Penn State is hot garbage.  Not to ignite the Woodson stuff over here but if he loses to them a third time....not good to be nice.  Same with the team, no excuse to get handled by Piss Poor State.

Not concerned. Very possible that the  IU job would chew Dusty up and spit him out similar to what it did to Archie.

Pearl would be the right choice, but his window is likely going to close soon because of age if it's not already.

Will be interesting to see how Shrewsberry does the next year or two at Notre Dame.

IMO if you are doing Pearl you have to make that move now.

If you are an "IU guy" soooo much... why would being the HC at either of those two jobs deter you from taking the IU job later on.....

assuming you'd want to even take them at all?

Your contract could dictate that Indiana doesn't financially want to make the move if/when the job becomes available.

You are maybe playing Devil's Advocate but I look at it like this, you got a buddy who is still working for a company you started your career with.  He says people in the company have noticed you and think you would be a good fit for leadership there.  However, they just publically doubled down on the person whose job you would supposedly be the fit for and you have 3 other offers at other really good companies offering you multiple times your current salary and more resources to do the type of job you do for your current company.

I'm not waiting around for that mythical offer no matter how much that may be my dream job.  In my experience, those "you are totally our next guy" positions rarely come to fruition.  You make your move when you are at your peak and if dream job isn't offering now, you take the job being offered.

Now if dream job comes calling and you are still interested in a year or two, you can still make your move.  Even then though, you could both want it but the finances aren't there to actually make the move.

If I am Dusty May and it is confirmed Woodson is locked in for next year and Ohio State offers me $3.5+ million to come be their coach, then I am a Buckeye in the here and now and I will figure out that other stuff if we ever come across that bridge.

Sorry if it’s been mentioned but Jeff Goodman is suggesting today that Dusty May will likely have the chance to choose between Louisville or Ohio St as his next coaching gig. Know West Va is interested as well.

Wonder how our fanbase will feel if/when that happens, especially if Woody has another subpar year next season.

If he goes to one of those places and does really well from jump and we have another season floating around the bubble or worse, people are going to be capital P pissed.

Happy for the guys to get another W. Might as well just keep it up . Gonna be a tough road. Hope that TG is good to go for the BTT. I can't help but keep playing the what might have been scenarios through my head. I think 2 more wins we were in safely and no talk of a new coach. Lets just go out and win this thing.

You didn't even need more wins.  You just needed to not have all the close games against bottom of the barrel teams in November and December and show up to a few of the games you got blown out in.

Matt likes to talk above people. Matt's going to eat his words this time next year.

The Big Ten as a whole was much worse than predicted.  Finishing 6th in Big Ten preseason didn't mean the same thing after the games were played and a bunch of teams (like Michigan St.) were shown to be wildly overrated in the preseason.

(I know you realize this but things like this are just mind numbingly stupid.  It is peeing on people's heads and when they complain telling them it is rain.)

Guy with exact same record as guy he is discussing says that guy did a good job.  Insert shocked face here.

Nobody is making you watch or pay attention to the program. Why do something that makes you so miserable and a thing you don't enjoy.

Habit and an emotional attachment developed in our youth.

My kids aren't Indiana fans.  I mean they wear the gear and they will pop their head in and ask me who is winning from time to time, but they aren't fans like I was at their age.  If we had this Indiana growing up, there are a whole bunch of us that probably wouldn't have been fans....

That guy has been a troll over there. He was on here last year with a different user name. He was the one that told us to look at who the recruits were following on social media so we would know where they would go.

Yeah, but logically what he is saying has to be the plan for next year at the very least.

On the subject of ticket sales or not going to games,etc....it's literally pennies on the dollar if even pennies. Now the optics are one thing if they show a half empty place (IF that happens) but in terms of revenue....what the TV deals pay the universities is all that matters.

Honestly the only people who are hurt on gameday financially in basketball are the servers at bars/restaurants and maybe Uber/Lyft drivers. Possibly some hotels if it's a weekend game.

Oh I know that it isn't much but it is really the only method I have to show my displeasure.  And really the school is about optics, if Assembly Hall ndxt year looked like Maryland's attendance this year, they would take notice.

I'm not happy with the school and I don't want to show up to boo and I don't bother writing to them because they aren't read.  An empty seat is my voice.

Why would you not watch the football team because you are unhappy with the basketball program. Majority of our sports programs have been pretty successful. I guess I don't see the reason to stop rooting for the other programs

I was going to football games, I will stop attending.

Our head coach doesn't like recruiting (apparently) and therefore is not as engaged in that process as he needs to be.  He doesn't do well in long term recruiting.  I think that is because he doesn't enjoy doing that and has other priorities and believes he can cobble together a team like they do in the pros through the college equivalent of free agency.

I really think it is that simple.  Recruiting high school kids requires more effort and ass-kissing than Woodson wants to do or believes he should have to do so he avoids it.  He is used to pro relationships where you don't have to coddle dudes.  That isn't this game.

That is my conjecture based on observation, things Woodson has said, and hearsay.

I also want to add, there is nothing wrong with what Woodson likes as long as you realize that about yourself and act accordingly.  I would have all the respect in the world for Woodson if he basically came out and said, "You know what, I love Indiana University and I love coaching.  However, I don't love all the other aspects that a college coach has to do outside those two things to be successful the way the game has gone these days.  Therefore I am going to retire early so that someone who does love those things can build on what we have done here to set the groundwork for NIL and the modern approach.  I will be available to help that person continue to grow this place that I love so much."

If Woodson came out and said something like that at Senior night, much respect and standing ovation from the crowd and he still gets to be Woodson the hero.  If he holds on for whatever reason and doesn't change up the things he isn't doing for whatever reason he isn't doing them though, he is going to tarnish his legacy.  Brad Stevens knew he didn't like the college life.  Jay Wright has said the new game isn't for him.  Other coaches have expressed similar thoughts as of late.  And I get it, some of this really sucks from my POV as well.  It is the reality though.  So if Woodson isn't 100% bought in to what it takes, he needs to be self aware enough to say he isn't the guy.  And that reasoning would have nothing to do with his coaching ability, it is all about preference.

That off ramp is available, I would love to see him take it.
