  1. I can’t remember where I read it, but it was about a father and his son discovering bird feders during the pandemic. The kid started naming all of them and then drawing them. Was a really cute article.
  2. That’s what I told him - some chunky bois! They also feed corn to the deer and dry cat food(?) to the blue jays.
  3. Woke up to three more inches of snow and we are projected to get up to ten today. It was beautiful and quiet out this morning, but I think I’ve had enough snow for this winter. They did decide to cancel alternate side parking today through Saturday, so thankful for that. My Dad (lives in Gibson County) sent me this picture of the birds at his feeders. Says the single digit temps and winds are really doing a number on them this year. During a walk he saw several dead birds.
  4. Man, this situation in TX is not good according to many people posting on Twitter. I keep seeing busted water pipes and just saw a ceiling fan in a hallway with ice hanging off it. That’s gonna do some damage. I just got our car dug out earlier this week, but the streets are still busted with huge piles of snow. Our car is in a Thursday spot, so I have to move it tomorrow fort the street sweepers. But we are getting 10 inches of snow starting at 4am. Alternate side parking should be fun tomorrow. It’s the first day it’s not been suspended since the big snow. I’m not moving until a ticket person comes through - and even then they better hope I’m in a good mood tomorrow.
  5. Was just coming on here to check how you guys were doing. Crazy weather!
  6. We just finished the first season of What We Do in the Shadows. It’s a very subtle, but also silly, mockumentary about three fairly inept vampires and their familiar. If you’ve ever watched Flight of the Conchords, this is done by Jermaine Clement. And for that matter, if you haven’t watched Flight of the Conchords, you need to get on that. When my wife and I watched the first epidode of Flight of the Conchords, we had no idea what it was. When Jermaine started singing “The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room” we were sold.
  7. Oof, really sorry to hear this man. On the plus side she’s young and healthy, but there have been lots of recurring issues after recovery. We have been studying long term effects from COVID and it’s not looking good for many people who had it and supposedly recovered. I don’t have final data, but complications have been much more common and much worse than we had expected. One of our good friends is a doctor on Long Island and she was the earliest person we know who had it. This was in March. She’s having neurological issues bad enough to keep her from working full time. She’s been on and off of leave since July with problems walking and having balance issues.
  8. I guess it could be worse, we could be MSU this season. I always enjoy seeing them suck.
  9. Yep, I feel like I need to get a bit hipper to this new landscape. It’s hard to figure out all of the weed stocks, but huge upside and crypto usage feels so foreign to me, but I get the appeal. I’ve just recently adopted figured out Venmo and CashApp, takes me awhile.
  10. One thing I keep thinking about the crypto market is that it might get a boost if NY legalizes weed finally. Back before I found my delivery guy, I used a place in DC that you had to use some weird crypto for transactions.
  11. Feels good! Though, we are watching Cuomo become a movie villain here in NY it seems like.
  12. Good things to say about Archie’s recruiting as well from the father and CJ.
  13. This is huge news and shows just how much the US can do if they put their minds and good people behind it.
  14. Oh absolutely. I’ll risk the flu for that. It’s never even been a concern of mine before. But I hope that people think more about hand washing and being more aware. This is coming from a germaphobe though. That’s my hope as well. Not touching your face is HUGE. But also very hard to do IRL.
  15. I don’t think this level of social distancing is doable for the future, but some form of social distancing could help in flu season. Maybe just being smart in/or avoiding crowds. I don’t want to go back to COVID measures ever again!
  16. They are totally different, so that would be weird. And the flu isn’t as contagious, so we may have found a new tool in fighting the flu - frequent handwashing, some form of social distancing, and masks.
  17. Yep, we were expecting/hoping this would be the case and it’s WAY down this year. Silver lining I guess.
  18. That’s what I keep telling my wife, we could build something upstate MUCH cheaper. Let’s just say less than two months of rent here is a bit more than your renovation..
  19. Different than the rural Indiana town I grew up in that’s for sure. Although, Brooklyn is the same in many ways - just not cost.
  20. Yes, we are insane. If I told you how much we pay in rent each month for our 500 sq ft box you would think I’m insane.
  21. I started this year realizing I’m eligible for the $6K catch up contribution to my TIAA-CREF 403 account. So, bumped up that contribution to the max of $26K per year. Will help a bit on taxes and I want to turbocharge these last 5-7 years before I hopefully retire early.
  22. We had a little bit of snow on Monday. This is our car and my wife waving at me. We wanted to take a walk this morning, so we walked the three blocks to where our car was parked. Thank goodness alternate side parking was suspended this week, b/c I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon.
  23. I absolutely love a simple Sierra Nevada pale ale. It’s like an instant time travel back to living in Broad Ripple. The Broad Ripple Tavern was close to our place and they served this on draft back when it was kind of a big deal.
  24. Exact same thing here. My wife has never understood or cared about football, but she would really get invested in the games on the show. Great cast and show. We finished the OJ documentary and it was really well done.
