  1. This is a really good scouting report by Evan Wilson. He's a walk-on at Akron. He's from Noblesville and grew up an IU fan. Akron has faced KSU six times in his two years at Akron. He kept emphasizing that IU cannot turn the ball over against them. They are very physically and mentally tough. They are also a team that feeds off momentum, especially if they are getting steals and converting. Not a great 3-point shooting team, but they make clutch shots. Will punish you with second chance opportunities.
  2. You would think, but no one has stepped up to be a reliable third or fourth scoring option. Other than Malik, the 3-7 don't rebound well and are too slow to guard the perimeter or stop quick guards from driving. Race is a glaring defensive liability. It makes IU vulnerable.
  3. Yes, it was all 4-6 seeds. The problem isn't our two projected draft picks. It's the supporting cast.
  4. FWIW, The Athletic's "model" has IU/KSU as the 4th most likely 1st round upset at 33.3%. VA/Furman is the highest at almost 40%, followed by IA St (if MS ST wins in 1st four) and Creighton. Miami is 5th most likely.
  5. 14 miles from his hometown. Was heavily recruited by Autry out of high school
  6. True and in his case, I'd say it's mostly shot selection.
  7. When he's on, he's really good, but wildly inconsistent. Volume scorer, shooting 40% overall and 33% from three. 1.3/2.1 assist to TOs. If we bring in guards, I want much better shooters.
  8. Anybody but a P5 school for the win.
  9. I agree with this take. The biggest problem this team has is a lack of quickness (with XJ out). I think it's what makes them appear to not be playing with enough effort at times. We are too slow at several positions to guard the perimeter, we can't keep quick guards from driving and we are consistently beaten to offensive rebounds and loose balls. More than anything, I think that makes our ceiling the Sweet 16, but also has us vulnerable to an early exit.
  10. I suspect PSU moved the whole bubble down, but I think ASU may have taken Rutger's spot. Not sure how PItt got in, but Rutgers played themselves out.
  11. They asked the committee members, how many wanted to watch a 42-39 game and it was:
  12. The ESPN guys are such Duke & UConn homers. I wonder if they even watch other teams if they aren’t doing a broadcast
  13. You get bonus points if you’re within 50 miles from ESPN HQ. They deduct if you’re within 70 miles south of NCAA HQ
  14. “Historically, the Georgetown head coach has always answered mainly to the university president. So Ewing reported to Jack DeGioia, who has been the president at Georgetown since 2001. Athletic director Lee Reed, who’s led the Hoyas since 2010, has not really had the power to run the men’s basketball program. Sources tell FOX Sports that Reed and the Georgetown board are much more aligned on the next hire, and that Reed will have more power in the future of the program. That will be a big shift if it comes to fruition. The Hoyas’ issues go beyond whoever holds the head coach job, but how the program is operated. Too many people have had too much influence on decisions that have led to Georgetown basketball’s demise.”
  15. Not sure Georgetown is a great job and he doesn’t have any ties to DC area. ND would make some sense.
  16. I know that’s conventional wisdom, but I wonder if an OSU/IU game would bring higher ratings. The IU//PU game would be big in IN, but OSU has a much larger fan base than PU. OSU win and in is a more interesting story to the casual fan.
  17. But Edey had no business grabbing him and trying to pull him away. That's for the officials
  18. DePaul leading Xavier 49-40 at half, following their upset of Seton Hall. Amazing how some teams that have had a terrible year can get hot in a conference tourney.
