  1. By that point I think you have already had the team committed around the 2G/Wings we already have on the team. Ohio State showed last year that amassing talent isn't always the answer. I would be more in if he was on campus going through the same kind of team building that occurs with those guys being together every day and going through workouts. If some dude shows up and yanks a starting spot (or major minutes) that can go two ways. Like you, I doubt we have to worry about it.
  2. They need him to so they can have enough guys to practice....
  3. If he couldn't be here until August, I wouldn't take him. Too much team building going on over the summer to throw in a guy that is going to expect shots right before school starts. IMO
  4. Seems like the Kentucky folks are confident that Reeves is coming back.
  5. True, based on the NBA draft article he coached one poorly.
  6. Stealing both from Kentucky so a win/win?
  7. It is as simple as this, Scheyer isn't Coach K. He doesn't have a history of putting big men in the NBA. https://www.si.com/nba/draft/newsfeed/2023-nba-draft-handful-of-duke-prospects-with-opportunity-to-make-the-jump#gid=ci02ba8f570000273e&pid=usatsi_19516261 The dudes that went are almost all based on the same potential they had before they got to Duke. He isn't Coach K, he is riding his recruiting coattails. He may eventually turn into something or he may become Mike Davis if he doesn't get that figured out and people catch on.
  8. Probably just lost our best player to the transfer portal (Kern). College is becoming as meh as the pros.
  9. I will be interested to see how this system plays out in a few years. A whole bunch of money being thrown out and I wonder what that looks like down the road if/when results don't follow.
  10. Agree. And honestly these dudes are leaving for some pretty big pay days. Pay for summer school and cash your big check.
  11. Would he play the 2/3? I don't think this kid would start over Galloway but potentially having 6'3" at PG and then every other player on the floor at 6'8"+ is intriguing.
  12. I wish him well in the NBA ASAP. 😉 Purdue is a totally different team if he goes and I think his loss drops their potential finish in the BIG by 5 spots, give or take. (From the 2-3 range down to 7-8).
  13. My all time favorite player. Glad to see him back. I also think he was big in relationships when Crean was here.
  14. The potential is there but as we know that doesn't always translate.
  15. I think we potentially are if Ware and Mgbako perform to expectations. Xavier, Galloway, Mgbako, Reneau, and Ware is a pretty tough starting 5. If we get any growth out of Gunn or Banks or Jakai comes ready to play for 10 to 15 minutes, then we have a really strong roster. I think it is really possible we will not individually have anyone as good as either TJD or JHS but the sum of all the parts could make for an overall better team.
  16. Purdue paying any NIL? If yes, then they are too.
  17. There is also a difference between a guy who is just entering his second year and one entering his fourth. I have no call obviously but this guy would be a pass from me if I had a vote.
  18. I thought a UNC athlete would be receiving the best education and be dialed in like no other on the academic side......
  19. Country finding out that we didn't compete with Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Kansas these past few decades because we couldn't, it is because we actually thought the rules mattered and didn't want to be a bunch of fudging cheaters. For all of my dislike for some of what this version of NIL is doing, one good thing is that it is going to knock some of these arrogant programs off the pedestal that rests on a pile of cheating that most programs couldn't or wouldn't engage in. Bill Self, Coach K, Roy Williams, John Calipari are the college basketball equivalent of Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds being juiced out of their mind. "So exciting" but not as impressive as people doing it cleanly. The playing field is going to level and we are in plenty good position to be one of those big boy programs again. Our hands are no longer tied.
