  1. My Brandywine Pinks are getting some blossom end rot on several of the tomatoes. Really discouraging. I’ve been fertilizing, but hasn’t seemed to help. If you see a bearded hipster with a man bun rooting around in your Giant Syrians, it will be me! Hope those continue to do well for you. The best tasting tomatoes I’ve had in ages.
  2. We both use Overdrive through the NYPL and it’s saved us a TON of money on Kindle books. We still buy a lot of physical books, but it we want to read on our Kindle it’s through the library.
  3. Nice haul! We’ve had a pretty steady stream of fireworks each night in our hood for the past month. We are down in Maryland this weekend, b/c we like to see them over the water. The ones in St. Michaels here are Saturday night. If we go back on Sunday, we will catch the NYC ones from our rooftop! Have always loved the 4th!
  4. It’s mostly the fussing over the name and other aspects of it. And I’m not in a mood to argue over it on the internet - even with you.
  5. Am worried out tomatoes are going to smother us in our sleep.
  6. I have a hard time denying people a holiday when they’ve been treated like shit for decades upon decades. Having a Juneteenth holiday does not impact me as a white male. And seeing people celebrating actual freedom (rather than the playtime freedom that so many cry about these days) brings me great joy. It’s like I don’t have to be gay to think Pride month is awesome. Not everything has to be about me as a straight white male.
  7. Man, I really loved his passion, enthusiasm, and hatred of the “Smellermakers.” Rest in peace, Dennis.
  8. Some of my best childhood memories were sitting on our covered front porch with my Dad watching a thunderstorm roll in. That smell in the air and just the fury of the thunder and lightening was super exciting as a kid. Still is honestly, though we don’t get those types of events here that much.
  9. That is 100% true, my friend. You put me in the biggest city in the US and I still gotta plant and grow stuff. It’s the reason, we won’t leave this tiny box apt, while we are here in Brooklyn. Tiny box to live in, but good south-facing outdoor space on the top floor.
  10. All of this rain lately is turning our terrace into a jungle. My tomatoes seem like they are a bit ahead of schedule and peppers are doing okay. I like June, since a lot of the early summer flowers are starting to pop. It’s a good thing my wife and I are both pretty thin, b/c the path through to our east side seating area is already pretty small. My wife wanted some sunflowers this year, so I threw out some seeds a couple of months ago. They are already three feet tall.
  11. We used to be the team no one wanted to play or match up against. I’d like to see that again. Just f*#kin demoralize the other team before tip off, knowing they have to match up against our energy and passion. So sick of seeing Northwestern and Penn State be the aggressor against us.
  12. Ok great, major props to your daughter. We need more people like her in the world. Glad he’s safe and able to goof around with that big ball.
  13. Have been wondering how the Syrians were doing. I bet if they get enough sun time, they’ll catch up in no time!
  14. I definitely believe, it’s interesting how they are starting to say, “Well, yeah somethings out there. We can’t make things that do those maneuvers.”
  15. What a beautiful girl. I am so sorry. The connection was there and obviously very strong. Dogs are special, but damn I wish their lifespans weren’t so short. Im still not over losing our Greta last June. Can look at pictures, but watching a video of her still brings me to tears.
  16. Our Chloe is really trying to walk on her own after her stroke. We are so proud of her! This just started in the last 24 hours, so we are hopeful for continued improvement. EE8EDF0D-0075-4540-A75E-1D8E481F95B5.MP4
  17. We have become so divided as a country, that I don’t see how this great unmasking is going to work well. NYC is opening up rapidly with no restrictions and guess who has to handle the mask or no mask debate with customers in stores? Those very same “essential workers” who everyone praised early on. And some of them might not be fully vaccinated. I had a conversation with our vet last week about their policy - it’s all curbside still. Which pisses me off when we are paying $6K for an MRI for our dog after she had a stroke, but have to hand her over and sit on on the sidewalk in the heat waiting to talk to the neurologist over the phone. Yet at the restaurant next door, people can be inside drinking and eating at almost full capacity. She said it was b/c not all of thier staff have been fully vaccinated. I will say I’ve been enjoying walking down the sidewalk w/o a mask, especially in this heat.
  18. We are similar. We have stated to try to remember to go maskless (keeping it on wrist or in pocket for going into place) while walking outdoors, but it’s kind of a weird feeling here. Probably 60-70 of the people still are wearing masks while out and about. I think Brooklyn is very much “one for all” to protect each other, so when you would see maskless people, you immediately thought a**hole or careless pr*ck. Now I feel like one of those. But I do think we are fine outdoors walking around without if you are vaccinated. What is NOT going to change here immediately is masks indoors. Too many people remember the bad old days of 24/7 sirens and refrigerated trucks outside of morgues and hospitals.
  19. Awesome, and yes I forgot that the Pfizer was the only one approved for teens. Super cool for him and you.
  20. Damn, that sucks. I know many on here weren’t super happy with him, but I liked him and wanted to see him have a chance to improve.
