  1. Publicly he has been great. I was referencing some comments he made to coaches down here soon after taking the Georgia job. Think that's pretty normal to feel that way soon after a break-up. He was/is a good ambassador, and hope he appreciates his role in our history as the guy that brought us back from the ashes.
  2. So true. Davis was gifted a dream opportunity he wasn't remotely prepared for at the time. But you have to take that job. It seemed he had a major chip on his shoulder at the time, because he knew he didn't earn the job. He admits he did and said things he regrets now. Love his appreciation of the job, the school, the fans, and our history. I hope over time Crean learns to feel the same way. Both guided the program at very difficult times, and seemed to genuinely care.
  3. That's the thing with he and Malik, they're ready to go day 1 physically. They both played a national schedule and national tournament at Montverde that will have them ready for size and talent. They also practiced against other D1 players daily. Hope we keep that pipeline of talent flowing to Bloomington!
  4. Done! Although I'm not sure Nashvegas could handle us.
  5. Vandy fans are content to be the brilliant doormats of the SEC. Their gameday atmosphere is closer to UAB than the rest of the SEC or even IU. Since Wilson came to IU, I don't think they're anywhere close to us. With our new president's interest in sports, I think that gap will only get wider.
  6. I would think those schools will be "in play" at some point. If the decision is made to go to 2 mega conferences, the SEC makes sense for those schools and the SEC.
  7. The SEC will do what ESPN tells them. They're not as worried about markets because ESPN promotes their product (SEC) nationally. Seems like Fox Sports has slowly awoken to the need to function similarly. I just don't believe they have the same control over the B1G.
  8. Great post. It seemed like Alabama overpaid Nick Saban because they were desperate after numerous rejections and coaching failures when he was hired. To see the difference in Alabama's campus pre Saban until now is shocking. Alabama recruits east coast kids and out-of-state tuition just like IU. Their business school reputation has increased substantially. Bama had a vision and invested in it. Granted they have a completely different history and foundation than IU, but it's a great lesson on how bold investments can pay off.
  9. Could be a new version of the Blue/Gray Bowl for the title. ESPN would have a field day with those story lines.
  10. We will also be facing Colby Jones from Mountain Brook, Al that played on the same high school team as Trendon Watford. Not sure how he wasn't scouted better when they came to watch Trendon. Great player, student, and person. Very athletic.
  11. Must be a really good student with that list of schools.
  12. Good comparison. One of those players that affects the game a ton without needing the ball. Just a MUCH better shooter.
  13. UNC was a completely different team with Manek in the game. His competitiveness really cranked up their intensity, and fired up their fans. He also looked for the big shot in big moments. Manek was also very physical and did all the small things not seen on the stat sheet. Nance has all the tools and may fill the hole, but he was a nice player on a bad team. He may or may not be a good fit. His level of impact remains to be seen.
  14. Michigan State had several years with an incredibly hard non-conf sos, and a mediocre record. They lost some games, but made the final 4. With a veteran squad, I think you can learn and build. A young squad could have their confidence crushed. Guess we'll find out.
  15. Wow. Blazing his own trail I guess. With Texas moving to the $EC, he could create quite the legacy. And his NIL money should be more than the GDP of a small third world country!
  16. IU, Duke, KU, and UK tier 1, Then everyone else.
  17. Great post. With the talent we're accumulating, and coaching staff we have in place, the fears of the rest of the league may be realized. The IU sleeping giant has been awoken.
  18. Agree. The optics look bad for them. It would be pretty easy for an unscrupulous recruiter to make certain accusations. If any of the former Duke players fan those flames, it would be pretty easy to torpedo Scheyer's reign as coach. Looks like coach K handled things poorly in an effort to stay in control.
  19. Grew up with his dad Jason. Great guy. I'm in absolute shock. Please pray for his family.
