  1. always love your takes. if TJD says he's a baller, then i guess it's act that he'll be great or us. i know you like stats and facts. Stewart shot 34.8% last year from 3 in a weak conference and 38.6% as a freshman from 3. 6'5'' and 210 automatically makes it that he's "no pushover?" okay. whatever that means. i'm actually a big Brunk fan, but did i miss that he is definitely back? i hope so. scary thing is if he's not back and Race leaves, i'd argue we are even thinner up front with TJD and a freshman compared to TJD and Race.
  2. Oops. Left out that we are also losing our 3rd leading scorer and possibly our 4th leading scorer as well.

  4. Hey! NO SUNSHINE ALLOWED!!! 1. Has the front court depth gotten better? We don't know about Brunk yet right? Thompson may not be back. Duncomb is a freshman. 2. Our second leading scorer may be gone. #3 Stewart played in a weak conference and wasn't named 1st team. Bam! I actually do think we'll be considerably better next year though.
  5. I'm somewhere in between, but always say talent matters. Let's see if Franklin and/or Thompson are back. If both are back with the addition of Stewart and hopefully Brunk, I think we expect more than .500 or better. Last year's team definitely underachieved to finish 12-15. Were we uber talented? No, but 15-12 should have been very attainable. Now we bring the crew back more experienced and hopefully add Dumcomb, Brunk, Stewart. If Woodson is an Xs and Os genius like so many are saying and his player development is going to be so much better, then??? Now add Johnson and/or Brooks? Or does it go the other way? Get neither of them and neither of Franklin/Thompson... okay, I'm happy with .500.
  6. Dang! From the Scott school of thought!? It's okay to be skeptical and critical and still be a fan. I didn't like the hire, but feeling more wrong by the day. I'm happy to admit it if this turns out great.
  7. very excited that Lander is back! i think he could be a completely different player than what we've seen. man i hope Franklin and Thompson come back. even one of them, and i'm feeling solid.
  8. i hope coaches are better than promising anyone a starting spot. a guy like Franklin would assume he'd get a spot, but it seems strange for Woodson or Underwood to even bring that up. "If you come to Illinois, I promise you will be a starter." just seems weird and unnecessary.
  9. i'm a little surprised people are sold on Geronimo being more valuable than Lander, Race, or Franklin. let alone all 3! i mean, i see potential, but what i saw had a long way to go. certainly Lander does too, but i'll be interested to see how this turns out.
  10. don't care about color or being an IU guy. i just want the best coach. is that Woodson?
  11. there's a lot of talent out there. most of our guys were not highly ranked out of high school.
  12. let's not leave out Matta and Hunter. Brown and Lewis next and then Lander, Franklin, Brunk and Thompson!
  13. I can't remember which poster used to always post "who cares?" whenever Boiler posts? Was Rico the one who was trying to shut the Purdouche talk down recently as well?
  14. Good morning my friend! Good to hear from you. You know I always value your opinion!
  15. i want all of them back, but i think outside of TJD, Franklin, Thompson, and Lander, i wouldn't lose a ton of sleep about finding players who can fit any vacated spots. as long as TJD is back, i think we can survive one of those other 3 leaving and still be solid. if we lose 2 or 3 of these 4, it could be a very tough season.
  16. you can count on it! death, taxes, and Scott arguing whatever point you make. i literally think he researches if he can't think of something immediately just to give you one example of how your point could be wrong. generally it's very emphatic too. you absolutely cannot be right because Scott disagrees! i thought the board was going to explode when he and IUFLA turned aginst each other!
  17. well put. i love Zeke, but no. just no. need guys who are going to help with player development. i mean it would be cool to have a coaching staff of Woodson, Thomas, Benson, Cheaney, and Alford, but...
  18. admittedly i don't watch the NBA, but they play a good 10 good minutes regularly don't they? it's another thing i think i hate about the NBA, but i could be wrong. those guys need their nights off and load management, etc, etc.
  19. yeah. i agree it is not a good comparison. he does have a lot more coaching experience. i would argue that there is a much better chance recruits would have heard of those guys than Woodson. definitely different situations.
