Take out those 7 games and Myles was a 33% 3 point shooter...

To be fair, it's hard to take out 7 games, that's a handful.  Lol

With that said, I am not at all concerned by it.

It will likely improve, and he immediately makes us a little better.

Love this addition!

Fantastic get. Young player who was one of the best players on a tourney team. Needs to improve his 3%, but he shot 81% from the line and shot just under 4 threes per game. Both are signs that there is room for improvement there.

Using Bart Torvik’s PPRG stat, which measure offensive efficiency weighted for playing time and usage, the only IU guard since the start of Archie’s tenure who has had a better season than Rice’s freshman season was Romeo. This is the type of impact player we need.

His shot isn’t broken. He has good form and seems to be able to play fast while still under control. I think shot selection and confidence can improve and with repetition no reason he can be 34-36%  with the work. I think this is a good get and he and Cupps can share time or even play together if needed.

Agreed. Great pickup, but taking seven games out is some magical thinking. It’s like saying if you take out 13 games when Gallo went 0-40, he’s a 47% shooter. Rice has a great skill set and is a really good addition. No need for anyone to spin his game into something it isn’t at the moment.

The potential significance here, though, is those games all came at the end of the year. It's not unusual for freshmen to hit a wall. Certainly that's part of what cooked Purdue against FDU. Braden Smith shot only 25% the last seven games of his freshman year. He was over 40% before that stretch, and for his entire sophomore year after. And Braden wasn't playing his freshman year having just finished chemo.

You’d think he would hit one just by accident…I mean it takes talent to miss that many in a row. Anyone checked to see if he had a draft kings app on his phone??
