The Big Ten was a disappointment yet again.  No way they should have list the challenge this season.  A couple of guaranteed games out of the gate and still could not muster enough to get to 8 wins.

I believe the B1G was favored in 9 or 10 of the games. The ACC isn't very good this year yet they won the challenge. Brings the B1G back down to earth a bit after its great start.

    Tuesdays lines--

    Maryland -13 AT LOUISVILLE HAHAHAHHA

Clemson -1.5 (H) vs. Penn State

    Illinois -12.5 (H) vs. Syracuse

    Iowa -16 (H) vs. GT

    Wisconsin -5.5 (H) vs. WF

    UVA -3.5 AT Michigan

That pretty much lines up with my thinking on how today will go. B1G with 4 almost certain wins, 1 toss up, and 1 likely loss.

And at least 3 of the TOs we're because he tried to make the flashy pass rather than the solid basketball pass...

I think that's why he got an extended seat on the bench in the 2nd half...

One of them was a very freshman play. He bounced the ball off his foot directly to the other team which started a break. JHS raced down the court and fouled the dude. 🤦‍♀️

It was interesting to hear tonight that he worked as a guard this summer in his workouts.

There was at least one possession where he brought the ball up the court and looked comfortable doing it. He wasn't pressured but it showed he's capable of doing that sometimes.

This is obviously a subjective question, but how high can TJD climb on the All-Time list of Hoosier players?

I made the comment the other day that he is, at this point, the best player I can remember and I'm 34. Yes, I realize Calbert and maybe Henderson were better, but I don't remember them.

To me, he can get into the Top 5. If we were to win the Conference, make a FF or win it all, and he finishes in the Top 3 All-Time in scoring I think he's got a very compelling case for that. Where exactly in the top 5? Man that's a really tough question because I'm not even sure I can tell you who deserves number 1 right now.

It's hard to rank players from different teams and different eras but I will throw out some stats. After tonight, he has 1688 career points. He should be able make it to #3 or 4 on IU's all time scoring list. He's already #8 on IU's all time rebounding list with a chance to finish at #1. He's #7 on IU's all time blocks list and again has a chance at #1.

So he should definitely be considered one of the best players at IU. What might hold him back in some people's eyes is that he hasn't been on great teams the past 3 years so has only 1 NCAAT appearance with 2 games played in that, the only win coming in the play in game.  But those teams weren't mediocre/bad because of him, the were mediocre/bad in spite of him.

So you're going with the litteral definition of shortening the bench, meaning players who play regardless of minutes. In that case the bench was literally shortened. From 13 to 9. Simple check of the box scores confirms.

My guess is CMW will shorten the bench as needed. And that was the whole question from the start. For some reason it is a crazy notion to a few.

Just give yourself a pat on the back and move on.

I have been very pleasantly surprised with Gunn. Seeing him come in and get after it defensively in the first half was one of the highlights of the game for me.

Same here. I greatly underestimated him. He looks a lot better than I thought he would so far this season. I thought he would barely play even in blowouts and wouldn't do much in the time he did get. I also thought it would be a few years for him to develop. I was wrong.

  8. I came to this board and BTB to get away from that kind of behavior. I previously posted on rivals and that place is a s**t show where personal attacks are quite common. This site is so much better. A large part of that is due to mods actually caring and working to keep it that way.

@bluegrassIU, I'm sorry some people ruined the game for but I want to thank you and the other mods for all the work you do here.

Harvard has 50 billion tax free

IU & Purdue over 3 billion

buildings & land are long since paid for

    professors aren’t getting huge raises

yet tuition is 5 times more than when I was in school

they constantly beg for money 💴

Just curious where it all goes

From my understanding it's for Keeping Up with the Joneses. Upgrading facilities, research, wooing researchers to come to the school, etc.

The system is very inefficient and they don't really have any incentive to make changes so that it becomes efficient. Thus they just keep raising tuition.

I loved that Woody kept Reneau in the game at the end, despite his inexperience at this level. He was clearly playing well (and certainly better offensively than Thompson), and I never worried when the ball was in his hands.

That, my friends, is a luxury to have.

My concern with him in a tight game like this is his FT shooting. 50% this game and 50% on the season. When I looked it seems like he didn't shoot it much better in HS. He does do a lot of good things which help to offset that but teams will look to foul him.

He isn’t going to knock him out of the starting line up, but he might knock him out of the finishing line up.

4 of Race's 7 shots were 3 pointers and he missed him all. The team doesn't need that. It does need him to shoot (and hit) from outside on occasion but not 4 shots pet have when he's missing and certainly 50%+ of his shots shouldn't be from there

That probably had at least a bit to do with why Woodson sat him in favor of Reneau this game. We'll see if that becomes common but I think you're correct and it will.

You posted a shoddy quick screen grab that looks like a child did it.

At the same time, I invested an extra 4 minutes to research and type a thoughtful post that contributed to the betterment of this site, basketball in general, and perhaps all of mankind.

There is talk of a Pulitzer.

@Madison22 had this hilarious (and very true) line in his post which made it approximately 3240683204623406 times better than yours: "I do not want one and done role players."

I'm with you, but it brings up the age old question, is one season of JHS better than four seasons of Smith?  I'd disagree with anyone who says that A is clearly better than B.

We did have 4 seasons of Phinisee which looks like it may be a good comparison for Smith. Would you rather have 1 year of JHS or 4 seasons of Phinisee?
