  1. My ideal approach is kind of a hybrid. Look at the company first. If there's too many red flags in their products or their financials, nope. Then, does their current price reflect their valuation? If there's upside room, I'll consider it. That second part is why I've stayed clear of GME and the like. Once I know there's likely some long term growth possible, then I'll start dabbling in the timing the market game. If it seems hot, I'll sell with the plan of buying back in when it cools again, provided the longer term trend is still overall positive. I'm probably 50/50 at best at doing it, but hey...it's fun.
  2. Yep, same here. I tinker with the mix of funds every now and then, but I'm out of my league to try it with my "real" money. Any individual stocks are basically entertainment....I view it as gambling with slightly better odds. I don't put anything out there that I'm not willing to lose most of. My goals on my individual portfolio....pay for the family's vacation and spin gains/dividends into my IRA.
  3. So far this year.... - Replaced 18 light fixtures and 5 ceiling fans - installed 3 integrated light/fan controls (1 to go). I have a passionate hatred for pull chains on fans. - Installed 3 Kasa smart switches for outside light timer/controls - Stained a new but previously unfinished deck - Installed two runs of patio/bistro lighting and an outdoor fan
  4. I'm wondering if the "missing" are truly still missing, or if some/most have been found and are in the process of being identified/families contacted. I know thats a lot of rubble to pick through, but you'd think they'd have found a few more people than this, living or dead.
  5. Wild ride, wasn't it? With the growth this past week coupled with the Russell buys, potential for a short squeeze on the 15th. And if not, they're a relatively healthy company so hanging on mid-to-long term doesn't look too bad.
  6. ATOS Up 20% in two days, gets added to the Russell 3000 index Monday. And, scary that this has become noteworthy, but a close in the neighborhood of $8.50 puts it at over a market cap of $1B.....meaning the Reddit boys might officially jump on.
  7. Speaking for myself, I hope not. But I've always been one to get the worst tasting medicine out of the way first. That said, the one thing I'll guarantee you of.....there will be some crackpot conspiracy theories about it regardless.
  8. How about "....had dirt on *insert controversial figure of your choice here*.."
  9. Those flashes could be electrical buses being ripped out. Could. But either that is the absolute convergence of every variable somehow being perfectly wrong at the same time,or that was intentional. And precision drops like that take at least some degree of planning. What scares me is if that was intentional...what if that was just "practice"?
  10. There's something I never realized: Steph Curry has never played in the Olympics. Guys like LeBron, Harden, CP3, etc....OK. They've won medals and are getting up there in miles. Give someone else a shot to live a dream. But you'd think that for someone on Steph's level (the true elite), you'd want that Olympic medal in your trophy case.
  11. That's what came to my mind as well. Or some type of catastrophic foundational failure. I thought initially that it could be some kind of Central gas line explosion, but there doesnt appear to be enough secondary fires.
  12. Ya'll just jealous. Takes a strong pimp hand to talk Janet Reno into taking a nude selfies.
  13. " I kinda doubt it given how weak the NCAA is becoming looking at the current climate of college sports." The NCAA is more impotent than a 97 year old man after drinking a fifth of rotgut whiskey in a room wallpapered with nude selfies of Janet Reno.
  14. Want warm and fuzzy? There’s a Build-A-Bear at the local mall. I fully realize that the days of Bob Knight’s methods are over, and in some circumstances, that may not be such a bad thing. But there's a hell of a big difference between supporting someone and handing things to them on a silver platter. You can walk that line of being a hardass without it being abusive. I'm sure it's been said many times, but I'm glad we have someone like Mike Woodson that knows where that line is. You've heard the word "family" brought up a lot when it comes to the culture he's building. He's going to give players every tool they need to succeed. But there's also zero doubt as to who mom, dad, judge and executioner is within this family. The telling thing to me was the story about Dale Davis meeting with Coach and his only words to Trayce after walking out were "You're staying". How does it get any better than that? If that happened here, I'll gladly take another year of Kyle Taber-types starting again. And I think Coach Woodson would oblige.
  15. Bob Knight must have just read this article, and I can hear him alternately swearing and laughing from here.
  16. Does a shot of that with a red wine chaser = PB & J?
  17. “He has offers from Duke and Indiana” isn’t the kiss of death that it used to be for a football prospect.
  18. It wasn’t that long ago that a recruiting “victory” was beating two directional Michigans and Illinois or Purdue. Now we’re pulling 4* kids from Florida against the likes of Miami and Georgia. Tom Allen has a blank check for the rest of his career as far as I’m concerned.
  19. Tasty high APV beer needs to come with a clearly defined warning. Pre-pandemic, my last company event in Texas had Revolver’s Blood & Honey on tap. I believe it’s almost 8%, but not knowing this, I was downing them like they were 3-4%.
  20. Whale watching, or as 5fouls calls it….marriages #2 and #6.
  21. Want to really discourage people from using your wifi? Name it “S&M Goat pr0n VPN”.
  22. Prayers of mercy for the poor toilet that has to endure a person that’s eaten one of those quad bypass burgers.
  23. This is another example of IU fans contradicting themselves. Crean got criticized for giving scholarships to guys like April and Priller instead of leaving them open. Archie got criticized for not using every scholarship. There’s a scene in the movie Miracle that summarizes my philosophy on recruiting. Herb Brooks/Kurt Russell is asked why he left some of the “best” players off his list of candidates. His response: “I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right ones.”
