. No, it’s because I love you that I do discipline you. If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t.

Same thing goes for fans and the program. If we weren’t “true fans” and didn’t love IUBB, we wouldn’t mind watching it be mismanaged and would just stay quiet. The notion that fandom require silence or support in the face utter mismanagement and poor results is ridiculous.

while i don't have an issue with them standing up for their coach - this screams to me that Woodson has said things to the team like, "I hope you guys are happy.  You are playing so bad that they are saying I should be fired."  if players are interviewed and that question comes up - yes, definitely defend your coach.  otherwise do not bring it up!

Yeah I was gonna mention them but just wanted to emphasize our narrow margins against the other teams. I mean give credit to the team for winning the games but it’s not like they’re blowing anyone out or playing tough competition.

i'll give credit where credit is due and admit when i'm wrong.  i thought we'd literally lose all 4 of the last 4.  that said, they were not good teams and we didn't exactly look pretty doing it!

Woodson and the coaching staff did a great job bringing in Ware and developing him into a lottery pick. Just as they helped TJD improve his game. But because of their inability to surround those great post players with enough skilled guards, they’ve failed to maximize having their talent. This is especially true to not have an NCAAT team in Ware’s one year. With an average P6 back court this year, this should have been a single digit NCAAT team, not an NIT team. It was such a missed opportunity with a special player.

if i were Izzo i would be lobbying for IU to bring Woodson back as well.  i'd much rather that than get a good coach who could actually utilize the talent.

I am not saying this was a good season but if you were told we would finish 6th before the season what would you have thought.

i would have been a little disappointed.  not big time, but thought we would be a little better than that.  definitely thought we had the talent to be a top 25 team and make the tourney.

  10. definitely glad the players aren't against him and giving up.  doesn't change my mind even a little bit that Woodson needs to go now.  love that we fell into the 6th seed in this bad conference and feel like we have the talent to win a couple.  i love watching IU bball, so would actually rather see us play in the NIT than nothing.
