  1. I have to assume this is what Woody was hoping he was getting when he brought in Durr.
  2. Look at that kid's rebounding numbers when he was at Utah Valley. I'll take that in a heartbeat.
  3. I don't see enough teams with a legit chance to pass us. Bracket Matrix has NW as a 7. They're not passing us. The 5's are St. Mary's who lost their conference and picked up no impressive wins along the way. Iowa St. has been struggling a lot down the stretch. San Diego St. has a recent bad loss and no potential for good wins left. UVA and Miami I guess could pass us, but they can't both win the conference. I would love to get at least one win to cinch it, but the 4 seems a lock. Let's not forget the committee put us at the top 4, and that was when a lot of brackets had us lower, so they like our quality wins and lack of bad losses.
  4. Who is Steve Risley, and why do we have so many threads promoting him that lead to no conversation?
  5. I only know of the transfer rumors from what I have read here, but I was very much left with the impression that Woodson made it known that he was unlikely to turn away such players in the future. Assuming TJD and JHS are gone (I don't think either of those things is a certainty, but both are more likely than not), I don't see next year's roster as one that has a legitimate chance of being where we are now. Obviously Woodson has more information than I do, so perhaps he sees it differently, but if he doesn't, then I think he clearly has to add pieces to try to put us in that spot. We at least need a big, and probably need a wing scorer. I like guys like Bates and Geronimo, I hope they stay. But, they have not had the kind of careers thus far that cause you to count on them as more than back-ups. Bates is getting 20 minutes a game this year and Geronimo is getting 13. I'm all for giving them the chance to earn more, but I wouldn't want to go into a season depending on them to play more.
  6. You have to remember, this is a Big Ten road game, you can't expect that call on the road.
  7. Why did Michigan have such a short shot clock there? They got the board after a missed FT and then had a 15 second clock? Is that right?
  8. It really is unbelievable. Michigan is getting all of the calls you would expect to get at home in the Big Ten.
  9. Has he made a single shot all year that wasn't a 3 or a lay-up? I honestly don't know the answer. I know he has shot them, but I don't know if he has made them.
  10. Man, I don't know what you're seeing there. I certainly agree the puncher was the worst offender, by far. But, on the shot, the dude wasn't going for a rebound he just cross-checked him. Then he got his forearm into the eventual puncher's face. It seemed clearly intentional. If I'm making the rules of basketball, I don't eject him at that point, but it's close and I've seen a lot less lead to an ejection. Right before the big guy put his arms up, he had plenty of room to step to his left. He instead stepped straight into the puncher and brought his arms down on top of him - he was not respecting the cylinder. Maybe the eventual puncher deserved a T at that point, too, it's hard to say from when that replay starts.
  11. Unbelievable that they missed the foul on the guy who eventually got punched. That was borderline worth getting disqualified just on the rebound scuffle. Then to not quickly T him up as he got in the guy's face was just astonishing. Are you somehow okay just because your arms are in the air? I was also quite amused at how the ref quickly went to try to separate players and then realized that a very large man was pissed, so the ref went to restrain a guard who clearly wasn't involved.
  12. Anyone run the numbers on the worst case scenario? What's the lowest seed we can have in the BTT if all the breaks go against us and we lose?
  13. It's not hard to look at the NET rankings and some home/away differences and come to some absurd concussions. Beating Purdue on the road is no better than beating Ohio State on the road. And, beating Virginia at home is only quad 2 so less impressive than beating Ohio St, Yale or a 15-15 Colorado on the road.
  14. I won't look it up, but I believe last year the conference had 2 teams under-performed their seed, 1 team outperformed it and the others did exactly what their seed said they should. Not a great showing, but not some disaster either. Past tourney draws confirm that previous results do not impact seeding. Do you honestly think the committee even remembers how teams did last year? Other than the Final 4, I would have to dig deep to remember what a given team did in the tourney last year - it certainly wouldn't bias my evaluations of teams this year.
  15. Just got to sit down and watch the game now. With the knowledge that we won, so not needing to sweat every call, I didn't think the officiating was too bad until the last 8 minutes or so. From then on, they, Edey in particular, got away with a lot of contact down low on both ends - we got away with nothing. Up until this point, the difference between JHS having a good game and a bad one was mostly just whether his long jumpers went in. Last night, he really attacked the lane and got a lot of great looks for true mid-range (not long 2's). Edey's lack of defense is probably enough for me to think he does not deserve player of the year. I'll give him offensive player of the year, but not overall. JHS has always been so smooth with the ball, but it didn't often create anything - last night it did. If he can play with that level of aggression while still having that shot selection, we are going to be real good.
  16. I'm stuck in an airport, so just following on gamecast. I don't understand how Race had a steal and then 8 seconds later took a 3. What could have happened in those 8 seconds to make him shoot that? Ugh.
  17. Thing is, it works. I didn't watch this game, but it looks like they got a lot of offensive rebounds and steals down the stretch -id bet they got some favorable no calls in that last 2 minutes.
  18. I don't doubt that your guys got hosed, but any honest assessment of big ten officials is going to find a lot of missed calls, so I don't really have the context to evaluate a particular number.
  19. If that's a real number, it misses the context that there were no doubt some number of bad calls that went the other way. Probably not the same number, but some
  20. The first 4 seed, too. I would love to see us climb to a 3. I don't know what the actual results say, but in my gut, playing a 14 and a 6 is so very much better than playing a 13 and a 5.
  21. I honestly have no idea what argument you are even trying to make. You think because a guy has some bad games he's shaving points? The fact that his best two games were probably against NU and OSU when we were favored at home don't seem to dissuade (feel free to look the word up) you from your argument. How about the fact that his worst game was probably when we were underdogs at Maryland?
  22. This one was a little close. We grabbed the board with 50 seconds left, so we have time for two 10 second possessions. That's tight.
  23. How is this taking so long? It clearly hits their guy.
