  1. You and I feel the same. I just took the passive aggressive approach!
  2. It will be interesting to see how Scheyer can assimilate all of that talent. Duke/ESPN are a recruiting machine, but even coaches K and Cal have had trouble managing all of the egos and interested parties. Every player/parent/handler of recruits ranked that highly think they are OAD, and have expectations for how they are featured. We'll see how he orchestrates the personnel in addition to coaching basketball.
  3. Good call. Listened to the press conference and this was mentioned several times. Bell mentioned that's the most one of his offenses has ever thrown the ball, but that's what they were being given. We were a couple bad throws and a couple drops from really making them pay.
  4. In Shivers defense, he was probably foggy headed after getting blown up on the first play. Dude is tough as nails just to return. I thought he was going straight to concussion protocol, and I'm really excited about him this season. That would've been a terrible loss, and I think he'll have a major impact for us.
  5. I don't see us lining up and smashing the ball up the middle against anyone with our current personnel and line coach. We need movement, misdirection, and speed to move the ball on the ground. Jet sweeps, screens, and getting receivers involved will probably be necessary. We'll learn much more over the next few weeks.
  6. Devastating for him and us. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Hope he's back for another year. Builds in an excuse for Hiller. Time to step up boys.
  7. All the SoCal people that liked football moved to Austin, Texas!
  8. 2 good choices. Whoever it is better hire some serious recruiters with connections in Texas or Florida. Gotta recruit speed.
  9. Agree on both. The biggest advantage, other than money, for Nebraska is getting to play in the B1G west. Much easier than Rutgers having to face the East. Have to wonder if Schiano learned from leaving Rutgers before. Not sure he'd be welcomed back a third time if he was fired at Nebraska. He may value being close to family and friends more at this point in his life.
  10. Sadly true. But with that come ridiculous expectations at Nebraska. You can coach at Rutgers for 20 years making X, versus 4-5 years at Nebraska making Y before getting fired. Plus you live in Lincoln. Nebraska. If they're gonna back up the Brinks truck, go get a Midwest boy like Kalen Deboer. You just better have a plan of where you're going to recruit your speed. No strong geographic recruiting base at Nebraska.
  11. A healthy Penix running Deboer's offense is a test for ANYONE. Not sure what kind of weapons he has at Washington, but they usually have some talented skill players. Wish nothing but the best for him. Too bad he couldn't stay healthy for us.
  12. It would for Nebraska, not sure about Schiano. He's a New Jersey guy with major recruiting connections in that area. I look at him as a Rich Rodriguez situation at West Virginia, it just works. Other than taking the Penn State job, or going back to the NFL, not sure why he'd leave. Who knows.
  13. Now bring in someone that emphasizes conference play being called closer to the NCAA tournament. Stop the rugby!
  14. Good win. Clifford was gimpy after that nasty hit on his bad knee. Nice to see him finish strong after struggling to throw accurately in the second half.
  15. Clifford is a scrambler that can't scramble.
  16. First time I saw one team get three defensive flags on one play Boiler up!🤣
  17. Solid breakdown of your thoughts on the season. I'm pretty optimistic as well, but last season was such a flop with injuries and coaching incompetence, it's hard to predict. 2 healthy quarterbacks, a new oc, better wr's, and capable rb's give me hope on offense. Allen calling plays on defense will be huge. I wouldn't be shocked with a 5-0 start, but 4-1 more likely. Should handle Purdue, so need 2-1 against Maryland, Rutgers, and MSU to be bowl eligible. Really believe the range of potential wins is bigger this season than in quit some time. O$U is the only unwinnable game. Michigan and PSU have more talent, but momentum and injuries could give us a puncher's chance. Can't wait for the season to start. I'll second your 7-5 call. Want a Music City Bowl appearance so I can drink beer with btownqb!
  18. Exactly. They need to run two tight end sets and dominate the offensive and defensive lines. Unfortunately running the option offense just isn't feasible in power 5. They need a unique system they can recruit for, and build a consistent culture. Just not sure what the answer is for them.
  19. Bama's is very surprising to me. Not sure how they're 7th with 4 non-conference games. Texas is a name only, Utah State, ULM, and....Austin Peay!
  20. Agree the coaching and development are vastly superior, but the 5 stars certainly help ( He doesn't make the playoff with our roster). Saban walked into a loaded talent situation with Alabama high school seniors his first season. Most were going to Bama anyway. Saban developed them and established his system. He's never looked back.
  21. For sure. Bama will get theirs. But for the reasons you mentioned, it will be MUCH tougher. If South Florida, SoCal, and potentially Texas get locked down again, it will be more cyclical for Bama than plugging in 5 stars at every position annually.
  22. Best post I've read in awhile. Riley at USC should give the B1G a solid second potential playoff team. His recruiting should allow them to compete annually. He'll also keep the top SoCal kids home, which will hurt Bama and some of the other schools that have poached that talent since Pete Carroll left.
  23. We have a new OC and everything except the line personnel will be different on offense than last year. Defense should be better with Allen calling defenses. Total crapshoot, but I say 5-7 wins, with 7 coming from the optimist in me.
  24. That's a great point on the passes, and no small thing. Putting passes in the shooters pocket, or utilizing proper entry angles to the post is vital for success. Great to see our guys having solid fundamentals and chemistry.
  25. Love it. I get that it's a fun competition, but his stroke is high, quick, and smooth. If he can be a consistent deep threat on the wing, we are a dangerous team. His length and ability to put the ball on the floor is what we were missing on the wing last season. Looks like he's put in the time on his shot this off-season.
