How much of Painter's success in getting those kinds of pieces would you contribute to the amount of time he's been working at it? I don't think he came out of the gate doing it but has figured it out over time and has developed a formula that he believes in and rolls with. Getting the best talent available and trying to make it work appears to be Woodson's formula at this point but as many have highlighted numerous times, he's new to coaching at the college level and has some learning/developing to do of his own.

I don't know what was said (or not said) to any of the potential guard transfers/recruits and I highly doubt anyone on this board does either. Is it unreasonable for our staff to tell any recruit that they will have to earn a starting spot and not promise it to them? I suspect Ware and Mac were given similar messages but it was a whole lot easier for them to see how it would play out. Potential guards were looking at 2 senior starters they would have to compete with. Again, I know nothing but I'm pretty sure the staff wasn't sitting around saying "nah, we're good at guard. Let's just go watch CNN"

I told myself I wasn't going to read the post game thread after this one. Figured it would be a waste of my time drudging through all the posts from the Woodson haters coming out of the woodwork. But it turns out it was actually productive. I found a few more folks to put on ignore.

I went Galloway. He took the "next man up" message to heart in all aspects of the game. Just wish his free throw shooting would improve.

Not that we've shot a high percentage from 3 prior to these last 2 games but here's a question What affect does having 2 3pt lines have on a shooter? I would have to go back and look but I swear most of our 3pt attempts where behind the NBA line. That's a big change for the freshman especially, no?

I watched the presser late last night and woke my wife up yelling "Amen!" when I heard Woody say that.

I'll try to summarize: We won the game... with a coach who shouldn't have been hired (according to some) with a coach who doesn't understand the "modern game" (whatever that means) with a poorly constructed roster against a terrible team only because someone other than CMW made a decision to switch to zone Also, there appears to be some question about who's fault a particular turnover was because that's also important This is all just my opinion about the thread though

Couldn't watch the game but looking at the stats (specifically rebounds) I would guess the effort/energy level was much better?

The biggest role being you must play defense (at least if you want to play for Woodson)
