  1. Hearing that a recruit had a good visit is like hearing that somebody's surgery went well; you rarely hear the opposite. But I wish he'd hurry up and commit. The way things typically break for IU recruiting, the rare occasions where we lead for a recruit have conditioned me to expect the recruit to start adding more schools.
  2. The Tigers and Giants have been in a rain delay for 4 and a half hours. This is every team's worst scheduling nightmare: the final game of an interleague series between two teams who are three time zones apart with a steady rain that just won't stop.
  3. Sort of a cool moment yesterday for a Tigers team that won't have many of them: Spencer Torkelson (new franchise guy) drove in the tying run in the 8th inning, then Miguel Cabrera (old franchise guy) singled in the winning run in the 11th. A couple Mendoza line dudes coming up clutch.
  4. I feel like if they had, some insider would have at least acknowledged it. It's far too quiet. Maybe the Catchings family didn't want it discussed anywhere.
  5. Fort Wayne set a record high of 83 yesterday. So naturally, there's a chance of snow Monday morning.
  6. Can't believe anyone could think that was legitimate. It's an unverified account with the name "IU Fan" whose source is a "local college coach." lmao I'm starting to think there was no meeting at all. Like I said before, damage control on Purdue's part to get their online fans to settle down.
  7. Izzo is just saying what we know for right now. He doesn't know what any of the Purdue players plan on doing.
  8. Javier Baez was pulled in the second inning tonight when he forgot how many outs there were and was doubled off second base on a fly-out to center. Previously, he stood in the batter's box and admired a ball he hit to left, thinking he'd hit a home run, only to see it hit the wall instead. Pretty much sums up the Tigers in 2023. But to be fair to Baez, I can remember multiple instances over the years when Miguel Cabrera would stand and watch what he thought was a home run, and end up with a long single because his fat a$$ couldn't make it to second base. So I guess Baez did a little better in that regard.
  9. Last year, the Tigers had the worst offense in MLB. They did nothing to address it in the offseason and...they still have the worst offense in MLB.
  10. The Tigers are poised to land another top 5 pick in next summer's draft. At least they can finally send Cabrera on his way after this year.
  11. Is Iowa that team that always throws their ace on Sunday instead of Friday?
  12. Another weather-related one: people who flood comment sections on weather posts with stuff like "I never got any notice of the warning from your app, thanks for nothing," etc. Here's a thought: maybe put your effing phone away, go outside, observe what's happening and decide what you need to do next. I know, making your own decisions instead of relying on someone else to alert you is both challenging and scary. Welcome to life.
  13. My trusted weather source had a post last night complaining about groups who are more interested in scaring people that forecasting weather. I'm wondering if this is the post it was referring to, and if this is what caused school administrators to freak out and cancel everything today:
  14. Friday night was a lot worse. Zero thunder or lightning with this one.
  15. Well, about 10 minutes after my last post, the tornado sirens just went off. Crazy.
  16. Nothing but rain and wind so far. Looking like the outbreak that was predicted will be a bust. School officials jumped the gun early this morning and cancelled school. I bet they feel pretty foolish now.
  17. If more people ignored, there'd be a lot less drama. Yes, I'm aware I didn't do that just now. You could add "an adult who communicates like a kindergartner" if you're comparing what you see here to today's world.
  18. They would have to play all their games before January 31st to win a regular season national championship.
  19. The tornado count is now up to 124, making it the 4th-largest outbreak ever. Indiana had a surprisingly high number of tornadoes given the SPC's forecast last Friday.
  20. Up to 108 tornado reports from last Friday. Now the 6th-largest tornado outbreak ever in the U.S.
  21. People who can't read maps. I follow a lot of weather geeks who post maps of weather forecasts and patterns and there's always someone in the comments asking where is this, what is this map showing, etc. I saw a Facebook post earlier today circling a region that could see severe weather in a few days, and someone commented asking what states were being shown (the map was large enough to see the all the Great Lakes). I sh*t you not, when I hovered over the person's name, it said they graduated from Purdue.
  22. Definitely got my severe weather fix last night. Tornado warning was issued at 11:20 and the sirens went off. It took almost 45 minutes for the storm to arrive, but when it did, we got hammered. I started getting uneasy about 5-10 minutes before it hit because the wind died down and everything got very still. I didn't lose power, but the streetlights all went out, and the sky had a greenish tint to it. I also heard a roar that sounded like a train. NWS is sending surveyors to look at an area just southwest of me today. No real damage here, just some tree limbs down.
  23. Around 0:05-0:06, she catches the ball on the B1G logo and both of her feet move before she shoots.
  24. LMAO, Fairleigh Dickinson is such an outlier, it needs an arrow pointing toward it. And Purdue lost to that team.
