  1. Hoe many scholarships do we have available? One thing I would want to make sure of the portal is that we have room to land 24 and 25 kids. That being said, if you land Ledlum and Ware to add to Sparks, I think you have a pretty attractive roster to land a good shooting guard like Knecht (your roster starts looking pretty good). Even without a great 2G we have some new talent coming in and some guys on the bench who hopefully make a jump next year. Cupps and Newton maybe fill that role or Gunn. You also have a bunch of guys that could play different positions on the floor. Ware is close to respectable from behind the arc. Get him into the 30%s this summer and he is a really big potential stretch 4 on offense and could play just fine with Reneau. Ledlum looks like he could maybe be a 3/4. Galloway is a 2/3 who has even played the 1. Gunn and Newton are 2/3's. Cupps could be a 1/2. Sparks is a nice back up 4/5. You have some roster options that we didn't really have this year IMO.
  2. PG - X SG - TBD SF - TBD PF - Reneau C - TBD I really think that is where we are at right now.
  3. Based on what? We are getting the same "traction" as about anyone else at this point. Some of you guys have the patience of my 7 year old.
  4. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4432483/jalen-deloach Hadn't really seen his name. That is the thing about the portal, there are so many guys out there and you aren't going to know what you have until you see them on the team IMO.
  5. It's not, but it is different from recruiting some of these other guys from other places.
  6. I am not panicking but just want to comment on the bolded. The kid we nabbed would have been like offering me a scholarship when I was 19 or 20. "Hey IUCrazy2, this is Bob Knight" "Yes." "Yes what son?" "To whatever you are about to ask me coach." I get the impression that Sparks just got his dream offer. We didn't have to have that guy visit, he was ours the minute Woody said, "Hey son, how would you like to pla-" "Yes, yes, yes, yes."
  7. For sure, but it wasn't too long ago that they were at least throwing pasta...now we get sh--.
  8. So basically a list of the most popular programs expected to be really active in the portal this spring. This isn't directed at you, but man Twitter has really reduced the quality of sports "journalism". Most of us could spend out day scrolling through sites and come up with this stuff without ever really having to talk to anyone.
  9. And now UConn has joined us with 5 titles...all since 1999. Nice run for them. I hope we get it figured out at some point, I'd really like to see another one. I was 8 in 1987, I barely remember the last one. ETA: And is it just me or does it seem like UConn is like an opportunistic school? They have been kind of meh, but they always seem to be ready to win one in a year like this where the "traditional" powers are all suffering from a down year?
  10. I agree. Woodson is the guy. Dusty May is in year 5 and took 4 years to get running. Woodson came in and went to the tournament in back to back years, that hasn't been done here in awhile. Woodson's first two years have not been perfect by any stretch of the imagination but we have seen some good things. Time to put the coach convo to be for awhile. We basically have NCAA free agency going right now and someone brought up replacing a Coach that had a key player go down and still managed 2nd place (tie) in conference and won a tournament game. I think we just need to zip it with the "I wish we had XYZ as coach" stuff. It isn't happening and serves no purpose right now.
  11. I don't want to knock the guy, he has done a great job for that school. I am just saying that nobody was beating the Dusty May drum until about 2 weeks ago. I hope he continues to improve because I do think Woody is on a shorter schedule than our past few hires, it would be nice to basically have our "Roy Williams" waiting to come home.
  12. He is doing well. This year is the outlier though, he was 54% winning percentage heading into this year. (66-56). Yeah, that was at a struggling program but still kind of middling results. Nobody on here was talking about adding Dusty May as our next coach when we had an opening 2 years ago. Nobody was talking about him last year. Now he is the next savior because of a run to the Final Four. This whole thread would not have been posted if not for the FF run, that is what I mean by flavor of the moment.
  13. 17-16 (8-10), 17-15 (8-10), 13-10 (7-5), 19-15 (11-7) were his first four years. They were 35-4 (18-2) this year and made the Final Four...which was a great year. The first four years would have had people like you (and me to be honest) asking for a new coach. You are just buying into the flavor of the moment fallacy right now. Let's see what happens the next few years. If Dusty continues to improve he may be the guy to step in down the road and take over whenever Woodson leaves. He should have the dominant team in his conference now, so let's see how he maintains his program.
  14. There was no good guys in that game last night. Both of the teams are pretty unlikable because of their star players.
  15. People getting all hot and bothered because of the flavor of the month. The tournament is a fickle girlfriend. Terri Moren's team was every bit as good as any of those Final Four teams this weekend and they had a player tweak a knee and had an off game and suddenly their year isn't as good. Dusty May had a heck of a year. Archie Miller and Tom Crean both did at one time too. Chasing the sexy hire doesn't always work. No Coach is perfect, Woody is the guy and we have put together tournament appearances. I am really interested in what we look like next year. There are things to like here and things to maybe improve. Woody is the guy so that topic isn't even worth having.
  16. Everybody has the blue print for them now and I doubt they get another favorable BIG schedule again. Bold prediction, even with Edey back, Purdue takes a small step back next year.
  17. I wouldn't make that argument but I do think that the game is more "dumbed down" offensively than it was in the past. There doesn't seem to be as much variety anymore. (I mean in general, not for IU.)
  18. Are they still expected to play the zone with Boeheim leaving?
  19. Maybe with them getting paid they turn it into the NFL model....
  20. Good players aren't always good fits. I think that would be the case with him.
