  1. I did not get to see the beginning of the game. I caught the last 10 to 12 minutes or so and it seemed like a bunch of those turnovers were coming from guys I would consider as "reserves". Definitely need to clean up the ball handling, but how many of the TO's were a reflection of who was playing? Also, I said this in the game thread as well...but it was nice to see a coach actually doing the Bob Knight thing with this type of game. We got the big lead and then Woodson turned the game over to the bench and said, "Show me what you got." Crean and Miller really did not do that. I think the Knight/Woodson approach is helpful in 2 ways: 1. It reduces the wear and tear on your core players. 2. For guys who are maybe lacking some confidence in a piece of their game or who are maybe struggling a bit in practice, it gives them a chance to test out some of the things that they are being taught against unfamiliar opponents. Parker Stewart and Khristian Lander probably got nice confidence boosts out of this game. Leal got a fes to drop, including that second chance at the set 3 pointer. In the long run, Louisiana is not a good squad. However, I think we squeezed quite a bit out of that game. We could have won by 50 if we did things the Crean/Miller way, but I don't think the 50 point win would have been nearly as productive.
  2. Developing the bench. I thought that was a forgotten art after the past 4 years.
  3. I missed this one and the last on purpose. Honestly, I encourage you all to do the same. There are way better ways to use a Saturday afternoon than to spend another 3 or so hours giving yourself heartburn watching the inevitable.
  4. I am not saying there is not things to clean up, but take that year 4 team that Miller had with many of the same players. I honestly don't think that we give up a lead to that St. Johns team. I think with the packline and the way they shoot the ball, they would have run us off our own floor. I completely agree that the players need to develop the killer instinct, the free throw shooting drives me nuts, and they are still shaky behind the arc. However, with all of those things the team is still finding a way to win. That St. Johns team would be a tough out for anybody. It will be interesting to see how they do against Kansas in a few games.
  5. One thing, everyone talking about this year and last year is comparing year one with a coach instilling his system to year four? for another coach. Yes, there are definitely growing pains. However, we haven't lost a game. We didn't get blown out by Indiana State in Woodson's first game. The type of offense we run appears to be more "modern". Defense seems to be more tailored to handling a modern offense (can you imagine what that St. John's team would have done to the packline?). Yes, sometimes it just comes down to finding a way to win. That is kind of why they play the game. And 3 out of 3 times this year, the team figured out how to do that.
  6. Rob is a really good defender. I am kind of hoping that he has that light go on offensively like Fife did his senior year.
  7. Man...gonna have to hit some foul shots I think.
  8. If we don't pull this out, we are going to kick ourselves for all the points we left at the line.
  9. The officiating in this game has been a damn joke.
  10. Since when do we review foul calls, what absolute horse shhh
  11. I like it...and frankly I like the fact that they are both out of state guys. I like having Indiana talent as much as the next guy but I think there has been a sense of entitlement with some of our guys lately that just has not been earned (thinking back to Crean/Miller eras). There has been a perception I think, particularly with kids in the state, that Indiana can be put on the back burner. That does not appear to be the case anymore...which is good. Competition, good competition, for scholarships increases that sense of urgency in guys. I know the Indiana HS coaches get pissy when they get overlooked, but the state has not been super good to us outside of a few exceptions for years now. And it sucks to say that.
  12. Ok, now I see what you all were saying about the zoomed in camera. You miss half the action.
  13. Yeah, this season has been a disaster. I will be shocked if we win another game. If someone told you at the end of the Ole Miss game that this team was going to go 2-10 next year, you would have called them crazy. Train wreck is not close to describing how bad this season has been. Think of all the new season ticket holders that got picked up this year, good luck convincing people to make that investment again. The stadium was like a COVID year game by the end yesterday.
  14. And down 7-0 in 1:13 because of it. Basically the whole game left so we can win this, but this season has just been an unmitigated disaster. Take all the momentum from the past several years and just flush it down the toilet bad.
  15. It is the principle of it all for me. I am not dropping $10 for one game, with student announcers, and just poorer production value across the board against a MAC team. They do this every year as a money grab. One game. Early in the year. It's only $10 but the BTN gets money from me through my cable provider, year round, for a few hours of worthwhile content on Saturdays in the fall and a couple hours here and there in the winter.
  16. The BTN and their monthly subscription fees would disagree.... But yeah, I hate when they do this junk. It is to drive IU fans to sign up for one game, hopefully forget to cancel, and then the BIG makes a few bucks off everyone who does.
  17. https://purdue.rivals.com/news/trey-kaufman-renn-expected-to-redshirt-this-season This guy went to Purdue expecting to redshirt? WTF?
