  1. Custom designed, custom built racing vehicles have top speeds, cornering abilities, braking abilities, etc that today's standard production vehicles and even custom racing vehicles of 20-30 years ago can only dream of. They're also more expensive and require more downtime to maintain.
  2. To get Durant....who might never be Durant again.
  3. And....they're still young. Out of their players that have played meaningful minutes this year, none is over 30. Seth Curry is the oldest at 29.
  4. One thing.... If "Who joined who" was part of the criteria, Shaq and LeBron joined Wade's team, not vice versa.
  5. Pippen was a Robin as well. He did better when he was the compliment to MJ vs the #1. Nothing wrong with that.
  6. Zero doubts that if you dropped LeBron into 1984, he could drive the lane and handle it....and probably dish a little out at the same time.
  7. Also, I love that this is becoming the more common question being asked. I always hated the "LeBron vs MJ" debates. Totally different games. Jordan was a sniper, LeBron is a facilitator, and they were/are really damn good at what they did. Now....Kobe vs MJ....that can be looked at (IMO, still no contest...Jordan, but Kobe is one of the few that can be legitimately compared).
  8. With today's training methods and techniques, I think he'd do quite well. For the time, he was a very athletic big man and I think you could capitalize on that. Keep in mind, he was only 225 lbs at his peak, breaking the mold of what you'd expect out of a '70s/'80s post player (big, bulky, etc). IMO, you'd see something like Anthony Davis.
  9. I'd go LeBron either way, but you'd have to differentiate between physical peak LeBron and overall game peak LeBron. When he was 21-22-23.....Christ, it wasn't fair. 6'9" 250 should not move like that. But, as he's gotten older, I'd say his overall game has gotten better. He's still a physical freak, but he's not on another planet like he used to be.
  10. I don't say these words lightly, as the '95-96 Bulls are still one of the best teams in pro sports history IMO, but that's a fair comparison. Two outstanding athletes who are in that size range to where they're kind of amorphous guard/forwards, have multifaceted offensive games and are both lockdown defenders. And Kawhi definitely has that same intensity/sniper's mentality that MJ had. On both individual and collective bases, Scottie/Michael are still way ahead, but Kawhi/PG13 are one of the few that might be comparable.
  11. The sequel was OK, nowhere near the original, but it did have another great Gekko line: "Money isn't the most limited commodity in life. Time is."
  12. Please remember that this is the holiday season. Pumpkin pie counts as a vegetable.
  13. And those are the key words: work with. Not dictate to. Not abdicate to. Work with.
  14. College is very much a student-teacher dynamic between players and coaches. It's the teacher's program. He has authority. He can discipline and release players as he sees fit. Pro sports are more of a consultative partnership dynamic. At the end of the day, they're both just assets/employees of the team. A coach is a direct supervisor for his players. And just like a manager of any team/department, he is going to have to deal with a variety of personalities and styles. He has to have the vision, but also has to know how to sell that vision in different ways, and keep his players on the same track. Different players have different communication styles, different mentalities. Absolute authority probably isn't going to work, just like any other profession. Even coaches with a reputation as disciplinarians (Popovich) have some give and take, and they're not above taking advice from their leaders. You can't tell me that over the two decades he's been there, Pop didn't change his mind or run a play that Robinson, Parker or Duncan wanted to run in a given situation. There is a middle ground between "my way or the highway" and letting the inmates run the asylum.
  15. Hell, I could do that...."Hey...Luka, Unicorn....*rolls ball*.....go at it."
  16. Same reason Brad Stevens made the jump (and is doing just fine): the NBA is considered the world's peak of basketball. He's a competitive guy, as most high level coaches are. He wants to see if his abilities translate on the world's biggest stage.
  17. I'll be damned. I've been to one of those. Well, sort of.. I knew Jeff Ruby opened a location in Louisville. Haven't been to that location, but have been to Jeff Ruby Cincinnati and The Precinct several times (once for an anniversary, the rest on the company dime....only way to do it). Pricey? Oh lord yes. Figure a Franklin minimum per person. Worth it? Easily the best steak I've had in my life. Atmosphere and the menu is complete old-school NYC/Chicago steakhouse. You're not getting a couple ounces of some designer organic "Insert Cool Trendy Name here" slices scattered on a plate that is filled up with stuff the cow would have eaten. You're getting nice big hunks of aged, USDA prime beef.
  18. Crime Pays.....not well enough apparently.
  19. Talk about your 180's. "Mavs" and "good teams" weren't even in the same continent 18 months ago.
  20. As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. JFK
  21. Double Double animal style, well done fries, vanilla shake.
  22. Translation: Only on his terms, and only if he feels like it. It doesn't get any more RMK than that.
  23. Crean is like the slugger in baseball that hits these massive, awe inspiring home runs...or strikes out on 3 pitches.
