Popular Post 5fouls
An important piece to have when building next year's roster. Very happy he's returning.
13th&Jackson
That was a must. He has some areas to improve, but of all the things wrong with IU basketball this season, Malik's weaknesses weren't in the top 10. Theoretically, all players are portal players in this era. Especially assuming Ware doesn't return, would we have taken the following P6 transfer with 2 years eligibiity? 6'9", 15/6/3, 33% from three? In a heartbeat.

Seeking6
Very, very important piece. This can be a relatively quick fix if MM comes back along with TG, Portal,etc...

iuswingman
Now we just need a shot blocker / rim protector that can play outside on offense and shoot the 3.

IU Scott
Can't believe anyone would think Reneau coming back is a bad thing. If he improves as much this off season than he did last off season he will be an all big ten player. 3

The only bad thing is it requires us to have 2 post players since he can't rebound or protect the rim very well. And most of us are well over watching buddy ball in the post. MR is a good player on offense but somewhat of a black hole. Hopefully he works on his free throws, rebounding and ability to defend without fouling. 4
IowaHoosierFan
MR will need to grow in some areas of areas this offseason. Rebounding Staying on the Court (fouls) Court Vision - Seeing those Dbl/triple teams and learn how to take advantage of that. Free throw shooting. Glad he is back, although he fits the through the post style offense so it won't force coach to change his ways as much now that he can rely on MR on the block.
MoyeCowbell
To think any player is a finished product after their sophomore season is silly. I see no reason why he can't improve; he seemingly wants to do so, and I look forward to seeing in what ways this is accomplished.
02Hoosier
So you’re saying there’s a chance we’ll be decent next year? I’ll take it

He was second on the team in total assists, and was basically tied with a 6th year PG for assists/game. He was smart for mostly passing to Ware, who is an excellent finisher. Who else do you pass too? Mgbako, Cupps and Gunn, on the season shot under 40% overall. Ware and Reneau shot a higher % from three than Mgbako and Gallo. Ware and Reneau both attempted more threes than Cupps, who was afraid to shoot. His big thing is staying out of foul trouble and getting better rebounding position.

Still way too many times where he would force the issue, get fouled and then go 1 of 2 from the line. Those misses don't count against his fg% due to the foul. Turning it over also doesn't count against his FG% I'm not saying he was bad on offense and part of it is also Woodson's crappy offense system that feeds the post while having the outside players sitting around doing nothing to get themselves open. Another thing to consider is turnovers, which he needs to improve on. He has a surprisingly high fg% given how many contested shots he takes. That’s not really a complaint for me, but too often he does get himself in a position where he is either putting up a heavily contested shot or turning it over. He was 4th on the team in TO% at 20.3, behind X, Leal, and Cupps.
WRSMick55
A BIG help ( pun intended) would be to put three or more deadeye shooters on outside then maybe he wouldn’t have to fight through double or triple teams inside and would have incentive to psss out? 2

Even though Ware had a slightly higher average, Malik was probably our best option when we really needed a bucket, so why throw it out to a guard who was likely going to miss. If we get a couple of elite guards who are knock down shooters, then I think he’ll be a willing passer when he’s double teamed. And if they’re really good, he won’t be doubled team as often.
