  1. I complained a few weeks ago about how I'm seeing high schoolers catch a pass and hop sideways to shoot. According to some younger fans, that hop is legal in order to "gather" the ball before shooting it. I hate AAU and what it's done to basketball with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns.
  2. This is pretty typical winter weather in Indiana. Just don't see why everything has to shut down or stop for a couple inches of snow. I bet schools here will get another 2 hour delay tomorrow. lol
  3. 2-4 inches of snow coming to northern Indiana tonight. It's supposed to start off as rain and not fully transition to snow until after midnight, but that hasn't stopped a handful of basketball games from already being postponed. Crazy.
  4. Just a light-hearted joke, nothing more. I agree that college offenses stink, especially our own.
  5. Looks like the schools here will finally peel off the band-aid and go back to work tomorrow, but not before the obligatory 2 hour delay that always follows a snow day. Lol.
  6. OMG, when the whistle blew on that last play I thought they had called a foul. Gritty win for the Terps.
  7. Purdue about to win another road game. I don't know why they're able to achieve the results they do while we struggle every year. They don't have any inherent advantages over us as a program.
  8. I bet Scott is rolling his eyes at the Purdue-Maryland halftime score.
  9. Maryland has won games at Wisconsin, at Minnesota and at Illinois, but has yet to win a home game. How is that possible?
  10. Not only are schools still closed today, but basketball games tonight are getting cancelled too. It's amazing that in 2021, we're cancelling everything 2 days later after a run of the mill winter storm that's no different than any other winter storm we've ever had here.
  11. I live in northern Indiana. Not in an area that gets lake effect snow, but I swear the schools here close every time it snows now. When I was growing up, snow days were exciting because of how rarely we had them. Kids today don't get excited for snow days because they expect them.
  12. Something else I've not been able to figure out: schools closing, but services provided by the schools remaining open. The schools in my area are closed again tomorrow because of road conditions, but childcare at some of them is still open. I'm not sure why it's safe to bring your kids to childcare but not safe to send them to school.
  13. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, the Pacers have given up a 38-13 run and are now down by 5 with less than a minute left.
  14. This is why I just can't get into the Pacers. I saw they were up big earlier. I came here now and saw this thread had a new post, and without even seeing the post, I knew it was going to be someone commenting that they had blown that lead.
  15. Can't believe how many schools are already closed tomorrow. It's like people are afraid to drive on a wet road.
  16. Some meteorologists have called this "heart attack snow," because it's so hard to shovel. I can see why. Almost broke my shovel earlier.
  17. If he had 14 points I guarantee Archie would have left him in the game. Can't risk the wrath of Ed Smith's twitter account.
  18. I live in northern Indiana. Looks like we're finally getting hit tonight. Our first winter storm warning in over 3 years. The snow drought we've been in is incredible. Every storm misses us.
  19. Refs just stole 2 points from Iowa. Cockburn blocks a layup attempt by Wieskamp, who immediately puts it back in for 2 while the officials blow the whistle for a goal tend. They then head to the monitor and overturn the call, negating everything that happened afterward.
  20. Southern Wells has a couple players who transferred from Whitko. Any idea why those kids left? Seemed like a strange move to make.
  21. Another pet peeve: shooters catching the ball and hopping sideways to shoot. Refs usually don't see it because they're watching the ball instead of the shooters' feet.
  22. I think we were discussing this in another thread, but does anyone else find themselves annoyed at the emerging trend of coaches calling timeouts after their teams score? I saw it happen twice in the fourth quarter of a game last night by a team that was ahead. It just smacks of micro-managing and kills the flow of the game.
  23. My high school used to have a coach who did this many years ago. He claimed it was to reiterate to his players that they had done something well. He took a lot of heat for doing it when we were playing in a heated rivalry game and had just scored to go up by 10 late in the third. We ended up scoring 6 points the rest of the game and losing by 2.
  24. OSU made 11 shots inside the arc in the first half. They only made 6 the entire game against Purdue the other night.
  25. lol I've been joking for awhile now that the AP is trying to rank as many Big Ten teams as possible before us. I think Maryland, Penn State, Purdue and Nebraska are the only others who haven't cracked the top 25 yet. Maryland is probably on their radar after their win today.
