  1. I will not be getting one either. I am in a low risk demographic and am not worried for myself. I generally avoid putting anything in myself I consider not necessary, including things like painkillers, ect. Think about it, if somebody gets a vaccine they are supposedly protected right? So, why worry then if I don't get one.
  2. There is a pet thread and I will resurrect that one but I think we could use a brand new health and diet thread?
  3. Well, those are the the newest additions. We have 5 cats inside, the oldest is 11, and 2 dogs that are both about 13. And 2 cats that hang around outside for food. My wife like to take in strays.
  4. My wife would love to foster cats but she would want to keep them all. December 2018, a few days before Christmas I heard a cat meowing. Found it cold and wet under my car in the driveway. So we took it in and took care of it the best we could. Spent $$$ but it died from MODS in June 2019. It sucked. Here are the newbies we have
  5. Agreed. Would be a good thread to share recipes, meal ideas, diet plans, ect.
  6. For brevity I grew up with all kinds of animals from cows to barn cats. Cats were an afterthought and my wife was allergic to them growing up. But not anymore. Back in June a pregnant stray took home under our deck. We kept the two girls and found a home for the two boys and spayed the momma cat. Cats are pretty cool. We try to catch and spay or neuter the strays we can.
  7. I honestly feel a bit guilty about how I feel. I'm doing fine financially, but mentally so,so at the moment. Many more have suffered so much more than I have. Wether it be mental, physical, or monetary. If I remember right you adopted a cat recently? How is that going? I have a very difficult problem of saying no to my wife so we have 2 12 week old kittens creating Havoc!! I held them In the the palm of my hand on day 1 back in June. They grow so fast.
  8. Glad this popped up today. Have a persimmon tree in my back yard and this reminded me to go out and see what I have.
  9. Covid seems impossible to escape. I'm burnt out and no matter how hard I try to avoid it I cant. I've tuned it out best I can. A couple tv shows I watch are coming back soon but with pandemic storylines. Ugh. As silly as it may be I've been watching alot of Food Network but every dang commercial has a covid reference of some sort. 2020 is a grindstone and I'm mentally exhausted. I've been avoiding this thread but didnt know where else to post my thoughts. My attendance at work this year isnt great. I talked to my manager about it. I dont feel depressed and there are no problems at home but I just dont feel like my normal self.
  10. Binged watched Community on Netflix not long ago. Took a few episodes but really liked it.
  11. I've been mixing in Schitts Creek. Is it just me or do the characters yell alot.
  12. If you want to get the fried crunch I have had pretty good luck dipping chicken strips, wings, thighs and fish in an egg wash and dredging in almond flour then air fry. Breasts are too big and get soggy. Almond flour is healthier obviously, but a traditional batter turns to mush. Almond flour is mealy and fries up nice with an egg bath. Panko bread crumbs work good too. I let whatever protein I'm trying dry for a minimum of 30 minutes before the egg wash. But that's just my style.
  13. Indian food is great! There isnt anywhere close I can get it but I can get the ingredients. Have a can of red curry paste in the pantry waiting for a cold day off. Make a curry dish a few times a year. More of a fall winter food for me.
  14. For me clarified butter if I have it or Kerrygold butter. Any good quality butter will do. If I'm doing wings I add 2 tbsp to my sauce.
  15. I've worn out 2 of them. Plan on getting another soon.
  16. U.S. Medical Supply Shortage Plaguing More Than Just Tests for Covid-19 Compared with the well-publicized shortages that have hamstrung U.S. Covid-19 testing, these supply challenges have gone largely unnoticed. But the two are closely tied: A months-long focus across the country on boosting coronavirus testing, paired with lengthy interruptions to non-pandemic medical care, left manufacturers prioritizing production of Covid-related materials. Companies like Becton Dickinson and Co and Hardy Diagnostics say they’re working to make up the deficits but it could take months. Looks like its more of a shift in production.
  17. Where I work we use a lot of disposable sterile plastics materials. Right now everything from the last couple orders is backordered. I wonder how the much lowered demand for oil plays into it.
  18. Coronavirus pandemic plunges millions of Americans into poverty As Congress remains deadlocked on a new coronavirus economic stimulus package, two new studies show at least 6 million more people in the US are in poverty due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. A study from Columbia University published on Thursday found that the number of Americans in poverty grew by 8 million since May. Since then, monthly poverty rates have grown closer to what researchers estimate rates would have been without the Cares Act. The poverty rates in August and September were 17.3% and 16.7%, respectively. Without the stimulus package, researchers would have expected rates of 18.7% and 18% in those months, respectively.
  19. Not sure if I put this up before but I'm going to keep posting Gary Allan songs because, well he is just that good
